DO NOT SIGN UP WITH BUNGALOW

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH BUNGALOW! Luckily I did not complete the lease agreement because of the numerous 'RED FLAGS' throughout the sign up process.

The Bungalow website listing showed a spotless and renovated home with a room for $660/month, which is about $100 less than comparable properties listed on Craigslist.

The 'main tenant' and I didn't wait for Bungalow to introduce each other; I just gave him my number and we met at the property. He has been with HomeShare Online/Bungalow for about 6 years and his only question for me was "what fees is Bungalow going to charge you?" and "who at Bungalow did I talk to?" He then told me that Bungalow had been charging them fees that our State laws prohibit and that he's owed about $10K in illegally charged fees. He was working on collecting information and documentation to hold Bungalow accountable. He also told me that the 'cleaning service' they all pay for hadn't cleaned in several months. He showed me the Utility bills that Bungalow charges and the bills were about 3 times what they should be. The room was a complete mess, with stained carpets, scrapped up baseboards, and the like. I learned that Bungalow charged the former room tenant an absorbent 'cleaning fee', but obviously Bungalow just collected the fees and did zero cleaning/maintenance. The main tenant also shared a few horror stories of previous Bungalow properties he had lived in. The tenant was friendly and honest, and I was desperate, so I decided to move forward with the sign up process.

After Bungalow realized that the main tenant and I had already online chatted each other, Bungalow called me. They told me that instead of $660/month, it was about $900/month for utilities and 'the other fees'. Still desperate to find a place, I decided to try to move forward with the sign up process. After scanning my ID and giving them my SS# to 'soft check' my back ground, they referred me to TheGuarantors, which is a bond company asking for a non-refundable fee of $1000.

I emailed Bungalow my spotless rental history and said I can increase my security deposit and pre-pay my first 6 months of rent, as long as I pay it to Bungalow directly, and not to some 3rd party company they're referring me to. The only response I've seen is to give my money away to TheGuarantors.

I don't know the entire history of HomeShare Online/Bungalow, but based on my experience, I would say that they are making money by referring you to a 3rd party bond company and then charging you more than what they advertise, while collecting service fees for not providing you with the services they charge you for. VERY MUCH LIKE A BAIT & SWITCH SCAM, while charging you extra fees for nothing.

I mov3d out and they're still trying to charge me for things. I've, emailed, called and texted every phone number, email, or website I can find for them and I get no response. They do not care. This is the same company that will ignore residents about having no air conditioning in 100+ degree weather for weeks on end until said residents spam them with maintenance emails and then when they finally send someone to even check it out(not fix just check out) they will scream at you for having to do their job. Very unprofessional and unpleasant to deal with.

Worst experience EVER!

My experience with Bungalow was a complete disaster. If I could give this company negative stars, I would.
I was initially drawn in by the beautiful photos on their website and the reputable-sounding name. After being approved, I received a warm welcome via phone and text, congratulating me and inviting me into the “Bungalow family.” The leasing manager was friendly and helpful, guiding me through the leasing process and setting up my online portal. I paid my deposit and first month’s rent upfront—sight unseen—based solely on the pictures and the company’s policy discouraging visits before move-in “out of respect for current tenants.” That was my first big mistake.
The day after signing, I contacted the leasing manager to confirm move-in details and schedule my movers. He replied via text, promising to send the entry codes the morning of my move. I also asked a few minor questions, which went unanswered. Then I received an email with my roommates’ contact info, encouraging me to introduce myself. Two of the three responded—and both warned me not to move in.
One had already left due to a severe pest infestation. The other had only been there a month and was actively trying to transfer to another property. They urged me to get my money back immediately.
I tried to contact Bungalow through every channel—calls, texts, emails—to every person I had spoken to. No one responded. Finally, a day later, I got a call asking about the situation.
I expressed my grievances extensively and made it clear I would not be moving forward with the lease. I had already filed a claim with my bank for a full refund and emphasized that I should not be penalized for breaking a lease, since I never actually moved in. I also shared how unsettling it was to be completely ignored during a crisis, and how lucky I was to have received honest warnings from the roommates—otherwise, I would have walked into a nightmare.
The representative was very apologetic and assured me they would cooperate with the bank’s claims process to ensure the refund. He also said the situation would be escalated so it wouldn’t affect my credit, and that my feedback would be taken seriously to improve future rentals.
In conclusion: "BUGALOW" needs to get their act together—otherwise, they’ve got one heck of a good scam going.

Avoid at all cost. Or you will pay.

These people only care about taking money away from you. They bill right before rent is due, and threaten (and do use) late fees if you don't pay every fee or thing they wanted, way before you even get the chance to dispute. They won't ask for utilities and then years later send you a bill. They don't follow state laws. They will keep your money even if they didn't deserve it. They will ghost you, threaten you with evictions to push you to pay for things that are illegal. Stay away from these people. They operate like an extortion racket and only care about taking your money away from you whether its legal or not.

