I cannot recommend Metro Finance highly…

I cannot recommend Metro Finance highly enough. From start to finish, the experience was seamless. Joel was instrumental during the initial stages, providing expert mortgage advice and patiently answering all my questions. Once the process moved forward, Lois was incredibly thorough in gathering documentation and following up on every detail. The speed and efficiency of their communication while waiting for my application approval was impressive. The entire team was fantastic and helped me secure the exact mortgage I wanted. Great work all around!"

I would highly recommend Daniel…

I would highly recommend Daniel stobbart my mortgage advisor and Kia tucker as they were fantastic as this is my first time getting a mortgage they were so friendly, kind, helpful and easy to talk to when they were explaining and going through everything with me. They also were very helpful and easy if I had any questions or concerns about anything and they were very fast and efficient and kept me informed about everything being carried out on their end I was very happy using metro finance for my mortgage and I would definitely use them again. Thank you for your help throughout this process.

I am disappointed with the service I…

I am disappointed with the service I received from Metro Finance regarding my rent-to-buy application. The overall communication throughout the process was shocking.

After submitting all required documents and being told my application was in the final stages, I heard absolutely nothing for days. There was no proactive update whatsoever. I was left completely in the dark and had to personally chase multiple times just to find out that my application had been declined. This is unacceptable, applicants should not have to chase for such critical updates.

What made the situation even more frustrating is that no feedback or explanation was provided for the decision. Being declined is one thing, but not being given any reasoning or guidance is poor practice and shows a complete lack of transparency and professionalism.

My mortgage advisor, Molly Cooke, was extremely difficult to communicate with. Emails were often ignored, and responses only came after repeated follow-ups or phone calls. This made the entire process stressful and unnecessarily time-consuming.

Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend using Metro Finance based on the lack of communication, poor customer service, and absence of feedback throughout the process.

As part of the Rent to Buy process, we are required to carry out a detailed assessment on behalf the Housing Association. This includes reviewing all information provided to ensure applications meet the relevant criteria and compliance requirements. In some cases, we are unable to proceed, and due to the nature of these assessments, we are not always able to share specific reasons behind a decision, particularly where this relates to our regulatory obligations.

Still unable to reserve the house I…

Still unable to reserve the house I want to because metro finance will NOT sign me off!! After phoning over 20 times over the last 4/5 days I am still no further forward. I had my AIP sent to them last Thursday and I’m still not signed off because ever since I spoke to them on the Thursday and told them I’m using a different broker they have changed their tone and now all communication has come to a halt. The reason I decided not to proceed with metro finance is because they told me I could Not get a mortgage so I told them I had in fact had a AIP with another broker which they decided to grill me on and not believe me! Then the following day they apologised because they had put the numbers in to the calculator wrong and then decided I could in fact get an AIP!!! But now they know I have another financial advisor they are dragging their feet!! I have phoned them 3 times today to be passed to different people each time and saying they have messaged the “team” to escalate it to get a sign off and I’m sat here 4 hours later still no further forward! It does not take 3 days to sign somebody off. Absolute joke of a company I will be putting a formal complaint in and also letting the housing association know what a shambles it’s been.

Mortgage Application

Throughout the process, metro have been consistent in being transparent with the information needed and what stage of the process we are at.

With minor delays, the application has been efficient and took 2-3 weeks to the initial enquiry to now looking at submitting the mortgage application.

I believe there service has been a positive one and will be using them in the future for further mortgage applications.

Absolutely brilliant

Absolutely brilliant, can’t speak highly enough of metro finance. From my initial contact with Richard who got the initial stages set up, to then dealing with Hasina and Arun in getting my first mortgage application through.absolutely amazing service from start to finish, fantastic communication and very attentive care for your needs/requirements. If you are looking for a well priced mortgage advisor these are the people to go to. Hasina has gone above and beyond with her support and advice and has provided clarity of anything’s I were uncertain off. Really friendly and the communication from the team has been quickly throughout. Would recommend and certainly use again! Thank you to Richard, Hasina and Arun.

We have had such a rollercoaster of a ride with lenders back and forth, however Holly Barwell and Natalie Johnson definitely made our experience a lot better, constant updates and keeping us in the loop.

Poor communication and different treatment after choosing my own broker

I was referred to Metro Finance by the housing association connected to the shared ownership property I’m purchasing. I understood that I needed to go through Metro Finance for an affordability assessment and sign-off, which I was happy to do.

From the start, I made it clear to the housing association that I intended to use my own mortgage broker rather than the one provided by Metro Finance. I was told that this was still allowed, but that I would need to obtain a Decision in Principle from Metro Finance and then provide details of the mortgage arranged through my own broker for their final sign-off.

The process itself was slow and communication was quite poor. It often took a long time to get responses or updates.

The main issue occurred after I informed the Metro Finance advisor that I intended to proceed with my own broker once the Decision in Principle had been issued. Up until that point the communication had been normal, but as soon as I said I wouldn’t be using their mortgage service, the tone of the conversation changed noticeably.

I was told that their fee would be reduced from £499 to £250 if I stayed with them, which I declined as I had already decided to use my own broker. After that, the conversation became abrupt and I was told the process would now take longer and that the case would need to be sent to a completely different team.

This was frustrating because the requirement to obtain sign-off from Metro Finance had been explained from the beginning, and I had simply followed the process that the housing association told me to follow.

I eventually called again and spoke to someone else who handled the situation quickly, which suggests the delay wasn’t necessary.

In the end the sign-off was completed, but the experience left me feeling that the level of service changed once it was clear I wouldn’t be paying for their mortgage service.

Given that buyers are required to go through Metro Finance as part of the process, the communication and professionalism should be consistent regardless of whether the customer chooses to use their mortgage broker or their own.
