Martyn clearly has vast experience inspecting new build properties and I trusted him to snag my home for me, he was superb in picking the items that may not be obvious to home owners.

Two years since he first did my snagging report he is continuing to support me with several important items that I am struggling to get addressed with the developer.

I wanted to get a snagging survey done within the first 7 days of completion, and NBI were thankfully available. Martyn carried out the survey, and I found him to be extremely well informed (expert, in fact), and friendly. He answered all the snagging questions I had, and spotted things I wouldn't have. Liaising with his colleagues at NBI was also very smooth, and I received the report the next day itself, as I had requested a fast turnaround. Martyn continues to be very approachable to help answers questions after the inspection as well. As an added bonus, he even gave me a lift out of his way after the survey, which I much appreciated! When buying a new build home, an independent snagger is essential, and NBI certainly fitted the bill. They were able to fit in with our complex timetable, and performed a very thorough assessment, including pointing out some items that would not be covered by the builders, but did warrant attention. The draft report was submitted within 24 hours and the final was sent directly to the builders as a PDF, which was extremely helpful. I think there was a slightly excessive emphasis on minor defects in paint finish, and a few minor things were missed like an absent radiator cap. However, overall the assessment has given us great confidence both in our new home, and in dealing with our builders (although they have been models of good behaviour themselves).

The peace of mind I obtained from having a professional (with decades of experience in Quality Control for a major developer) snag our new home is unquantifiable. Paul was extremely thorough, took the time to explain a few of the larger snags to me, and promised a speedy report, (which is exactly what happened), as I had a 7 day snag meeting scheduled with the site team. Furthermore, Paul communicated a certain respect for the house, praising the design of the Redrow Marlow (one of the first draws for us, as buyers) and the general level of finish. Which he mentioned to the site team when they popped round to introduce themselves! There are some crucial points on the report, which we would not have spotted or queried, and I feel the level of attention and service, including email communication with Rachel at the office, as well as the final product fully justifies the rating I have given.

We contacted New Build Inspections after locating their details on the web, they were polite and punctual. I consider myself to be somewhat technical with regards to knowing what is right and wrong with regards to snagging a property. But I have to say, that what the surveyor found when he visited the property really opened my eyes. The report was well documented and concise, upon presenting the report to the developers there was not much they could say and they agreed to carry out all the works detailed. With previous new properties we have purchased, we have always had an upward battle with regards to remedial/snagging works.

I would recommend to anyone this service and to use New Build Inspections, moving home is very stressful and this is one stress that New Build Inspections takes away.

I used New Build Inspections when we moved into our new flat to do a snagging report. Martyn was really friendly and helpful in preparing a report of all the snags and the after care has also been fantastic. I have had a couple of issues with the developer on a couple of snagging issues and Martyn has been really helpful in advising what I can do.

I would really recommend New Build Inspections for anyone who are moving into a new build property, as you would be surprised what the developer will try to get away with!

We recently bought a new house and New Build were tremendous. Our surveyor (Martyn) went through the house with a fine tooth comb and the report was incredibly detailed. From start to finish we had a positive experience with New Build Inspections. Firstly the Inspector was happy to talk through points we had found by ourselves, he then explained the process of the inspection. He was very patient and was happy to explain anything we did not understand.

The inspection took place and we left him to it. He found some serious faults and some minor and also picked up on decorative pieces which i was unaware of. They aided us after the report and explained the process if the builder's refuse ect.

After spending a lot of money on our new build home, the price we paid for the inspection was invaluable and clear to us how much needed doing that should have been done. I would 100% recommend New Build Inspections and I am aware a few from our site are also booked.

Not impressed, it took a while to get the final report and the surveyor (Norman) was not very responsive. He promised to measure the flat for me and then afterwards said he forgot and that it wasn't part of the scope. I understand it wasn't but why did you promise as I was relying on this. He was also meant to call me to provide a high level summary of key snags which (suprise) never happened. It was not part of scope but he agreed to it via email. The report produces is very technical and confusing and has not helped me with resolving snags whatsoever so I would not recommend.

New Build Inspections were OK and they identified most of the obvious snags. Unfortunately, they missed a few very important ones like the fact that the loos were flashing with hot water and the cold and hot taps were the other way round, the external light not working, heaters not working properly etc. Overall, I was disappointed and wished I had just done the inspection myself.

