Bungalow Avis 

On March 29, 2025, I paid Bungalow Living Property Management, Inc. a $2,120.00 security deposit for 2642 Castello Way, Santa Clara, CA. Before moving in, my lease was transferred to another tenant. I am owed the full deposit plus $820.65 in prorated rent from the transfer, totaling $2,940.65. Despite multiple requests, no funds or accounting have been provided within the 21 days required by California Civil Code §1950.5.

Scumbag company, started at 750 all included with previous company lease takeover, now I pay 1100 monthly. If you rent with them, run.

I'm fairly certain its a phishing scam. They'll scan my ID and documents, and say Success! You've been Verified! ...then I click to "contact rental" and it says "You need to Verify your Identity! Scan your documents." (even though I just did, and it was approved) ... its a never ending loop. I reached out for support and they suggest I turn my phone Off and On. Ha! That didn't work obviously - it's an issue with their site, not my phone.

It doesn't work on desktop OR phone, so I genuinely don't know if any of the listings are real and they're just gathering data and documents to sell. Idk what their deal is, but safe or not, Bungalow.com wasted my time.

Great customer service

This is THE WORST rental agency that exists. DO NOT live here. They have ZERO screening for people moving into their units. They revoke your right to choose your roommates. They charge over $350 in fees on top of rent and utilities. They force $50 monthly cleanings onto you that have no value. They incorrectly charge your pro-rated rent, fees and utilities when you move out of the house and send you the bill. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!!!!!

All was easy

These devious snobs will never rent to older nor disabled finding any way at all to never rent to these groups. They are very discriminatory in their slick practices, total waste of time.

Mr. Arcel was very helpful and went through everything thoroughly so I understood what I was signing and why. The others were helpful too.

Bungalow made the process so easy!
The entire time I was looking for an apartment they were helping me with the process. Their interface is easy to navigate and their customer service is phenomenal. They are also very efficient, some of our calls only lasted 20 seconds and they were almost always available!

Bungalow operates like a black box. Once you sign a lease, you’re on your own with no real customer support, no escalation path, and no urgency to resolve anything. Every message I’ve received feels AI-generated or completely ignored. I’ve spent weeks trying to get help with issues that directly impact my housing and still, no response.

This isn’t just bad service. It’s deeply unprofessional and borderline predatory. They ignore urgent questions, and offer no way to speak to a real human who can take action. It's clear their business model depends on tenants giving up and staying silent.

This company should be investigated. I’ll be filing formal complaints and strongly urge others to think twice before trusting them with something as important as housing

Everything went quick, and the leasing agent was responsive and helpful.

Hi, I've been living in a bungalow house for about a month now. It's been my most horrible living experience ever.
It's summer, the temperature is 90+ degrees outside, and the AC doesn't work on the entire second floor! I have been sweating for a month. I contacted the bungalow support many, many times, and for a month they have been telling me to be patient!! What does that even mean? Be patient, the whole summer, and just keep sweating? And what about winter? I bet it will be freezing in here then. They don't care about you once you get your lease, then they are just looking for another person to sell the next lease to.
But the problems don't end here. This house has a big rodent problem. They roam freely in the house, they are in the kitchen at night, and they would also frequently come into our rooms in search of food. Again, the entire house complained about it, and they said it's none of our business. It's not like one rat got into the house; it's a big problem that the house owner has to fix by figuring out how the rats get into the house!
Lastly, they charge so many different fees, my rent was supposed to be $425, and in reality, I have to pay @720. They are completely scamming people at this point.
The only thing I'm happy about is that I have not taken a longer lease, and I want to leave this place as soon as possible.

PLEASE DON'T RENT A PLACE FROM THEM, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

Before Bungalow, there was their original company Homeroom. I used to pay $450 a month for the room, which was worth the price and the roommates were good. The only complaints I had were the lack of communication, phone lines, and their random mandatory manager meetups. But it was good living, and I could save up some cash. Until they went Bungalow, that's when it went horrible. They've added a $200 service fee, so essentially it's not $610. I was okay with it at first, like it's manageable. But then after 2 months later, they started being predatory and now raised the utility on my second last month until rent. So I went from $450, $720, to $1372 and majority of the prices weren't my rent, it was the extra fees they've add out of nowhere and act ignorant about. I'm on my last month, I cannot get anyone on the phone to talk to. Their stupid email is so unresponsive, you might as well mail them a letter. This company is just here to siphon your money and push you out on the streets. They really wanted me to leave early because the owner was to single lease this house, but now I can't because with all of their glory and wisdom they've siphon majority of my money due to their predatory practices. DONT MOVE INTO BUNGALOW! DON'T LISTEN TO THESE POSITIVE REVIEWS! THIS COMPANY IS A LIE, THERE'S NOTHING CHEAP ABOUT IT. ITS CHEAPER TO GET AN APARTMENT. ITS CHEAPER TO FIND A ROOMATE WHO'S WILLING TO RENT OUT A ROOM. It's CHEAPER TO SLEEP IN YOUR CAR AT THIS POINT. IF THEY LURE YOU INTO THEIR FALSE PROMISES, THEYLL JUST SUCK YOU UP AND SPIT DRY. WHATEVER THE RENT THEY DISPLAY ADD IT UP BY $350 AND INFINITY. I'm trying my hardest to move, but bungalow constant price raises are making it harder. Learn from my mistake, especially if you're someone who's poor like me. Stay safe guys.

The experience was great!

everything was smooth and easy to understand.

No issues with customer service. However, the lease terms are extremely sketchy and borderline predatory:

- No obligation to fix utilities in a reasonable time frame
- No reimbursement for time spent without critical utilities
- 60 DAYS of notice required before lease termination to avoid ONE YEAR of extended lease payments

If I didn't need to move on such short notice I would have chosen a different housing situation.

I invested initially with Homeroom which they bought but kept most of the same staff. They are horrible, avoid at all costs. Overpriced repairs since they use their team to do it. Work with real estate agents who give them biased reviews since they provide them with clients. And sales people who obviously lie a lot.

Incorrect access number to the front door. Noone home to greet me or answer the door to let me in. Called maintenance, they said they could come the next day and let me in. Split entry house, I'm in a basement room. Downstairs bathroom is nasty dirty. I spent literally 3 hours scrubbing the scum off the bathtub surround. Asked the other tenants, they can't remember the last time the cleaners came. Go to my room, the door is wide open. No idea if anyone has been wandering around in it prior to me arriving. First night there a cockroach fell.out of the ceiling duct onto my bed. Yay...put in a maintenance request, gets canceled because it's the tenants responsibility....

The property management is completely unreachable. they have tons of hidden fees. I rented a room for 1k a month and i got billed 1.7k each month due to all the hidden fees they have.

The property itself was disgusting had a roach, bedbug and a rat problem management was unwilling to do anything about.

I ended moving out a month early because it was completely unbearable.
