Not worth the misery!

So, I got put on Molina Healthcare at the first of January 2026, They seemed to be good at the time. My Flex card worked as it should and they seemed to be paying my bills. Then my Chiropractor contacted me and said Molina was not paying the bills because they said I didn't have Medicaid, but Julie told them that my Medicaid number was on their card. Then they told her that she would have to type in every page of my visits in order to get paid. They told her that they don't use the program that other companies use that makes the billing process basically a breeze. Now as of three days ago, I found out by accident that Molina has dropped me because they say I no longer have full Medicaid, and because of that change I can't be on Molina. Medicaid told me it is same Medicaid I have always had. Not having the Flex card meant that I would not be able to pay my utilities. Molina NEVER sent me any kind of notice and they supposably dropped me on Jan. 31, 2026. Thank God I talked to a two Medicare agents that were both Christian's and they I believe have gotten me on with Aetna at almost the same plan. I was up front with the agent as I was with the Molina agent in Nov. of last year. I told them that I have partial Medicaid and that it was a QMB plan, and he told me that was excepted and was the plan I was getting. So, I would tell you stay away from Molina Healthcare, because they don't care about your needs at all, and they will say and do whatever they want to get out of their contract! NO A GOOD COMPANY AT ALL!!!!!!!

She went above and beyond to assist me with the struggles that I was having I have not received genuine care like I did today in over 10 years she is a shining gem in a world full of people trying to get rushed off the phone she answered all my questions and help me find many answers to a lot of problems that I was having with SSM health billing and I just really appreciate her as a Molina employee and her service has guaranteed that I will stay with Molina by her treatment alone 10 out of 10 experience .

These Screwballs at Molina Healthcare…

These Screwballs at Molina Healthcare don't warrant any, ZERO STARS. This health insurance wins the trophy for being the absolute worst insurance company on this entire planet, in regards to all facets of the company, from customer service, billing, referrals, authorizations, providers, etc., etc., etc. I cannot find any words to describe how dissatisfied, upset, angry, livid, etc., etc., when trying to write a review on such a horrendous, company, (so you call yourself a legit company), but for the life of me I can't understand how this company stays in business.

I have yet to find anybody satisfied with this so called health insurance. Even all the Doctors, Nurses, etc. literally told me to shit-can this bogus insurance and do myself and everyone else a favor and change insurance companies. I am VERY PLEASED to write that I have enrolled in I.E.H.P, over the telephone, and what a smooth, non-irritating process this was. Extremely helpful, wonderful customer service and the ease of changing my insurance from Molina to IEHP, I know I will not have anything negative to say about my soon-to-be health insurance company, (IEHP).

Please do yourself a favor and terminate your Molina healthcare and try IEHP, or anyone else for your own sanity. When every doctor, nurse, specialist, etc. tells you to get rid of Molina ASAP, enroll in IEHP, this insurance will make all your medical needs a pleasant experience and get treated like a human being, without having to call and get transferred to many Bozo's they have working there, with each one not knowing anything about the company, PERIOD!!!

All of us unsatisfied patients who got the worst health insurance experience on the planet; need to pull together and stop Molina from torchering us. Please do not stay silent, let all Molina healthcare clients voice their very truthfully, BAD experiences. Thank you very much!

Worst

Worst! I am trying for days to make a payment on the portal. It's literally impossible. I keep getting letters that I need to pay so I won't lose my coverage but no one can help me, not over the phone and definitely not the website. So much time wasted and no success.

I'd give them zero stars

I'd give them zero stars. As a medical provider & patient, I can say this is an absolute fraud of a plan. I chose their Medicare Advantage plan for 2026. What a disaster! Their website doesn't function, online bill pay, pay by phone doesn't work. Directory of providers inaccurate. They also impose copays when their contract & ID card says none. I could go on & on.

Zero stars should be an option.

Zero stars should be an option. That's more than they deserve. Worst experience I've ever had with any company, of any kind. Told me to sign documents while on the phone, and I overlooked that I somehow accepted extra coverage for out of pocket cost. It was another $290 per month and started billing immediately. I've now paid about $1200, and have not been able to use insurance. Signed up cause I needed a surgery, which they said would be covered... it's not. Tried to use insurance in May, but they insisted coverage would not start til June 7. Received a letter stating that I need to pay by June 1 to start my first month's coverage. Paid on June 1 and then got an email that my bill had not been paid. I called and they told me I didn't pay in May. Explained everything about the call I made to them in May, when they told me coverage doesn't start until June 7. The heavy foreign accent kept repeating back to me that it says coverage began in May. I read the letter they sent me about starting my first month of coverage in June, but they didn't care. Filed a complaint, and they replied that they can't change start date of coverage. A few days later I got an email that my monthly bill (autopay) was being more than doubled. It's nothing but a scam.

