La-Z-Boy UK Ltd was established in January 2017 - a wholly owned subsidiary of La-Z-Boy Incorporated, in the USA. La-Z-Boy Inc, which has its international headquarters in Monroe, Michigan, has a strong history for producing comfortable and quality products and is a brand that is known throughout the globe. The furniture company that would later be known as La-Z-Boy was founded in 1927 by American cousins, Edward M Knabusch and Edwin J Shoemaker, who invented the first recliner in 1928. A comfortable concept, the folding wood-slat porch chair followed the contour of a person's body, both sitting and leaning back. Using orange crates to mock-up and refine their idea, the partners invented the reclining mechanism that would sweep the world off its feet. The chairs were an instant hit - but needed a name. Combining promotion with necessity, the partners held a contest and turned down suggestions including Sit-n-Snooze, Slack-Back and Comfort Carrier before choosing La-Z-Boy as the clear winner. Over the subsequent decades, La-Z-Boy's product line has grown to include a myriad of pieces and styles, making it the world's best-selling recliner. La-Z-Boy continues to innovate, building on a unique heritage that has pioneered new developments in the furniture industry.

Buyer beware the splendor modular is the most uncomfortable couch, foam is not good ,no support flat and hard, makes the body ache, customer service says nothing is wrong,my expectation of this high end brand has been crushed and I never again buy one of thier Chinese made products.
Dreamed of owning a Lazi Boy 😣
I have always dreamed of having a Lazi Boy suite so finally could afford to finance one. Got it home and on the 1st evening of using it I never sat on a more uncomfortable chair in all my life. The recliners leave you with sore legs as they don’t extend straight out, leaving your legs hanging putting pressure behind your knees. I am totally disgusted with suite, it looks good but that’s about it.
Total rubbish
Tried this for a month. So uncomfortable and unable to use. Also the gap between the seat and the back when you sit on it lets in draughts. Wife has had chills leading to kidney infections due to this. Swage on back of chair looks like it was sewn on by a drunk, might explain why chair wobbles a lot.Zero aftercare from DFS - 'nothing wrong with chair' means we are stuck with an expensive ornament.
- minus rating £4000 and worst furniture and customer service
Bought 2 lazy boy recliners . One static and 1
Recliner .
On my 2nd settee and 3rd repair
. The one we don’t even recline has foam falling out and springs poking through the leather . Replaced once and again the same . Repairer even cut through the leather and never realised till
I cleaned it . Now can’t claim as the extended warranty (what a joke ) won’t cover it . Worst £4000 I’ve ever spent . Avoid . Also SCS are as bad
Absolutely useless
Absolutely useless. I would NOT buy another thing from La-Z-Boy, the after sale service from this Company are non-existant, the contact number given on the Net and by the Retailer who sell their products and the repair contractor is also non-existant so getting any form of contact or support at all is impossible. I will now be shopping elsewhere for my furniture and not a couldn't care less manufacturer like La-Z-Boy.
The La-Z-Boy reviews speak for themselves and speak volumes.

We brought a suite from SCS
We brought a suite from SCS, (presure sales) 18 mths ago, including a Love Seat, which we did not like, we replaced it with another recliner, when trying to sell the Love Seat, we found it did not have a Fire Lable on, therefore couldn’t be sold, ( having to go to the tip ).
I have written to the CEO of La Z-boy with out a response, beware of this company. If you’re reply was accurate then there would be tell tell signs of where it had been applied during manufacture, but there was none.

LA Z-boy Poor Quality Furniture
Purchased from SCS due to supposed quality of this furniture. How wrong was that decision. £5000 pounds worth of inferior quality furniture. First suite sent back, swivel rocker mechanism faulty. Second sent back, faulty upholstery. Third and present one, after two years. upholstery base and back lost all support in parts, colour (grey leather ) rubbing off to show light patches. Now five years old and replacing. Big waste of money. Had a previous leather suite from DFS for 15 yrs (Not LA Z-boy) now passed on and still in good condition. Obviously LA Z- boy furniture not the quality it supposedly was.
Should have gone to Trust Pilot.... first!
I guess 15 months ago I should have researched this brand by reviews. I took it that La Z Boy was a reputable make. Suddenly I've just discovered the 3 seater stationary sofa left backing has started wobbling and feels loose. The bracket at the bottom is the culprit, I tightened it and still wobbles as if it has slipped on the wood holding it.The bolts are rubbish and are now chewed from me trying to tighten it. Few thousand quid just little over a year later wasted! Doubt a warranty would be now valid after having to split the backing felt to get hand into tighten at it.

