My boiler was provided and installed by SOLV 9 years ago and has been serviced by them annually. On this occasion I had noticed no problems but an issue arose during service which necessitated immediate shutdown and significant repair and replacement of a fan. Problem was resolved eventually when a new fan was sourced after several days.
In the meantime it was pointed out to me that the external fitting of the flue was incorrect leading to severe corrosion of exposed metal. This had to be replaced.
This flue has been in this state for a long time and I am disappointed that it was not noticed by SOLV engineers at earlier visits, including servicing before the boiler was replaced 9 years ago. It could have failed at any time. ☹️

Firstly, we’re glad we were able to diagnose and repair your boiler.

Regarding the flue, when your boiler was installed nine years ago, the flue was fitted correctly as per manufacturer instructions. However, due to your property’s coastal location, the salt in the sea air caused accelerated corrosion on a small exposed metal section. The flue was inspected during every annual service and remained in good condition until this year, when our engineer identified the issue and replaced it before it became unsafe.

To help prevent this from happening again, the new flue has been fitted with no exposed metal externally, offering better protection against the effects of the sea air. While we apologise for our original installer not anticipating this environmental impact during the original installation, we can reassure you that it was installed to the correct standards at the time.

We really appreciate your loyalty over the past nine years. If you’d like to discuss this further, we’d be happy to speak with you directly.

PROBLEM SOLVED

Solved arrived when they said they wood and got my boiler up and running again with minimal fuss. Friendly engineer and tidy worker. Would not hesitate to use them in the future if needed.

Have been a customer for 10 years now.Stephen Kane has set the standards for his company.First met Stephen in 2015 when he undertook remedial work for me at my home. He surpassed my expectations,nothing was impossible,he went the extra mile.He took care of everything when I was on holiday.Coming home to a freshly painted kitchen and living room.New boiler, encased in an attractive cupboard, matching with the flooring, everything carried out to the highest standard.It's almost 10 years since this took
place .Stephen is a true professional and he expects high standards and this is reflected in his team of engineers. I've always found them to be punctual,polite, professional and efficient.Thanks to Stephen and his team for great service over the past ten years and hopefully many more to come.
