Let’s just say one star says it all
Like many others I got the Gold 18months cover with the 2016 car I bought and yes it’s useless, I had spoken to somebody regarding how it works and was sent a link and told to open it to see what I need to do, BUT I was not told this would start the 30 day claim I was informed if it’s going to be over the 30 days the garage is to on their headed paper send them why it’s going to be over what needs doing basically all they required plus the amount which was £444.86 at that time that was all done on the 6th November 2025 well within the time frame and even though I was told alongside my mechanic who also spoke to them letting them know the tensioner had exploded and replacement cam belt I needed would be covered !! well’ I’m still waiting for that reply!!
In the meantime my car now needs camshaft and valves replacing so my bill is around £1700 and of course it’s been Declined, even when I sent an email explaining why I disagree with the ‘Declined ‘ And regarding what we were both told on different days that was still ignored and everything again Declined !!
I got an email I’m out of the 30days, so why are we told don’t worry just send on the garages headed paper an email explaining why we were over which he did, So means nothing obviously, and the best of it all is Don’t do anything until we hear from them, okay so how do we know what’s wrong with the car until it’s stripped down it’s another get out clause…
So, because no one is or was willing to be honest or at least help out plus also ignore the email they received from Roberts tyres ( Full Garage ) on the 6th Nov 2025 in the time frame I will be taking all this to a higher body !!
Oh and my car has been in the garage since the 21st October over 2 months now !!! but what do they care, it’s not their car is it, I have a health condition / mobility so I’m stuck getting out and about and I now have to find the money to cover now a bigger bill and yet they said the cam belt and tensioner would be covered So,£444 towards the huge bill I’ve got coming in what’s that to them, Nothing !!

I purchased a second hand car, 2012 plate which I understand is an older car, however, I have all documentation to prove it has been well taken care of and also very low mileage for a car of its age. My car was running fine and well until one morning when I went out to start it up. It wouldn't start but the electronics etc were working. I took it into the garage approved by handler protect for a full diagnostic report and breakdown of cost to repair as well as an explanation of what had gone wrong. The engineer at the garage wrote a report stating that the cars starter motor had jammed, something that he said was completely unpredictable and not a wear and tear issue. I sent all of the information to handler protect only to be denied on the grounds of it being "wear and tear". If this had been a wear and tear issue i would have fully understood and not even bothered to go through the process of trying for a reimbursement as it states this in their handbook. It also took almost a week for them to review the case and give me an answer though they say 2 days. Do not use handler protect if you have a somewhat older vehicle, no matter the condition of it, its pointless.

I recently had a conversation with Cian from Handler Protect, and I have to say it was a genuinely positive experience. Cian was very informative and insightful about the work being done on my car, and he provided excellent customer service throughout. He was understanding, clear, and helped resolve the issue efficiently. I really appreciate the call and the care he took.

A warranty on a 10 year old car.
Every problem will be classed as wear and tear.
There doesn't appear to be anything that would actually be covered.
There is no point in having a warranty for an older car as nothing would be covered.

I had a car warranty claim with Handler Protect and the whole experience was far better than I expected. From start to finish they were prompt, professional, and extremely courteous.
A special mention has to go to Cian, who was incredibly helpful on the phone. He explained everything clearly, kept things moving, and sorted everything out for me quickly and painlessly. It really took the stress out of what could have been a frustrating situation.
Excellent service overall — I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Handler Protect to anyone dealing with a warranty claim.

If you look through all the previous reviews on Google then you will see that 95% of the reviews are one star – Most of the responses indicate that this company never pays or honours It’s warranty obligations.
Basically they use unfair contract terms to avoid any responsibility – I will be taking them to the small claims court using the consumer rights act 2015 .
Handler protect have requested an unreasonable time to investigate and respond to my appeal.
They claim that the car was too old and the mileage too high to honour the claim. Why did they agree to provide a warranty breakdown on the vehicle in the first place?
See The consumer rights act section 54 subsection six this section … Handler direct should not use contract terms to prevent the consumer seeking other remedies for a breach of a term – so I will seek compensation from handler direct retrospectively
The fact that Handler protect raised their voices and spoke over me and responded to my correspondence with standard email responses that proved that they had not bothered to read my correspondence means that they failed to perform the service with reasonable care and skill (consumer rights act 2015 – section 49)
Consumer Right act 2015 section 62 (four) (a term is unfair if it is contrary to the requirement of good faith and causes a significant imbalance in the parties rights and obligations to detachment of the consumer.) …. Handler protect terms and conditions are riddled with terms that contradict the requirement of good faith.
I will be using the above and other remedies to retrospectively claim £3600 plus from Handler direct
Little postscript – I see that Handler protect very often leave feedback saying they are unable to locate the source of the claim – so Cian here is my claim number 2680 4706 – C2?

I was unsure how the warranty process worked, but I followed the information that I was given by the team - when we ran into some part specific issues Cian wen over and above the service I was expecting and helped find a quick resolution.

I bought the car a little over a week ago and was heartbroken to see a fault light appear on the dash after only a few days of driving it. I contacted handler support and they sent me a claim form with clear instructions on the claim process almost immediately. I submitted the online documentation as requested a few days later and less than 12 hours after submitting it received a phone call from Cian stating that he is handling the claim and without speaking to the Technician believed I would be eligible for a repair reimbursement minus the policy excess. About half an hour later Cian called me again to say that they had agreed to waive the excess and sent me a repair reimbursement form to complete which will be processed within 24-48 hours of receipt which I am of course delighted about. So far this company have been Spot On! I have given 4 stars because of the sceptic in me but I will be coming back and changing it to 5 once the money is in my bank!

Had a broken teeth parts inside the gearbox .I have sent all the documents and quote that they asked for.First I had some problems with the claim but eventually got it all sorted

I rang the number, which was answered promptly and, after giving my details, was told I would be referred to someone else. My experience of this with other companies is that this is the start of a process of being fobbed off, but NO - Cian was almost immediately there at the end of the phone (after some really pleasant guitar work on the holding music) with his warm, friendly voice. He explained that, although my repair was not strictly covered within the warranty guidelines, he would like to offer a courtesy amount as goodwill to cover part of the cost of the repair. This was very unexpected and very much appreciated by me. Cian explained the process expertly and what I now needed to do, all of which is very satisfactory from my perspective. Overall a very helpful and positive experience, with someone going out of their way to provide a great customer experience. Thank you.

I’ve been waiting weeks for a resolution on my claim for vehicle. Despite providing diagnostic reports, video evidence, and technician confirmation, my case has been rejected multiple times with new requirements each time. The car has been immobilised since early November and I need a clear response. Please review my case and reply promptly, as the delays are leaving me in a helpless situation.
Update:
After extended response time with my claim, Handler Protect eventually resolved the issue and reimbursed me. The process took longer than anyone would expect, but once escalated to the right person they did act and covered the repair costs. I appreciate that the claim was finally settled, though communication could have been faster and clearer.

The process for requesting a repair was so simple to do online through my phone and all required documents were clearly explained.
I had to provide further information for my repair and Handler were very quick to respond to me to explain what was outstanding to process my claim.
I and a phone call with Cian Roe who was super friendly and he explained my cover to me. It was nice to speak to a human and I appreciate the personal touch.
