There is no ability to document anything on the customer’s side. This company is only reachable by phone. Which is answered round the clock so that’s nice. But there’s no way to prove you called, what you asked for, etc. Then they send an email from a no-reply address. So if anything g is incorrect you can’t email them back. You have to call again. I even tried a couple email addresses that I found online and none work. The co tractor who came out did a great job. So there’s that positive. But the HWA system limits the time block the contractors can fill out so that ends up being incorrect too. Also, the call center is answered by people who read off a script. Like I said, the work got done but not a very customer friendly experience.

I filed a claim for my OTC microwave on June 8,2026. Received an email from HWA informing that the microwave could not be repaired. Instead they offered a check and/or Lowes gift card for $194. The replacement and installation was well over $600 if I completed the repair myself. They would not budge on the amount since they insisted it was a fair market value for the repair. I accepted the check on June 9,2026. Here it is June 26,2026 and I am still waiting for the check. I called HWA this morning, they had not processed the check, but assured me it will processed today.
This is the worst warranty company I have dealt with in my life. I don't want to imagine if I had a real serious situation and their response. I would not recommend them to any one. There are better choices out there.

Agent was very helpful. He answered all of our questions. Plus the rate was lower than our previous company.

My over counter microwave required $300 in repairs. I paid my $75 service fee. HWA decided not to make the repairs and give me a $194 Lowe’s Gift card. So essentially gave me $119 as I was out $75 for service call. The cheapest over counter microwave that fits the spot is the exact same model I have now and cost $541 with tax and will cost $180 to be installed with removal of current.

So I was given $194 to replace a microwave that costs $721 to replace. Thanks HWA! 🤬

I have only good things to say about this company.
The people they have working for them are top notch, efficient and knowledgeable.

Terrible experience. I pay $125 a month for the past 5 years. and my refrigerator goes out from normal ware and tare. You refuse to replace it i have to appeal it and I only get $400 . I have to wait 3 weeks to get the check now so I'm stuck without a refrigerator for fathers day and I have family coming over. Its the middle of summer. I am very disappointed and thinking of canceling my service

WE PAID FOR DIAMOND COVERAGE ONE YEAR.
THEN I RENEWED IT JUNE 17TH 2026. WE HAD A LOSS OF OUR HEAT AND AIR DUCTS THAT HAVE BEEN IN THIS HOME SINCE 1983. THEY WERE AT ONE TIME REPAIRED AT THE CONNECTIONS WITH DUCT TAPE. NOW THEY ARE LEAKING CAUSING ISSUES WITH AIR AND HEAR LOSS. OUR HOME WARRANTY REFUSED THE CLAIM STATING THAT PROPER MAINTENANCE WAS NOT CARRIED OUT. WE HAVE BEEN IN THE HOME ONE YEAR. HAD HVAC COMPANY COME OUT TO CHECK IT. THEY CLAIM BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS SO OLD IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR GREAT REPAIR DONE. OUR WARRANTY IS WORTHLESS. gOT A QUOTE TO HAVE THE SYSTEM REPAIRED BY ONE OF THERE OWN TECHS FOR $250 AND THEY DENIED THE CLAIM.

Despite having a premium plan that covered plumbing, HWA denied the claim outright. On top of this they sent a plumber who overcharged and did the work poorly.

It took 11 days to repair an air conditioner in the hot summer June 11 to June 22. They said good repair people, but the timing is horrible.

After paying HWA Home Warranty for years, my refrigerator compressor failed and my claim was denied. Their reason? They said dirt and debris under the refrigerator restricted airflow and caused the failure.

Apparently, homeowners are expected to regularly move a heavy refrigerator and clean underneath it or risk having their claim denied. After years of paying premiums, I was shocked to find that when I finally needed the coverage, they found a technical reason not to honor the claim.

My experience was extremely disappointing. Be sure to read all exclusions carefully before purchasing this warranty. What you think is covered may not be covered when you actually need it.
