What a circus
Avoid! I have no idea how scammers got hold of my account details but they were bleeding money from my account once a week. Halifax, Lloyds or whatever they call themselves now, simply couldn't care less. I wasted three seperate days trying to resolve the issue with their customer services and got absolutely nowhere. Shocking customer service, and I don't mean just poorly trained staff, I mean hopelessly inept. By day three I was using strong language and they immediately cried "offensive language". Well, Halifax, I am even more offended by how poor you treat your customers. Good bye, I am cutting my financial losses that were due to your ineptitude, and moving my account elsewhere.
Absolute disgrace to the industry and…
Absolute disgrace to the industry and in actual fact worse behavior than Rogue Traders & scammers you see on TV....
I raised a section 75 dispute & complaint after a so-called mechanic ruined my camper van.... I have a recording of it being raised under section 75 and then three months later out the blue I get a call saying ' we are raising it under charge back ' which obviously totally limits liability for their rogue trader and the Halifax partner credit card company....
I'm just glad I've kept all the evidence to include the handwritten notes off the branch manager that I raised my complaint with three months ago..... today they ask for it, (as if i was telling lies) I said it's okay I'll keep it for a judge....... ( acting as if they don't know I know what scam they're trying to play, well I do)!
The whole experience with Halifax has…
The whole experience with Halifax has become an absolute nightmare. Moving customers over to the Lloyds app would be perfectly understandable if the system actually worked properly! Instead, customers are left dealing with unnecessary problems and frustration.
To make matters worse, I cannot even use Apple Pay. How can a major bank fail to provide such a basic and essential service in 2026?
Customers should not have to put up with this level of incompetence. Halifax and Lloyds really need to get their act together.
I've had enough. I'm switching banks. If they cannot get the basics right, why should I trust them with my money?
Halifax Bereavement Team
I recently used the Halifax bereavement line. I asked if my diseased mother had a Halifax account. I was told that she did and was given a reference number. I needed to take my Mum's will into a Lloyds bank (now amalgamated with Halifax) to prove that I was a named executor and cxID to prove who I was. I did this. Two days later I rang for the closing amounts of her account. We had a short discussion before I was put on hold, after I had held on for ages to no avail, I rang off. I rang back and explained everything again and asked for the final account details and was given the details of Mum's Lloyd's Classic account. I had these details already. I was told that my Mum DIDN'T have a Halifax account!!!! This could have had devastating consequences for our family. If I ask about Halifax I mean Halifax. If I ask about Lloyds I mean Lloyds. Please assume that customers know what they are talking about.
Completely messed up my transitioning…
Completely messed up my transitioning to lloyds. I have held a lloyds bank account for about 17 years. I've had my Halifax account for about 9 years. This transitioning is supposed to be straight forward. However instead of transitioning my Halifax to Lloyds they did a complete switch and now I have lost my Halifax account and all my direct debits are in my lloyds current account. What a mess. Ive now had to contact the executive complaints team to sort this mess out as I am unable to open a secondary current account at lloyds as of the abrupt closure of my Halifax account caused by Halifax switch which has caused me not to meet the criteria with lloyds as of the abrupt closure of my Halifax account. I am seriously not impressed. This is a serious breach of the Current Account Switch Guarantee.
Due to front line staff not being able to rectify this error it has now had to go to the executive team to deal with who do have the powers to over ride this error.
Seriously not impressed.
I've now had to ask that
1. Re-open my standalone account architecture so I have two distinct current accounts.
2. Separate and transfer my hijacked Halifax Direct Debits out of my primary Lloyds account and into this separate account.
3. Apply the Current Account Switch Guarantee indemnity to protect me from any failed bill payments during this transition.
I understand that when you apply for a new account normally, the computer runs an automated internal scoring check. Because my Halifax account was just abruptly shut down and direct debits were forcefully moved, the bank's automated systems likely flagged my profile with unusual activity, causing a "computer says no" rejection.
The fact that I was rejected for an account of which I'm rightfully owed because of your initial glitch proves that your system error has now actively damaged my internal profile with your bank and caused me to suffer a material detriment.
Thanks Halifax for the inconvenience you have caused me. Now lloyds have gotta sort your mess out.
Humiliating and Disrespectful Treatment…
Humiliating and Disrespectful Treatment After 15 Years of Loyalty
I am deeply disappointed and extremely hurt by the treatment I experienced at Halifax on Lea Bridge Road, Leyton, on 13 October 2026.
I have been a loyal Halifax customer for approximately 15 years, and I never imagined that I would be treated with such disrespect while simply trying to access my own money.
I visited the branch accompanied by my 13-year-old daughter to make a cash withdrawal. I provided my identification as requested and fully understood that the bank needed to carry out appropriate security checks.
However, what followed was an extremely upsetting and humiliating experience.
A woman who introduced herself as the manager directly told me, “You are lying,” without providing any explanation for such an offensive accusation.
My daughter was standing beside me and was visibly shocked by what she heard. As a mother, I found it incredibly humiliating and painful to have my honesty and integrity questioned in front of my own child and other customers.
I fully respect the bank’s responsibility to protect customers from fraud, but there is a significant difference between carrying out legitimate security checks and making a customer feel dishonest, intimidated and disrespected.
To make matters worse, I left the branch without being able to complete my withdrawal.
I subsequently contacted Halifax’s Head of Customer Services team in Leeds, hoping my concerns would be taken seriously. Unfortunately, I received no apology, complaint reference number or confirmation of an investigation.