Bungalow is scam

Bungalow is scam, they take money and don't do anything with it it other than line their own pockets. I am an owner and I cannot tell you how many issues we have had with them ranging from city violations for lack of maintenance, to losing my insurance for lack of maintenance. It truly is a disastrous company with zero management skills. I have spoken with the tenants, they all have left. The ones remaining have tried to move out but their requests to move aren't being responded to by Bungalow. I have tried to sell the property and told them months ago not to renew the leases, they kept renewing. All they want is to get the extra months of rent charges from the tenants. Tenants are constantly left in the dark, houses are left in a horrible state, and Bungalow just keeps on going not answering messages. There isn't a phone number to call to talk to someone, you have to do everything through a pretty much unmanaged email, might as well email a "no-reply" address. It's ridiculous how useless their team, if you can call it that, of people can be.

Worst property management company in…

Worst property management company in the world. Absolutely never rent from them. They changed the service fee halfway through my lease to something I did not sign for and said "the change was on their website"
Maintenance requests take months even for serious matters like mold, plumbing electrical.

They are impossible to get and of and take no accountability for any short comings.

HIDDEN FEES

Two word - HIDDEN FEES. $700 of my $800 security deposit was taken for fees that were not specified before. Although it says $1000 per month, I ended up paying $1500 per month on a room in a noisy house with unclean bathrooms and kitchens.

Complete garbage company

Complete garbage company. Stay away! They tried to pressure me into signing a lease for a room for rent I have not seen in person!

It wouldn't make any sense at all for me to sign the lease before seeing the property in person, because if I end up not liking the place, then that would be bad for me. I am not comfortable signing a lease for a property I haven’t seen in person. It’s important for me to ensure the unit, environment, and roommates are a good fit before committing.

They said they dont allow in person tours prior to signing the lease for safety reasons. Okay so I am just supposed to put my safety at risk by signing a lease to live with a bunch of strangers I haven't even seen in person? And how does signing a lease mean someoeone wont commit a crime? A signed lease is just a legal agreement; it doesn’t magically prevent someone from being a bad tenant, committing crimes, or causing issues. If anything, it puts ME at a disadvantage because once I've signed, I'm locked in, even if the situation turns out to be unsafe or totally wrong for ME.

Since an in-person tour is not possible prior to signing, I will withdraw my application and rent my own place.

Hidden Fees but Supportive and Helpful Team

I was able to be assisted in a timely manner, and each of my problems was solved. The solutions were solved due to the state in which I was moving to since the state does not allow service fees, but the people were so kind and were happy to help solve the problems. They also gave me my first month for free, and answered each of my phone calls.

Worst. Company. Ever

Hello,

My name is Sydney Ziegler, and I am contacting you regarding a debt collection notice from Sequium on behalf of Bungalow for a property I never occupied and for a lease that was terminated.

Last August, I signed a lease with Bungalow. Shortly after signing, I was informed by a current tenant that one of the roommates had previously been arrested on assault charges—information that Bungalow was aware of prior to approving my lease. This is a clear violation of Colorado tenant safety laws, and I remain within my rights to pursue legal action.

Upon learning this, I immediately contacted Bungalow and communicated with Claudio Brocato in the leasing department via phone, text, and email. Claudio confirmed that I would be released from the lease and would not be held financially responsible. I was subsequently moved to another property, but that lease was also terminated due to basement flooding and concealment of property issues by Bungalow, as reported by current tenants.

Let me be very clear, I never took possession of either property. I never accepted keys to either property. I never even went into the room or house of either property.

Despite these facts, I have now received a debt collection notice implying I am financially liable for damages to the room that occurred sometime in this last year WHEN THE ROOM WAS NOT LEASED TO ME. I have already sent multiple emails to Bungalow explaining the situation and identifying the appropriate contacts to resolve this matter. They have not solved this at all despite that. IF YOU CARE ABOUR YOUR SAFETY AND CREDIT DO NOT RENT FROM BUNGALOW.

Bungalow is Predatory

Bungalow's operation is very opaque. They use the convenience of their application process to veil a remote management practice that profits through the use of micro-transactions. They attempt to charge you for services not listed in their lease agreements, and their customer support is very slow to respond once you've signed a lease. Be very careful with this company. I've been able to keep them accountable only by keeping detailed records of all of our written and spoken conversations.

Terrible property management company

I have a had a terrible experience with this company. A lot of the negative reviews here are accurate. I moved in about a month ago and the room was filthy. I had to spend several days cleaning it out to make it livable. There was dust, cat hair, and junk all over the place. The kitchen was disgusting. The stove was covered in
grease and dried food, the floor has dirt and mud all over it, and the fridge was awful. Their digital systems are terrible. The app and mobile versions don't work on an Android phone so you can't vet roommates or place maintenance requests unless you're on a desktop. You get constant OOO emails from their team. You pay a $200 service fee that is supposed to cover common area furnishings, but they don't repair or replace any of it. Our furniture has been broken and covered in stains for a few years! Despite numerous requests to fix it, they have taken no action. Our wifi was out for several days because they hadn't paid the bill for two months. Their customer agents are responsive, but they don't actually get anything done or move anything forward. The cleaning service only comes once a month and does a very superficial job. It's a terrible company and I would not recommend it.