Would not recommend lazy-boy sofas
Would not recommend lazy-boy sofas, they look good but are far from durable or comfortable. Purchased a corner sofa with recliners which after less than a year of very light usage, started to collapse. The recliner has always made a loud grinding noise and leans so far back looks like it’s about to topple over. Called customer service who sent someone out to inspect but said that was normal suggesting a few tightenings here and there should resolve the issue. The noise has continued and to make matters worse the back cushions have lost total support and the seat sinks so far down it is so uncomfortable to sit on for any period of time without suffering a sore lower back. The most uncomfortable sofa ever purchased, expensive and a total waste of money. As for the extended guarantee, not worth the paper written on. So disappointed feels like I’ve thrown thousands of pounds down the drain.

Another Company sacrifices their values
La Z Boy Garbage
My Personal Experience with La-Z-Boy: A Lesson in Disappointment
Once upon a time, La-Z-Boy was a household name synonymous with high-quality furniture and unmatched comfort. My family, like many others, trusted the brand implicitly. When it came time to furnish my living room with a recliner, La-Z-Boy was my first and only choice. I expected the same reliability and quality my parents experienced decades ago when they purchased their La-Z-Boy furniture. Instead, what I got was an ongoing nightmare of poor craftsmanship, abysmal customer service, sluggish repair processes, and a company seemingly uninterested in accountability.
A Disastrous Product
The disappointment began almost immediately after purchasing a high-end recliner from La-Z-Boy. At first, the chair seemed fine—comfortable and stylish, as advertised. However, within a few months, it became clear that the quality was far below expectations. The cushions began sagging noticeably, and the reclining mechanism, which was supposed to be the hallmark feature, started making grinding and squeaking noises. The back felt loose and wobbly, as though it might break off at any moment. In fact, it did eventually break…
What shocked me the most was how quickly the recliner began making noises. Despite being marketed as durable, the springs made an awful noise and the recliner as a whole was just terribly noisy after just a few months of light use. Friends and family who visited my home even commented on how “used” the chair seemed, despite it being practically new. It was embarrassing and infuriating, especially given the premium price I had paid.
By the six-month mark, the recliner was no longer comfortable to use. The padding and springs in the seat and backrest had broken down so much that sitting for any length of time left me with a sore back. The structural integrity of the chair was so poor that I genuinely wondered if it would hold up another year. The chair leaned back so far, I would end up looking at the ceiling, La-Z-Boy amazingly assured me this was normal not realizing I purchased the exact same chair 5 years prior. When comparing them side by side, the defect was obvious.
Terrible Customer Service
When I first noticed the issues, I reached out to La-Z-Boy customer service, hoping to resolve the problems quickly. What followed was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. After waiting on hold for over an hour, I was finally connected to a representative who seemed completely uninterested in helping me. Their responses were curt, dismissive, and, frankly, condescending.
I explained the issues with the recliner, including the sagging cushions, noisy mechanism, and unusual orientation. The representative assured me that they would “file a claim” and that someone would get back to me. Weeks passed, and I heard nothing. I called back, only to be told that my case was still “under review.” After repeated follow-ups, they finally agreed to send a technician to assess the chair.
Sluggish and Unreliable Service Technicians
When the technician visit was scheduled, I thought I was finally making progress. Unfortunately, the service technician arrived over an hour late with no communication or apology. Once they inspected the chair, their conclusion was dismissive: “Normal wear and tear,” they said, despite the fact that the chair was only a year old.
They also informed me that parts needed to be ordered for the repair, which would take “a few weeks.” A few weeks turned into months, during which I repeatedly called to check on the status, only to be told that the parts were “on backorder.” When the parts finally arrived, the technician scheduled another visit—only to not show up. I had to reschedule yet again, costing me more time and frustration.
When the technician eventually did complete the repair, it was clear they were undertrained or simply uninterested in doing the job properly. The mechanism was still noisy, and the cushion replacement barely improved the sagging issue.
Warranty: An Empty Promise
Part of the reason I initially felt confident in my purchase was La-Z-Boy’s advertised warranty. However, the warranty process turned out to be a complete sham. Every issue I raised was met with resistance and excuses. “That’s not covered,” they said, or “That’s considered normal wear.” It felt as though they were doing everything possible to avoid honoring their commitments.
Even the few issues they did agree to address took an absurd amount of time to resolve. Replacement parts were delayed for months, and the overall lack of communication left me feeling abandoned as a customer.
Lack of Accountability and Poor Quality Control

