Beware of Backyard Butchers
Beware: Backyard Butchers was a very disappointing experience. In my view, the meat quality is poor and seems heavily processed, with added solutions that dilute both flavor and texture. I suspect a significant portion of the weight comes from added water and starch-based fillers (maltodextrin), which further reduces the overall quality.
The pricing was another major concern. The initial quote was over $50 per pound, but with a series of on-the-spot “discounts” offered by the salesperson—including questionable justifications—the price dropped to around $20 per pound. This kind of pricing swing felt misleading rather than like a genuine deal.
The portions themselves are small but packaged in a way that makes them appear larger than they actually are. I was also put off by what felt like aggressive sales tactics, including pressure to buy and what seemed like a bait-and-switch approach.
After contacting customer support, I was told that refunds require returning the product to the same salesperson within 14 days. However, these sales teams appear to be in a given location for only a few days, making that policy feel impractical and difficult to follow.
Additionally, I had difficulty finding clear, detailed ingredient information on their website, which raises concerns about transparency.
Overall, I would not recommend this company based on my experience.

Good quality, minor issues
The steaks taste good and are good quality. However, initially my steaks, typically the ribeye's, were thicker than they have been in the past few orders. Also, most of steak packages leak so we have to put them in a zip lock bags or on top of a towel.
