Had to have a full hip replacement, after having a knee replacement the previous year I was slightly nervous about going through another major surgery procedure.
But throughout I had great service from all the staff , I had slight nervousness about my epidural from last time , but this time it was smooth and more stress free .
Food was fantastic also, some of the staff went beyond expectations and made stay really nice considering procedure had

The hospital was brilliant and the staff were excellent.

I had a total hip replacement and it was the first time I had ever had an operation in my life at the age of 79 . Obviously I was very nervous but I was put at ease by my consultant and staff reassurance. They were all amazing at the spire hospital I couldn’t have asked for better care from them and the physiotherapist excellent hospital all round.

Washington Spire Hospital,at last a hospital that treats patients with care and respect ,excellent facilities ,exceptionally clean and comfortable premises and staff that are professional in all aspects of their work,others could learn alot from this hospital on care and respect,of others

Overall my experience was good with Spire as an outpatient surgical patient of Dr Emmet Griffiths. His services were second to none and the anaesthetist was very personable and professional too. Nursing staff were fine, no complaints at all but frustratingly I was never told verbally that any take home medication was billed to me directly and not my insurance, apparently this is standard. Ended up with a bill for £86 for drugs I didn’t need. Queried with billing department who confirmed I would need to pay. Disappointed this wasn’t pointed out to me prior to discharge as I wouldn’t have accepted the bag of medication but would have sort relief from over the counter remedies at a fraction of the cost. I am now stuck with a bottle on morphine and a box of laxatives that haven’t need used. Can’t throw them in the bin as this would be irresponsible and likely illegal with a hefty price tag of £19 each!

It was an amazing experience. I felt completely at ease and very safe. The staff from your consultants, nurses physiotherapist down to the catering staff couldn’t do enough for you. The care is superb I couldn’t fault it at all.

A totally amazing and safe stay in hospital. Thank you to every member of the staff teams who really made my stay the best it could be.
