Our books are in their new home! The 7x9 in pine is mine! - We're chuffed to bits with our new bookcase!

Being in Scotland, I emailed regarding delivery, and after being told it was no problem, a delivery run was going to happen in December, the order was placed. When I was contacted to say it was ready, and would be delivered in late November, we still had a couple of things to sort out with the room it was going in - so I rang up to find out whether it would be better to have the carpet fitted before or after the bookcase... Before! was the advice, since even this fairly large bookcase comes apart in sensible sized pieces so can be moved like any other piece of furniture! Thanks for the advice, and for the early delivery!

The bookcase we bought is beautifully made and solid wood throughout.
The guy who makes them delivers the bookcase too which was really excellent service.

The product was perfect and great value. This is a small business and the owner makes the furniture by hand and delivers. We had a delay with delivery and I wondered if it was a scam. However, the end result was well worth waiting for.

Incredible 6ft by 8ft bookshelf made and delivered by Stamford bookcase company to Edinburgh. Made to our exact specification to fit an alcove in our living room. Fits exactly and is the perfect addition to our home.

I've had an excellent experience with this company. Telephone and e mail communication was really helpful prior to purchase of our 8 x 9 foot white pine bookcase with intergral cupboards and ladder.Delivery was prompt and personal with the order being completed before the due date.
The bookcases and workmanship are of an excellent standard. They neatly interlock. They sit perfectly in their plinth at the base and the cornice finishes them well on top.The paint finish is good with white sprayed acrylic paint. I like the shelf depth and sturdy shelve height adjusting rods.The cupboards are roomy and the handle finish good. We are really delighted with the result and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Had a really great experience receiving my bookcase! It’s absolutely beautiful and Jon communicated with me throughout the process to create exactly what I wanted. Delivery was fast considering a made or measure beautiful piece. I will definitely come here for all my bespoke bookcase needs!

Initial communication was good and wanted to place an order for a slightly adjusted bookcase to the one advertised, and asked for a written quote. The chap got in touch to say my "email address wasn't working" but it transpired that he was using an incorrect one. I told him the correct one, several times, and no quote sent through. I then telephoned the shop directly and left a message, which was totally ignored. Absolutely shocking way to do business. I was really disappointed as the bookcase looked lovely, but frankly there are too many red flags here for me - inability to send an email, not responding to messages and completely ignoring a customer trying to spend about a grand and a half. I would probably avoid, just gives out very dodgy vibes.

……when will you send me the missing slat? It’s so small and cheap to send and its absence has stopped me ft using the bottom shelf properly for over a year now…….
Also maybe you are mixing up customers as my bank statement shows I paid you over £700!
Re the below have just seen the reply which was given a year later!!! I was not unpleasant throughout but rather scared I had been scammed of a lot of money since I had zero communication for months beyond what the website and the initial confirmation said and was told when I phoned that the delay was because the person making the bookcase had over committed to too many orders … nothing to do with location…and my emails had been ignored because his wife was doing the admin part time. A friend greeted the person when he delivered and said he was taciturn so our view was rather that he was rude not us. And the bookcase is great EXCEPT it is missing one slat so one shelf has been held up by books for a year now and my occasional emails asking for the tiny slat to be posted me have been ignored. So I remain unhappy and really it would be better if the vendor was honest in his reply. I had actually felt some sympathy since he is making great products alone and trying to make ends meet but if I pay nearly £1000 and hear nothing for months and months that sympathy erodes

. I ordered a bookcase in mid December with an 8 week delivery time... it is only coming end April.
I ordered a similar hand made bookcase from another company and that arrived at the start of march. Turns out Stamford is a one man show … but so was the other one…; they both makethe bookcases. I feel sorry that I have to write a bad review but in the end if you are in business and you cannot cope you should advise the customer before taking their money. It’s about managing expectations. I had just moved and am still surrounded by books in boxes that I need to get to for my work.
