Cubitt & West Avis 

An appalling experience with Cubitt & West Chichester. Our property was marketed with an incorrect description, communication was poor, and we had very few viewings over seven months. On one occasion, the wrong key was taken to a viewing by the estate agent, meaning a buyer couldn’t access the property and we potentially lost a sale.

Most seriously, Cubitt & West lost our keys. We were initially handed someone else’s key and later told ours had been lost, creating a serious security risk. Only a replacement key was offered, so we are now in the process of changing the locks & covering this cost ourselves following advice from our insurer.

We also lost out on a prospective house due to miscommunication and poor handling. I would not recommend Cubitt & West.

Really pleased with all the help from Sales Progressor Julie. She was great with keeping us updated and explaining everything we needed to know along the way. Thank you for all your help Julie!

I’ve been looking to buy somewhere in Brighton for over a year and interacted with a range of sales agents. None are like Deborah Collins from the Home X development. During a very long process due to chain, the sale progressor Julie has been a huge help, keeping me in the loop about what was happening on top of the chain and very supportive with me when I felt like loosing my patience. I would like to thank Julie for her amazing work and also Tracey (sale advisor) when I was searching for houses!

Have to give a big shout out to Marc. He handled our tenancy excellently from start to finish and was always there with a quick response should any issue pop up.

Ive come not to expect too much of estate agents over the years, but ive got to say everyone at Cubitt and West Emsworth have been a great help during our house purchase.

From the inital viewing and putting our offer in the team were always prompt with responses and very helpful. Through to getting contracts exhanged and completion they have been on the ball, Julie Bramble in particular was a key part of the process in the latter stages, answering questions and helping things move along within the conveyancing process, whereas there might have been more issues and even more delays if she did not go the extra mile.

Wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future.

Spoke with the lewes road team today, Cieran, Ava Ruby & Jasmine all in turn about different issues & ALL!!!! Of them in turn today Got stuff done/sent to landlady etc Jasmine straight on repairs! Cieran needed an answer there & then 5min job not i call u back later. Ava home visit, punctual & helpful & Ruby on the case straight away again with something else here i need doing. Saliha on the pre purchase side and Julie after the offer was accepted were fantastic. Their service always felt very personal and caring. The company was very responsive and kept contacting me at the beginning to place an offer and get a sale locked in. However, once that was done there was no contact for many weeks. After a whole month of radio silence, I had to chase them for an update.

The whole process became very stressful and unpleasant because as a buyer I had to constantly chase for updates while working. I felt like this was disappointing because I was expecting professional service. As first time buyers we need to be given clear guidance and support for a milestone in our lives, not just being left without any communication for weeks and months on end.

Moreover, I was only told many weeks into the sale process- that the property belonged to a deceased person, which meant that probate was necessary. The potential buyers were given an impression that the executor was the sole owner, which was not true. Important information like this should be made very clear from the beginning.

Overall as buyer, especially a first time one, remember that the estate agent is working for the seller and commissions. Therefore, always have a team working for your interests as well (e.g your own solicitor and mortgage broker) so that you get the best deal.