They look good when they offer a 10 year guarantee. However it really only lasts for how long they carry spare parts for the chair you bought . Which in my case was well under 10 years. Only advice was to put you in touch with a firm you could pay to repair it!!! No after service at all, If I could give zero stars, I would

Not fit for purpose
Bought a three seat power recliner whose cushion started sinking towards the arm.
Told that although marketed and sold as a 3 seater if 3 people use it the cushion will collapse next to the arm.
This seems like a breach of trades description as I note I am not the only customer to experience this and be given the same excuse.
I wish I had read the reviews before buying.
La z boy claim to be a premium supplier which is obviously not the case. Should also point out the assessor sent stated that he agreed with us that it was poor quality, overpriced and his family furniture makers could make it for £9.99 but still had no manufacturing fault. Not exactly the response you would expect from their own assessor.
La-Z-boy replied saying they were sorry to hear and would contact SCS to review their decision.
That was a month ago and so far no further update from either.
Would appear my original assessment was correct.
Further update, it is now January 2025 and still no resolve.
Both SCS and La-z-boy no longer even acknowledge emails. La-z-boy say it is SCS responsibility but they manufacture and market the sofa then say the 3 seater should only be used by two persons to avoid sagging.
As I said originally NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.

Don't bother
Our leather electric recliner has been repaired 3 times now, basic problem is the foam is too soft and just collapses after 6 months, la z boy now washed their hands of it. Not interested. Now waiting for delivery of a new sofa. And it's not a la z boy, this one is made in uk to our specs.
Not fit for purpose.
We purchased our sofa from scs, took out the extended warranty to help protect against accidental damage from our pets and children. Within months it developed two faults in the seat fabric. Warrenty refused and said it was wear and tear. Now the recliner mechanism is clunky and the seat is collapsing. This is not what I expect from a sofa that cost thousands to buy and is only 2 years old. I’m absolutely disgusted in SCS, LA Z-boy and the warranty company. I would have had a better service from IKEA.
☆Excellent customer service☆
☆Excellent customer service☆
Contacted Katie at La-Z-boy after our leather sofa started peeling (two small areas where my head touches) & she organised a chap from Homeserve to visit & inspect.
Homeserve chap said more than likely the cause was 'body oils' & me being on statins.
After Katie had read the report its was decided we could exchange the sofa & chair for a new upholstered one.
To say we were gobsmacked is an understatement as really didn't expect such an easy resolvement, but wasn't suprised about the great customer service with La-Z-boy being an american company.
when we visited our local supplier to confirm the choice of material he mentioned that lf we'd had used a leather cleaner every 3 months the problem may never had happened. It seems Knowledge is the key as we would have done this had we had known🙂
Our previous La-Z-boy sofas (2 x 2-seaters) lasted well over 12 years & were still in great working order but we were ready for a change.
Hope these last as long & Katie you're a star as is Adam ☆☆☆☆☆

had a 3 seater sofa from SCS with two large seats on it rather than the usual three and chair 3 months ago for close on £4000. one end of the sofa has sunk and pushes you towards the arm rest. have been told its normal for that to happen as it is the way it has been sat on at one end! how can you sell something as a three seater and say one of the seats has sunk because of the way it was sat on?
