Berwick Shellfish Co Avis 

I ordered 10 dressed crabs and one side of smoked salmon for a celebration party we were hosting for friends. I ordered at the start of week with a delivery date set for the Friday morning. Just before 3pm the parcel finally arrived being carried sideways by the courier who was royal mail. Upon opening we found that the gelpacks used to keep the contents cool had all split and were all over the contents, worse than that though was the temperature of the package which was at around 30 degrees centigrade, all the crab were around that temperature when checked by probe. As we didn't know how long they had been at that temperature we couldn't risk consuming them so it all went in the bin. We provided Berwick Shellfish with lots of photos showing the state of the package, gelpacks and temperature reading but no response! My wife then decided to phone them and they said "someone will look into this and get back to you" 2 weeks later we still haven't heard anything back!
The order was over £150, we didn't get any edible seafood, disappointed our guests because the crab we promised was inedible and unsafe - Then we find out Customer Service is not something Berwick Shellfish Understand! - Please beware, inadequately package, delayed and over temperature - Terrible experience - I won't be back

Great quality, reliable

I ordered a crab from Berwick Shellfish described as:

"Whole Cooked Male Crab ( 1.5-1.8kg each )

The Biggest , The freshest & if you like claw meat, these are a feast of white crab meat. Each crab LIVE WEIGHT is around 1.7kg each, simply the biggest around. Caught 25-30 miles off our Berwickshire coastline, we take pride on our local produce. These are some of the largest crabs caught in UK waters."

Instead on the large crab I ordered, I received 2 small crabs each around 1kg.

The "HUGE" crab was ordered specifically as a showpiece along with 2kg of JUMBO crab claws & 12 oysters. The crab claws and oysters were excellent, but the crab wasn't what I ordered and I immediately sent an email with photographs showing the weights and asking for a replacement/refund. I have now sent Berwick Shellfish 4 emails but have not received a reply to any of them.

The total lack of customer service is disappointing as previous orders have been correctly fulfilled.

My order value was over £100 and I have been a frequent customer, but won't be any more.

The best dressed lobster I have ever had, really meaty and the addition of prawns and very large shell on prawns made it very special. I will only order from Berwick Shellfish Co from now on. Brilliant.

Seafood was delivered before 12am .The delivery notification from Berwick and Royal Mail tracking was very useful. The fish and seafood was excellent , fresh, and well packaged .

fast delivery, well packed, and so fresh. shellfish is my passion there's not many shellfish companies i have not used, and few i would go back to again. but this berwick shellfish company stands out above them all.

Everything i ordered came as it should and delivered on time ....

Packet of Whitebait was almost defrosted, bag was wet outside. Prepared Lobster dish, Lobster tail end was hard and chewy. Email for advice about whitebait not answered

Have been a long standing customer, but will never use these guys again!
Made and paid for a order on the 19th march for delivery, the following week. Delivery never turned up and when I checked their website, it just says order is unfulfilled ,have called them 3 times each time speaking with someone and them promising, someone will be back in touch to resolve the issue, I have also emailed them but its now the 10th april over 3 weeks since my order and i've still had zero contact from them... I've just spent the last 40 minutes trying to call them. But no one has answered.
AVOID THIS COMPANY!
And use someone else!

First class whelks and crab claws

Ordered two large cooked lobsters and couple other seafood from here to be delivered in Norfolk. They arrived fresh and tasted very good!!! I think they even upgraded one of the lobsters from a large lobster into a jumbo lobster!!! Cause that second one was huge! Thank you so much Berwick Shellfish! This is now my go-to seafood website!

I have sent a note to suggest how bad it was, but shant be buying again

The crab was delicious but the lobster and king prawns were disappointing. We have bought both from you before and they were lovely. This time however both were overcooked and did not give the good eating experience that we are used to enjoying from your usually excellent produce

Fairly easy to order online instead of on the phone.
Ordered dressed lobster for my wife’s birthday (her favourite which she hasn’t had for a couple of years) Although I had email confirmation, I didn’t hear from them until the morning of the delivery (awkward birthday was on Easter Sunday with bank holiday on the Friday) Alot pf companies bombard you with emails every 5 minutes, but they didn’t (which was good, BUT I was getting worried that it wouldn’t arrive when promised! I was getting worried that I hadn’t heard, I was going to call them but suddenly I got emails and the lobster arrived at 7:30ish!
Very well packed and in great condition. Apparently, the lobster was great, so despite having had a dodgy experience a couple of years ago, I risked ordering from them….however, I was very pleased and glad I did! Gave 4 stars because of the lack of communication after placing the order!
