I dealt with Krissy today who was absolutely brilliant she promptly responded to my query and resolved the issue within about 10 minutes.

Paid for an annual travel insurance with Pen Underwriting, via my employment .Wife landed up needing an op, on the day we should of flown out.
Our claim was rejected by Pen Underwriting,on the basis that it was an ongoing condition that directly or indirectly applied.
Our stand point is, we have no idea that this ongoing condition would ultimately result in an operation. It may have resolved with time, or some sort of drug treatment for instance. Also it is was an annual policy commencing April 2025. With the holiday being cancelled in 2026 once we were given an operation date.
On the date when we booked the holiday, there was no indication that an operation was required.
That changed when she had a subsequent MRI scan, but that came after we had booked up.
We don't have a crystal ball or the like, have no way of telling an op would ultimately be required.
This is the first time as a 62 yr old ,I've had to turn to our travel insurance. And it's worthless! In my opinion our scenario is exactly why you would select Travel Insurance.
Very very disappointed, frustrated,disallusioned with Pen Underwriting.

We have been through the appeal process.To no avail.
Be warned !! there is no latitude, for application of definitions. Sorry to bore you all, but we had no way of telling an operation was required to correct my wife's condition, until the MRI scan, which was booked and attended some time after our holiday was booked. Ours was an annual policy which made no difference to the outcome. Pen Underwriting were happy to take our money knowing full well, they could apply their definition of ongoing condition, being directly or indirectly responsible. ( Not a direct quote).
In our eyes, this type of situation is exactly why you would buy travel insurance. Going forward, it certainly won't be from this mob.

Both Abbie and Gabbie are extremely friendly and helpful.

I've had multiple conversations with Gabbie today,
Brilliant service from start to finish I can not fault her.

Luke was extremely helpful, query sorted promptly and immediate response to follow up email.

Gabbie was quick to respond and get policy amendments processed in good time.

Claim was handled well in terms of agreeing costs . Only thing that was negative was the time it took for replies from the advisor, often a week at a time. Settlement was also extremely slow.

Great support and service, felt very supported and outcome was successful. Great use of language in all correspondence. Helped us through a very difficult time.

The service from Cheryl King and Megan Richards was exceptional on a motor notification. I required urgent confirmation on a case which was addressed promptly, and even a referral contact was kept in copy whilst the team leader was on annual leave to ensure it was handled effectively.

Appalling 3rd party home insurer. Going to FCA and Ombusman and have no doubt I will win given all the evidence. To avoid them writing the generic response "please give us your claim reference" to feign sympathy ... HERE YOU GO: PEN208978. Please feel free to publically explain why you will not cover the leak detected in the doorway between my hallway and kitchen.

Everything was so simple during my claim.

My experience with Pen Underwiting is that they are a professional firm who are genuinely looking to deliver good outcomes for their customers

Praveen Yasudev was very helpful throughout my dealings with Pen. He was efficient and very professional.

Gabbie couldn't have been more helpful in resolving a potentially tricky cancellation situation involving a transferred policy / multiple brokers. Quickly resolved without hassle to a satisfying conclusion for all parties.

As a broker, it's always a pleasure dealing with the team at Pen. They make my job easier and are willing to do whatever they can to help.

Very quick turnaround on claims handling. Helpful and knowledgeable staff who do what they say they'll do. Very good service altogether. 10/10