I was very pleased with the service given by New Build Inspections and would certainly recommend them to all buyers of new build homes. Firstly, a snagging survey really is a worthwhile investment, even when the builders are from a reputable firm. New Build Inspections produced a very detailed report on my flat, highlighting a number of issues, which I would never have noticed by myself. I was also pleased that I opted for the follow-up snagging survey (which checks up on what the builders have done in response to the first). I was very impressed by the thoroughness of New Build Inspections, and I am sure that having the two surveys done made a difference in getting issues resolved, in particular before the second survey. Overall, I'm very pleased indeed that I had both the initial and the follow-up surveys done, which I'm sure have contributed to the quality of my flat.

Very good communication. They have experience and they like to share it. Personally I have no idea about buying a home and what to expect from developer. And let's be honest - new homes will always have some problems.

I would definitely recommend this service. It will save you a lot of hassle and money overall. We had decided to pay for a survey after we had had enough of excuses from the builder and justifications of poor workmanship by them saying this is "within NHBC tolerances".
Well the report uncovered over 80 snags which 60 got accepted and inspected by NHBC.
Not only we got the survey done but also the thermal survey which was included in the price. Usually you'd pay over £700 for a separate thermal survey. This was accepted by the builder even though they refused it initially. The camera is properly calibrated and costs over £12,000 so not a Mickey Mouse chinese camera you can buy from banggood.
The surveyor was very professional, punctual and knowledgeable. We are also getting a consultancy and further help with NHBC procedure which is a great help. We never regretted spending £400 which is gonna save us overall thousands of pounds. It's simply a no brainer. The same company was used by BBC watchdog so you can use that in communication with the builder. It somehow adds more credibility to it.

New Build Inspections snagged my new build flat in London. I found the surveyor very pleasant and easy to communicate with. He was also very punctual, patient and explained the NBI process thoroughly prior to snagging. The report produced was very useful and it pointed out snags that I personally would not have been aware of. What I found most useful about the report was its use as a second pair of eyes. You do need to also use your own eyes as different things matter to different people as the surveyor suggested in terms of follow up with the builders. On receiving the report, I was impressed, it was well laid out and addressed lots of items I would not have thought of myself. I visited the property again after receiving the report and I sent the report to the builders who found it useful as a follow up for themselves in correcting issues, most of which were very minor. There was one item that was not on the report, something that I spotted on my second visit (post-snagging report), a loo that was placed within 2.5 inches of a fixed shower screen on one side. It is a small flat which I accept but the loo does not appear to be centred between the shower and vanity unit (it seems that the waste pipe was not centred perhaps this is the reason). I'm genuinely not sure whether this should or shouldn't have been on the report. I politely queried this with the reception/admin team at NBI who said they would ask the surveyor. It was felt that in the context of building (as I understand it) that this wasn't deemed as an essential item of note as the report focused on building flaws and functional issues. this was viewed as more of a design issue. However this is open to debate as I researched this and discovered recommendations about (comfortable) functional distances between bathroom units. I didn't know if these recommendations are enshrined in UK law so perhaps they do not apply to flats.

I was happy with the overall report and the surveyor's advice which was very good value in the greater context of a building purchase (about £200). I felt that the surveyor understood my query and was empathetic to my concerns. The admin/reception team were also very polite, friendly, and organised with the appointment system though I didn't sense any empathy with my follow-up query as the admin/reception asked twice whether I wanted to book a follow-up paid report (the company offers a part two survey after the snagging has been done, another fee similar to round 1). I was hoping for a fuller open discussion on the point I had raised in relation to the initial report I had paid for, and it had been my intention to still proceed to purchase the second part of NBI's snagging service which is NBI's follow up service after the builders have gone through the list. I may have misunderstood the extent of what the fee covers though I still felt that the customer service response was (politely) dismissive. NBI is a good business and I would still recommend them as such; the report is good value and has been useful. My rating is based on the overall experience with the business and I hope it is helpful.

I used New Build Inspections to snag my new build home just over a year ago. I had never bought a new house before and was advised by my solicitor that a professional snagger would help spot snags. I just don't think the resulting report was worth the money. For several hundred pounds I received a list of snags which was mainly about finishing i.e. paint. Sure there were one or two other snags spotted but the big point is they missed loads of other snags that I or visitors spotted. I would advise against wasting any money on 'professional snagging'. Just do it yourself over time. It's far easier for the end user to spot these issues than someone spending literally one afternoon in the property.
