Sun-Hat Villas & Resorts make you feel valued as a customer from start to finish. Their staff are knowledgeable and work hard to find you what you want for your holiday. We had a significant water leak issue at our gorgeous villa in Portugal. Chris, our Sun-Hat in country rep, answered the phone immediately and had it all sorted with the house owner and a plumber pretty instantly. Within a couple of hours it was like it never happened. This is the mark of a good company; not that there are never problems, but how those problems are dealt with. Their range and quality of accommodation is excellent. You can rest assured the villas or resorts under their banner will be prime. This is not a shot in the dark holiday accommodation site; it’s well chosen, well looked after property.
Having a Sun-Hat rep do a lot of the leg work on finding us a holiday rental home is one of the main reasons for coming back to them again. As I said to my husband this year, when we were dithering on where and when to go on holiday, ‘if Sun-Hat don’t go there then neither are we’. But luckily they have a lot of choice, even for last minute bookers like us. Great staff + great accommodation = great company. sun-Hat is a brand to be trusted.

We have always had a fantastic experience with Sun Hat. The villas are consistently amazing, and the team are friendly, professional and incredibly helpful from start to finish.
Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything runs smoothly. Their knowledge, service and attention to detail give you complete confidence when booking and staying at one of their villas.

Great service and a very positive experience
We had a great experience booking our villa through Sun-hat and I would definitely recommend them.
From the booking process through to our stay, the team was very responsive. Whenever I had a question, both before and during the holiday, they came back to me quickly and were always helpful. The payment schedule was also straightforward and easy to manage.
Our local representative was excellent, and overall we were very happy with the villa and had a lovely stay. There were a couple of things about the property that I felt could be improved, which I have shared directly with Sun-hat, but these didn’t detract from our overall experience with the company.
I would happily book with Sun-hat again.

I normally book villa holidays…
I normally book villa holidays independently but on this occasion the villa I had found was advertised on the sun hat website. The whole experience of booking with sun hat has been a joy from start to finish. A particular shout out to Ann Evison and Naomi Belsham who were particularly helpful. The concierge service has gone above and beyond, and is truly the point of difference. Looking forward to our week away!

Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience – not the “refined villa” advertised
We booked Villa Mar through Sun-hat Villas for a 10-day family holiday, expecting the refined standard that was advertised. Unfortunately, our experience has been very disappointing.
The air conditioning downstairs, where some of the bedrooms are located, has not worked since we arrived. We have raised this issue multiple times, yet seven days into our holiday, nobody has been to inspect or repair it. This has made sleeping conditions extremely uncomfortable, particularly for a family holiday.
There have also been ongoing problems with the pool losing water, which we have reported repeatedly. Someone finally came on day 7 to address the pool issue, but the jacuzzi is still not working. Given that the pool losing water had been raised several times, it is extremely frustrating that it took seven days for anyone to attend to it.
There are also a number of maintenance and condition issues around the villa. The decking around the pool is in poor condition, with boards coming loose, which is concerning from both a maintenance and safety perspective. The kitchen is also tired and dated, with drawers that are warped and not functioning as you would expect.
The level of housekeeping has also been disappointing. It is now 6pm on day 7 of our 10-day holiday and no cleaners have been to change the bed linen or towels. For a property advertised as a refined villa, this is simply not the standard of service we expected.
We understand that Sun-hat Villas are reliant on a local company to manage the property, but that is, and should not be, our problem as paying guests. Our contract and expectations are with Sun-hat, and we should not have to spend our holiday chasing their local representatives to resolve basic maintenance and housekeeping issues.
It is particularly disappointing that we have had to raise issues and chase for action virtually every day of our holiday. The responses have often been unhelpful, and there has been very little urgency in getting problems resolved.
Overall, the villa feels tired (parts of sun covering outside torn and dropping over table) and is not what we would consider a refined property. For a property marketed as a refined villa, and at the price you would expect to pay for that standard, this experience has fallen well short of expectations. We have spent far too much of our holiday dealing with issues that should have been resolved before our arrival or addressed promptly once reported.
Based on our experience so far, we would not recommend Villa Mar or Sun-hat Villas.

You are absolutely right that, having booked through Sun-hat Villas, you should not have had to spend your holiday repeatedly chasing maintenance issues or housekeeping. Regardless of whether services are delivered by a local property management company, the responsibility for your overall holiday experience ultimately rests with us.
Throughout your stay, our resort representative remained in regular contact with you, visited the villa personally to assess the issues, and repeatedly escalated them with the local property management company in an effort to have them resolved as quickly as possible. We know this did not change the experience you had, but we are incredibly grateful for the commitment, persistence and care she showed in trying to help during what was clearly a very frustrating situation.
Unfortunately, on this occasion, the level of service provided in resort fell well below both your expectations and ours. We fully appreciate how disappointing it must have been to experience ongoing issues during what should have been a relaxing family holiday. Your feedback has been shared with the local property management company who we have placed under review as part of our ongoing commitment to quality.
Reading your review is disappointing for us because it isn't the holiday we set out to deliver. Whilst experiences like this are exceptionally rare for us, that is of little comfort when you are the family experiencing it. Our focus now is ensuring that the shortcomings highlighted during your stay are addressed so that future guests receive the standard that both they - and we - expect.
Thank you again for taking the time to leave your feedback. We sincerely apologise that your holiday did not reflect the level of service and quality that Sun-hat Villas is known for.
