Excellent facilities and great staff
Excellent facilities and great staff, friendly and professional and very high standard of care. I had an operation through Bupa with a surgeon of my choice. Spire Manchester was the most convenient location and I was very well looked after in my overnight stay.
Mistake after mistake at Spire Lea Cambridge
I underwent an acl operation at the Spire hospital in Cambridge at the end of July 2026. Right from the point of receiving the first wrongly inflated quote to being on the point of discharge with the wrong medication having been actioned, it has been a litany of mistakes.
Currently at stage 2 of their complaints procedure and I can only assume I will end up taking them to court to resolve.

In the past is would have rated the hospital high but of more recent the customer service has been poor. Appointments changed without any contact and rarely on time,as much as an hour late. If you book the first daily appointment dont expect to be seen first as some specialists may have arranged for someone additional to be added to the list wuthout notifying the hospital team and the appointment could be at at the same time as yours with you having to wait without notification or apology. Staff dont always appear motivated and can be unhelpful.if they dont know what to do they tend to ignore you. Best service has been from the main receptionist and MRI staff. It appears there are many of the specialists workwithin NHS and privately hence appointments are not so readily available and at a higher risk of being rescheduled and if they are unsure of next steps might just pass you onto someone they know just for the sake of it which does not instill confidence in their skills and can be very time-consuming. If you complain the process of investigation is very painful.
Private healthcare here in my opinion is not what it would have been a few years back and the hospital needs to monitor the standards of the staff they employ or contract with more closely. I oersonally would not reccommend tje spire

Great team across the board
Great team across the board from reception, surgery, nursing and porters, always on time, kept informed, friendly, simple explanation of procedures and recovery time bands. physio with literature and pictures to ensure you get it right at home. There for you quickly at a press of a buzzer day and night. Contact No given for any questions/concerns once at home.

PreOp experience left much to be desired. The cuff on your blood Pressure machine was worn out and therefore loose . Furthermore the nurse forgot to carry out an ECG and I had to return to the hospital to have it taken and then one of the stickers was left on my chest which later caused some irritation.
Post op. the day shift became less attentive and it wasn't until the night shift came on duty did I feel reassured that my care was in good hands. this shift was the best that I experienced.
On the morning of 25th I was given repeated assurances that I did not have to feel obliged to leave that day. However by 4pm there was an unseemly rush to get me out, even trying to contact the surgeon for an early release remotely. I regrettably gave in to the pressure which resulted in a bad reaction to 2 codeine on the 26th.
I went to Spire healthcare as an NHS patient and was treated that way
I went to Spire healthcare as an NHS patient, I couldn't have felt more insulted. When I arrived I was asked my name and then quite inappropriately and condescendingly asked if I was an NHS patient a number of times. I was then told that my appointment had been cancelled - was I not told, if I had have been told I would not have made the journey?? I was told that my appointment had been changed to the following week and I was not the only person that had turned up for appointment that had been cancelled. I had taken time off of work for this appointment and now would have to take even more time off. When I arrived back for my appointment the same thing happened again so your an NHS patient was loudly repeated. I was directed to the area of my appointment and was seen pretty much straight away, which was good, however I had two nurses sitting behind me which made me feel uncomfortable and the Dr basically asked me why I had been sent to here rather than going to see ENT at RSCH I had seen a year or so ago as if I had made the choice. I was in and out the appointment in no longer than 8 minutes maybe less during which time I had the equipment used to go up my nose and down my throat and was expected to talk to him during this already uncomfortable procedure. I was directed to have a sleep test and could return for an appointment if needed within a year, I will ask never to be sent there again, the whole experience was unexpected.

I would give zero if that was an option.
I am covered with Bupa. The consultant I was seeing was struck off so Bupa agreed to waive excess and regardless cover scan costs.
Spire even though have been told this have failed to contact Bupa for the payment they will cover and in addition sending me threatening emails about final payments and CCJS. They send everything from do not reply emails and no one answers the phone or call back.
It’s disgraceful

Septorhinoplasty…
I had a revision septorhinoplasty operation on 9.9.26 at Spire Hull. My consultant Patrick Jasser was outstanding from start to finish. He put me at ease right from my first referral visit and throughout the process. He has a confident and reassuring manner and I felt incredibly well cared for and informed throughout my appointments and my hospital admission. I was treated with respect and felt valued by him and by all staff at Spire Hull.
I felt looked after
I had my operation at Norwich Spire Clinic two weeks ago and I was very happy with my stay. The room was clean, tidy and spacious, and the food was good.
The nurses were professional and vhelpful. A special big thank you to Laura, Raquel and Melissa in Lavender ward, who were very kind, caring and patient. They really made me feel comfortable.
The only thing I would mention is the discharge time. I was given different information about what time I would be discharged, so I had to change my pickup several times. Even the final time I was given wasn’t correct. However, once this was realised, the staff dealt with it very quickly and everything was arranged without any delay.
Overall, I had a very comfortable stay and felt well cared for. Thank you to all the team. 🙏

I wish I'd gone to the Cromwell in London.
I got an appointment with Mr Hand to review a shoulder and I need an MRI which is pretty obvoius as I was referred by a physio and already got pre authorisation from BUPA to pay for the MRI.
He couldn't get it MRI'd on the same day whilst I had travelled all the way there and said someone would be in touch with me. I mailed his secretary and I've got an OOO for pretty much every secretary who seems to deal with appointments.
If I had gone to the Cromwell they would have scanned me and worked out what was wrong on the same day.
I already had to wait two weeks to see Mr Hand and probably will now need to wait again and god knows when they'll do the scan
Next time I will go to London for treatment as this is very poor. I am now awake at 4am in teh morning with no idea what is wrong despite travelling to the hospital yesterday and no idea when I'll be able to have the scan.
