Absolutely fabulous and attentive work on our chain house purchase with Tasleem and Date. Tasleem is particular was so attentive and very swift with all the checks. We used PW as they came up on an online quote site with a competitive price for selling my father's house and they were a dedicated firm rather than a broker who would pass on the business to someone else. We had a fixed timeline of wanting to complete in 11 weeks as the buyers had already exchanged and Tasleem worked efficiently to meet this. Thank you.

Absolutely 5* service from Tasleem.

They pushed us to complete. Chased us when usually clients do the chasing. Tasleem was not fazed by the complex sale which involved an organisation rather than a private buyer.

They pulled off an exchange and completion for a sale and connected puechase inside the same day, when on annual leave (left instructions for colleagues).

But things went downhill after that in terms of sorting the balance, a total mess and lost all trust in their capabilities. Also they didn't pay the stamp duty even though they said it was settled. Avoid this firm!

I want to give a shout out to Powells Walton and in particular Dante Dawes who dealt with my case. They were second cheapest in a search I did on a comparison website for conveyancing solicitors but honoured their price match comparison (I preferred their reviews). A member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority too. The one not so good comment I'd read was about the delay in answering the phone - so I phoned them, was answered straightaway and the procedure explained to me. Everything they said was true, about tracking the case online, and indeed, being a long way from the property in question and myself made no difference. The only thing I needed to send by post was an authority form demanded by the mortgage company. I could get through to Dante easily by phone or message, and the one time it wasn't instantaneous, he got back to me as soon as he could. He was also willing to back me to the hilt against a totally disingenuous indemnity insurance policy that the other party insist I pay for - I went along with it only because I couldn't afford to lose the sale. Finally, was the invoice as I expected? Yes, 100%, with the fees exactly as stated. So a big thank you to Dante and Team 3.

Avoid Powells Walton & Co for conveyancing.

The service I received during the sale of my property was unacceptable from start to finish. Communication was consistently poor, deadlines were missed, and I had to repeatedly chase for the most basic updates. Emails and calls from myself, my estate agent, and my onward purchase solicitor were regularly ignored for weeks at a time.

My file sat without progress for several weeks under one fee earner, who appeared unfamiliar with the status of the matter and failed to return calls. Legitimate concerns about exchange and completion dates were dismissed — and later proved entirely justified.

When the file was reassigned, I was assured it would be prioritised. It wasn’t. A management pack that the firm already had in its possession was not sent to the buyer’s solicitor for weeks. I personally forwarded it three times. It was only sent while I was on the phone, which speaks volumes about the level of organisation involved.

The financial statement was also significantly delayed despite repeated chasing from my onward solicitor, who commented that they had never experienced such difficulty obtaining one. The lack of coordination and responsiveness placed my onward purchase and the entire property chain at serious risk.

During one call regarding outstanding work, I was told the solicitor was assisting the firm “as a favour” and did not have time to deal with the matter immediately. When I pointed out that this was a paid service and I expected a professional standard, the call was abruptly ended — effectively hanging up on me. I found this completely unprofessional.

Although the transaction eventually completed, it did so despite the firm’s conduct, not because of it. The experience was chaotic, stressful, and far below the standard expected of a regulated law firm. I was not the only party frustrated — estate agents and other solicitors involved also struggled to obtain responses.

I would not recommend this firm to anyone.

I received first class service from instruction to completion. Even with the buyer's solicitors dragging their feet Tasleem Akhtar went the extra mile to help get things over the line. The first solicitor ever to have replied to my emails on a Sunday. I have been involved in many property transactions using many different solicitors and this was the best service I have ever received. Very highly recommended.
