He talked over all the options available to us, answered all our questions and took extra care and attention to make sure we had the best package to suit our needs. I had a call with Francis D'souza this morning to discuss the probate process for my mothers estate. Francis was so informative, clear and reassuring that I felt it was an easy choice to choose the Co-op for the probate. I would recommend all to consider using the co-op for any legal matters and they are very lucky if the end up on the phone with Francis!

Worst service ever , tried for 3days to contact solicitor dealing with probate, which has been going on for over 1 year , no answer to phone calls , no answer from emails . Phone the new business number someone answered straight away .

Tom Williamson from Co-Op Estate Planning met with us (online) to discuss planning our Wills. Tom was kind and patient and after explaining the process guided us through the questions. Tom was professional throughout but also made us feel very comfortable, no question was a daft question.

Extremely disappointing experience – check every charge carefully
I approached Co-op Legal Services during an extremely stressful period and unfortunately came away very disappointed with both the charging process and the communication.
My initial call was free and helpful. I was then looking for some legal advice and was asked to pay £500 on account before proceeding. I queried why I was being asked for £500 when the initial consultation had been advertised at £120 for 30 minutes, and was told that money was held on account and would need to be topped up as work was carried out.
I paid the £500 because I needed advice. My subsequent call lasted approximately 45 minutes. A significant amount of the conversation was spent discussing fees and potential costs when I was trying to use the time to obtain legal advice. I found this particularly frustrating given that I was being charged for the solicitor's time.
After the call I received information about the potential costs of taking matters further. I decided not to instruct Co-op to undertake further work and requested an itemised bill and the return of the balance of my £500.
I then had to chase repeatedly for a response. After four emails over approximately two weeks, I eventually received an itemised account from a secretary and was told that my refund would be £243 and would arrive within 5–7 days.
I subsequently received only £190. When I immediately queried the discrepancy, I was told that the £243 figure I had been given did not include VAT and that £190 was the correct refund.
So, from the £500 I paid on account, I ultimately received only £190 back despite deciding not to proceed with their wider services.
What has upset me most is the lack of clarity. I expected to pay for the legal advice I received, but I did not expect the amount ultimately retained to be what it was, nor to be told in writing that I would receive £243 and then receive £190.
I also found it very disappointing that I had to chase several times over two weeks for my account/refund when communication about charging for time had been extremely detailed.
My advice to anyone considering using this service is to ask in writing, before paying money on account, exactly what will be charged, whether figures include VAT, what activities will be billed, and what happens to any unused balance. Check the itemised bill carefully.
Based on my experience, I would not use Co-op Legal Services again. They do not deserve even one star

We were invited to participate in a teams meeting with COOP estate planning consultant Andrew Ford to discuss our Will trust and LPA requirements.
Andrew immediately put us at ease with his no pressure approach and relaxed manner.
Andrew was informative and patient, giving us several examples of possible outcomes depending on which policies we decided on.
He also gave us the costs involved as we were taken through the consultation.
We decided to go ahead the Will Trust and LPA, in no small part because we trusted Andrew's advice and would recommend this service to anyone in our position.

We found the Estate Planning Advisor, Karen, to be very helpful and professional in her approach. During our online meeting Karen did raise some issues we hadn't thought of and which proved to be of value. Communication since our initial meeting has been first class.

We arranged for a video meeting with Alya from the Estate Planning team to rewrite our wills and create new financial & health LPAs under the Co-op legal services Cancer Research package and were very impressed with the professional and approachable way that she led the session to thoroughly understand our financial position and requirements. We look forward to receiving the drafts from the Co-op Legal Services Team shortly.

I found the meeting with Ben very useful, he put me at ease and was very thorough in going through everything. Found the whole process to date very professional and well run. No hesitation in recommending the service to anyone who wants to get their will in place.

It was easy to make an appointment and Caroline made me feel at ease and told me what we would talk through and other potential things to think about. She helped me achieve my goal of getting a Will in place. I would definitely recommend her.
