This company absolutely spammed me
This company absolutely spammed me! In one day they called me non stop, literally call after call after call - at one point a total of 11 calls in the space of 2 minutes! Their low ball, frankly ridiculous offer was enough to put me off but the constant calling was even worse. Absolutely ridiculous and they need to stop this. Its total spam and id never sell my car to them now.

Extremely Disappointing
Extremely Disappointing and Untrustworthy Experience
I had a truly dreadful experience with The Car Buying Group. Initially, they gave me a very low offer for my car, which I reluctantly accepted. But two days later, they called me back and tried to reduce the price even further! They claimed that after reviewing the photos of the car, their team had decided the vehicle was worth £500–£1,000 less than the original (already low) offer.
They promote their prices as "guaranteed," but in reality, they are anything but. It's a classic bait-and-switch tactic:
1. They give you a low offer upfront.
2. Once you accept, they come back days later with an even lower price.
3. Then, when the driver arrives to collect the car, they try to reduce the offer again citing "scratches" or supposed issues that were never mentioned before.
It feels like a total scam. There is absolutely no transparency, and they rely on pressure tactics to force sellers into accepting less and less money. I honestly don't have words strong enough to describe how bad this experience was.
Avoid at all costs. If you're selling your car, go somewhere reputable that actually honours their word and respects your time.

The first offer was provided with zero photos of the vehicle. You then sent photos two days later, which we had to forward to our valuations team to confirm details and ensure there was no additional damage beyond what had been discussed.
I’ve reviewed the call — you mentioned the handbrake and tyre pressure lights, and when asked about damage, stated there was none. We also discovered the vehicle had previously been used as a taxi. Based on this information, we made an offer.
After booking collection and agreeing a price on 22/09/2025, you later clarified that the handbrake and tyre pressure lights were on another vehicle, not the one we were valuing. The car we were assessing actually had a “check pre-crash system” warning message, and the photos you provided showed two missing wheel trims while giving limited clarity on the overall condition. With this updated information, the offer had to be adjusted accordingly.
Your final point regarding a price reduction at collection is very confusing as we never actually reached that stage. Due to the continued conflicting information you provided, no driver was ever sent, so it would have been impossible for anyone to reduce your price at collection. We only adjust an agreed price at collection if there are undisclosed issues that the customer had not informed us about.
We would still be happy to assist you with the sale of your vehicle. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to proceed.

Offered a decent price and paid it in full. Can't fault them as a company. Didn't try to haggle or drive the price down, just quoted a price arranged pick up and paid there and then with an instant bank transfer.

Offered less than £500, had a new rear subframe fitted by Mercedes 13 months ago last week, had a new clutch and dual mass flywheel full service plus a full MOT, cost me just over £2ooo, so I don't think £500 is the value. I believe you're offer is an insult

Disappointing
The pre purchase communication was good, and professional. The price for a 14 year old car was in line with other offers I received and I had described the car accurately and sent photographs. On the day of collection a driver arrived, assessed the car with photos and description he put into his app on a tablet. He was then told, when phoning through, that the app was not acceptable and he had to do it with whats app. Then they phoned him twice more with further questions. This all took well over an hour. Both me and the driver were totally fed up by this time. They then phoned me and offered £300 less than previously offered, citing feint scratches and a small dent on a wheel arch as meaning the car needed a lot of work, full polish and touch up ( it was 14 years and going straight to auction according to what I had previously been told) The guy on the phone came across as a typical "Im doing you a favour" kind of salesman and left a bad impression with me.

On the initial call, you advised there was no rust and that you had walked around the car, describing it as looking good other than some fading on the rear bumper trim. However, when we arrived for collection, there were scratches and other issues not disclosed at the time of valuation. Naturally, this impacts the price, as the original offer was based on the description provided.
