The Holiday Letting Agents and Certain Owners are in for a serious shock, the Terms and Conditions right now are clearly frustrated, and they hang onto to the hope the public will forget. Note to self, contact the owner direct, with whom you will have the contract, have an understanding, in writing if necessary, and avoid letting agents.I feel for the staff, not the wealthy owners or directors.

Have tried to cancel my holiday in July this year, and was told they are too busy to do this. I have sent emails trying to cancel the holiday, and today have written a letter, and sent it to them. I have taken a photocopy of the letter. I cannot understand whats going on with this Company.

We are longterm customers of Norfolk Hideaways and had booked a cottage for the end of July, deposit paid, balance due early May.

I have just spoke to Norfolk Hideaways to ask what we can do in light of the coronavirus situation.
I was told that the balance would still be due in May but that we can move the booking by upto 12 months from the original date.

I am very reluctant to pay another £500+ upfront in the hope that...

A, Norfolk Hideaways is still in business by that date, or...

B, The homeowner has not ceased accepting bookings or sold the property etc, gone bankrupt etc.

There is no insurance available anywhere for this either due to the current situation.

I was told that unless I pay the balance on time, the deposit would be lost and the booking cancelled.

I am pretty sure that we should be eligible for at least a partial refund of our deposit but they said not...

I would like to urge Norfolk Hideaways to do the right thing by its loyal customers as other companies are doing right now.

Recent holiday booked with this company at Wells Next The Sea. The issues at the property were of sufficient magnitude that my wife and I decided to abandon the holiday early and return home. I have some doubt whether this company inspect the properties they advertise on a regular basis. I would recommend anyone booking a self catering holiday to use a company that gives a star rating for the properties advertised.

Greedy company.
We booked in in Feb, for mid May 2019. Regret due to very serious health issues we have to cancel. Contacted Norfolk hideaways in March. Have been told that even if they re let the property we can only get back 50%.
Airbnb, hotels, and homeaway have all refunded in full.
Beware. Steer clear, we think this is an extremely greedy and unsympathetic company. Of course we are disappointed to cancel, we are in a worrying situation.

We booked a holiday cottage in Thornham with this company and stayed last week. We had issues with rennovation work being carried out next door but knew that the cottage was in the same ownership as our cottage. We were not informed of this building work by NH either before our stay or during. We feel we should have been offered an alternative cottage or the chance to cancel as we would not have stayed there had we known. We phoned NH on Friday morning to inform them of the demolition works being carried out next door and they said they would contact the owner and get back to us. We are now back home and 3 days after phoning have not heard anything from NH or the owner. We are very disappointed with this ‘service’ it ruined our holiday. I would suggest using another holiday cottage rental company in North Norfolk, we have used a couple of different ones for previous holidays (been visiting N Norfolk for 7 years) and have never had any problems.

Update: Almost two months later and still had no response!
5 years later and no response !
Finally responded 5 years after the event and asked me to remove the review in exchange for a discount voucher for cottage booking. No thanks, will never book with you again!