Avoid signing up with Molina at all…

Avoid signing up with Molina at all costs!!

I originally chose Molina during my Medicaid enrollment period because I needed a root canal and was looking for better dental coverage. A receptionist at my dentist's office suggested that Molina offered more comprehensive dental benefits, including coverage for procedures like root canals. Since my previous insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield covered very little dental work, Molina seemed like the better option. Because the root canal was imperative and couldn't be postponed, I enrolled in Molina believing it would provide the coverage I needed.

To be fair, my root canal was covered. Unfortunately, that is where my positive experience ended.

What I cannot understand is how an insurance company can cover a dental procedure yet repeatedly deny medications that are medically necessary for my asthma and lung health. My pulmonologist prescribed specific medications, including corticosteroids, and despite my symptoms and medical need, Molina continued to deny coverage. Instead, they approved alternative medications that were not what my doctor prescribed or believed would work best for my condition.

Dealing with repeated medication denials has been incredibly frustrating. Health insurance should provide access to necessary treatments, not create obstacles that prevent patients from receiving the care their doctors recommend. I should not have to fight for medications that are essential to managing a chronic health condition.

At this point, I am beyond disappointed with Molina. More than anything, I am angry!!!! I switched to this plan because I believed it would provide the coverage I needed, only to find myself repeatedly battling for medically necessary medications. No patient should have to spend their time worrying about whether their insurance company will approve the treatments their specialist says they need.

What makes this even more frustrating is that I am currently stuck with this plan until open enrollment. I can't simply switch insurance companies tomorrow and move on. Instead, I'm left dealing with denials and uncertainty while waiting for the opportunity to choose a different plan. In the meantime, I am left without medications that my doctor believes are necessary for managing my condition.

Before choosing Molina, I strongly encourage you to do your research, read customer reviews, and carefully compare all available options. While my dental procedure was covered, the repeated denials for important medications have completely overshadowed that one positive experience.

As soon as I am eligible to switch plans, I will be doing so. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Molina in any way, shape, or form. If you're approaching Medicaid open enrollment and considering Molina, my advice is to look at every other option first. My experience has been one of the most frustrating insurance experiences I've ever had, and I sincerely regret choosing this plan.

Expensive with virtually no providers…

Expensive with virtually no providers that accept it. Prior authorizations for my medications were denied with no resolution. Extremely poor communication. Aggressive customer service. Absolutely horrible experience. You have to jump through hoops for basic healthcare services and coverage.

Specialist referrals

Specialist referrals. I've always have a problem when my primary doctor order a specialist. Molina healthcare takes forever to approve it. When they approve it, I don't need it anymore.

BEWARE

BEWARE! On the onset of coverage Molina will give you a rather nice allotment of money to be used for over the counter items with a nice allotment of funds to be used for groceries. And then within a year it went from over $700.00. And within a year it dropped to $140.00 that is to cover over the counter & food. Moreover, I was informed that I need surgery on my eyes however, although FDA approved, Molina won't cover it. I'M WARNING TO EACH AND ALL, FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER. You will deeply regret coverage by Molina

Incompetent

On February 28, 2026 my payment was due for March. That very day they canceled my insurance for nonpayment. On the due date. I have had nothing but problems for the three months that I’ve had this insurance. They continually cancel my insurance telling me I haven’t paid them despite the fact that I am able to provide cancelled checks. I had the insurance for three weeks and they raised my rate by three dollars and some change. My office visit co-pay is $60 if I use the insurance . Yet, when I pay the office visit out-of-pocket, it’s $35. I have tried to get Molina to explain to me why this is. They blamed Covered California. Covered California says it’s not us.
Despite the fact that I have paid them every single month they now say I owe them $1000. Part of that $1000 is for next months premium.
If you check the BBB website, they have a F rating. Very disappointing.

Molina's customer service is terrible

Molina's customer service is terrible. Heavy language/accent barriers, ineffective staff, long wait times, and no resolution. I spent almost 3 combined hours on the phone trying to resolve a very simple issue, only for them to claim at the last minute that there's nothing they can do. Do not use Molina if you have any other option.

Happy Customer

I Felt it pertinent to share my experience with a home visit appointment from Molina Healthcare. They sent a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner so dedicated and committed with unwavering compassion to making sure that I was completely taken care of! Thank you Sangie Manabat FNP-C for your kindness, professionalism and caring personality you showed me, which has me writing this 5 star review. I hope management takes notice of this with their own performance review, that will help you promote within the future. Companies go out of their way to employ individuals, like yourself, who have these qualities that I have mentioned. Thanks again Sangie for putting a smile on my face and making me so proud to know you!