After 15 years of loyalty, I expected professionalism, dignity and respect—not public humiliation and accusations of dishonesty.
This experience has seriously damaged my trust in Halifax. No customer should leave a bank feeling embarrassed, degraded or emotionally distressed simply for trying to access their own money.
I sincerely hope Halifax’s senior management investigates this incident and takes appropriate action to ensure that other customers do not experience similar treatment.
Extremely disappointing and unacceptable customer service.
Avoid Banking/mortgage
I would advise against banking with Halifax or applying for a mortgage through them.
In my opinion, Halifax’s advertising is misleading. My experience has been that staff appear focused on completing their jobs rather than prioritizing customers’ interests.
I have felt deeply dehumanised and have lost trust in Halifax. I intend to close my account entirely.
Poor ratings we’ll deserved
I am not surprised at the poor rating the Halifax receives from its clients. My experience is similar, branches closed, up to 20 minutes wait before calls are answered, poorly trained staff ( one hadn’t heard of Sainsbury’s Money), request to move money between accounts in one’s own name referred to fraud dept resulting in long delays.as few employees dealing with numerous referrals. Miserly compensation offered for hours spent trying to do a simple transfer. Room for improvement!
Real people equals real service
I use the app mostly but regularly use one branch in particular. The Allerton Road branch is excellent. The staff are helpful and friendly and you can actually speak to a real human being. Sometimes you do need an actual person and you can speak to someone here. They’re very professional and knowledgeable. I hope they never go fully online as real people are what’s important particularly when you’ve got an issue to resolve. Been with them for 30 years plus.

Today I was fortunate enough to be dealing with a lady called Sai. I had a problem with an unexpected amount of money leaving my bank account. Sai listened to my problems intently and in the end she managed to assist me with my problem. I cannot speak highly enough of Sai and I hope that her immediate manager realises the potential in this young Lady. Definitely one for a long and ultimately successful career with the bank. I cannot thank Sai enough. But I will try. Thank You So Very Much Sai. Martin
Help from David
I would like to say that David was extremely helpful when I was almost a victim of fraud. David was extremely helpful and professional when dealing with the matter.
Thank you very much
From Andrew
Thanks to Christopher
I had recently a lot of problems with Lloyds Halifax on line banking. It was going on for a while and the Lloyds staff could not sort it out.
I was about to make a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman about the inability of the Lloyds staff to fix the problem.
I was in town and decided to walk in our Cambridge local Halifax branch (Halifax merged with Lloyds recently) and talk about for the last time before taking it further.
Branch manager called Christopher Guy at the branch met me. He managed to solve the problem at the branch very fast and efficiently.
So after months of complaints and efforts to solve on line banking problem, the problem was solved in no time.
I would like to thank Christopher for his assistance and his professionalism.
Thank you.
Your money is not protected with Halifax and their customer service is terrible
Had to raise a dispute as I was scammed from an overseas retailer. They asked me the same questions multiple times during the same conversation the customer service is poor. They are cancelling the dispute because they r taken the retailers word for it rather than asking me for my evidence. Been with them 10 years and will 100% be moving to another current account! Your money is not protected with Halifax!

Thanks you Ellen.
Disgraceful 'service'
Disgraceful 'service'
Over 20 minutes waiting on the phone, that after listening to an automated pile of dross
All 'high street' banks are becoming the same
You want access to your money? Tough.
We should all remove our savings and see how they get on.
Fraudulent £187,500 mortgage taken in my name, and the fraud team did not follow up
In 2009-10 I was using a mortgage broker, a family member's company, for a genuine mortgage application, and they held all my personal documents. I later discovered that a Halifax mortgage of £187,500 had been taken out in my name, which I never applied for or authorised.
My first sign was an official letter from Halifax welcoming me as a new mortgage customer. When I asked the broker about it, I was told it must be a mistake and to ignore it. Soon afterwards I started receiving letters chasing me for mortgage payments. I phoned Halifax and told them the mortgage was fraudulent.
Halifax's fraud team became involved, but I felt they did very little. They told me the money had been paid into a Bank of Scotland account. My own business manager at Bank of Scotland looked into it and told me the money went into an account that was not in my name, and was then moved on to three other people. I passed this to the fraud team, but I don't believe it was ever properly followed up. I also learned that two solicitors' firms had acted on the mortgage without ever meeting me or verifying my identity, because I never instructed them. As far as I could see, nobody chased this up either, including Halifax. The matter was reported to the police, but I never saw any action.
It took me two years to clear my name and my credit record, and I was only removed from the mortgage at the end of that process. Halifax should have known who the mortgage advisers or broker were and who the money was paid to. Instead, I was left to do the investigating myself. I felt let down by how little concern was shown for a customer who was a victim of fraud. No apology or amends were made following the discovery.
Ai or humans that is the question
Had to phone Halifax 3 times in 2 days for a couple of reasons, 40 minutes wait each time. Closing our local Lloyds and Halifax is full all the time. So they are rebranding Halifax and doubling up on customers. So today I called in the local Halifax at 4.10, I was told we are closed. The shop sign shows 4.30. I have moved all my accounts now to Yorkshire, they still talk face to face
My friend and I visited the Burnley…
My friend and I visited the Burnley branch today. Despite some technical problems with Lloyds banking app which were out of their control the staff were extremely helpful and kind. I would like to single out Theresa the assistant manger and Abas who went out of their way to resolve the situation. Additionally Janine from the savings helpline work hard to resolve the problems we had to try to open a savings account. Thank you all for your assistance today
