Awful experience with psychiatry UK
Awful experience with psychiatry UK. If you are an NHS patient you will have a maximum of 12 weeks to trial medications (they might consider a further 1 or 2 weeks dependant on the case) and after that you will be discharged if not improving/responding to treatment. They only offer two medications which are both stimulant based for patients to trial and don’t offer any other medications to trial as part of initial titration. I did not get on with the stimulant based medications due to my long standing issues with insomnia but they would not allow me to trial non-stimulant based medications despite asking. I was informed I would be discharge from titration services following not getting on with the two stimulant based medications but would be kept under psychiatry UK for an annual review where they would consider this for me non-stimulant based medications. I was then informed I had actually been discharged back to the GP and advised for GP to refer back to psychiatry UK if I wanted further trials with different ADHD medications such as non-stimulant options. The fact it has taken 3 years from initial GP referral to get to this point, and then to be discharged back to GP and ask my GP to then refer back to them for ongoing management is completely unacceptable. This is not fair on patients who are facing unacceptable delays in their care or clinicians where this is wasting admin and resource time. As a medical professional myself I know this is simply not acceptable care and raised a complaint which was internally investigated by psychiatry UK. The outcome was that everything had been managed acceptably and psychiatry UK again advised me to ask GP for referral back to them. This all comes down to privatisation of the NHS and private companies trying to profit on multiple referrals when the patient has been discharged before they were adequately managed. I shall be taking this further and asking for an external review of my case. I will be making sure other clinicians have awareness about the limitations of psychiatry UK as a service for patients (eg 12 week limit of titrations, only offering stimulant medications).

Overall an excellent service
The prescribing nurses, psychiatrist and phone line staff were all very helpful and my experience was overall very positive. I did not successfully titrate however as I had some ongoing medical issues that meant I had problems continuing on the medication. This however was not an issue caused by Psychiatry UK. The only thing I found stressful and difficult was the prescription side of things. Having ADHD and trying to stay on top of when to reorder meds then make arrangements around delivery. I wish this side of things was a bit easier but I understand that the drugs are restricted medication.

Staff amazing, waiting times agonising
The staff are amazing, but the wait times agonising, and Psychiatry UK keep extending them for NHS RTC pathway. It is so hard not to become more anxious while waiting. Managing a condition without medication while waiting 2 years requires treatment itself!

I'm really happy with the service provided during titration proces. The online portal was easy to use. My presciber provided a quick response to any issues or conserns I had. I felt fully informed of the process.

Dr Helen is incredible — she took the time to really listen, and found the perfect medication for me that has made such a positive difference to my life. Simple and fast
This was an exceptionally easy and fast process.
From my referral, I quickly received a response from Psychiatric UK, allowing me to book an assessment appointment, which I had the following week.
I'm just awaiting the written results, but from referral to diagnosis was around 2-3 weeks
