"Wrought iron detail". Erm, no. The bars are PVC!!!

As seems standard now I've found these reviews I ordered a product with an estimated delivery time of 10-12 days - 14 days later I received an email suggesting they had been sent but no further information in the 8 days afterwards.
Phone calls go unanswered and I'm left wondering when I might actually recieve the item I ordered.

It's been 18 days since ordering and I still haven't received the gate. I chased MD carpentry 2 days ago and have yet to receive an update from them.

Never again , after 1 month I'm still waiting for my product. Do not use them

After waiting for 7 weeks for the gate I ordered, the wrong one finally arrived. I had contacted Mr Martin Dooley a couple of times to chase my order only to get a flippant response and zero information. When I contacted him again to say the wrong item had arrived, again a flippant response. The gate im now stuck with isn't even good quality, in fact it's very poor. My woodwork at school in the 1970s was far superior. Awful company. Awful people

Good quality product and resent hinges etc when parcel people lost the items.

Amazing service, able to send specific measurements and gate was made to order. Great quality, quick delivery, would 100% recommend and use again. Thank you so much

Swan neck gates.

Bought through B&Q marketplace, priced at about £300
Ordered on 10th of May
Delivered, after a fair bit of pestering on my part, 30th June.
Finish is shoddy with lots of splintered ends where the wood has been cut.
Wood that provides an infill to the frame, is full of knot holes.
Illustration showed a bottom rail, which was missing on the delivered gates.
Getting the gates fitted has now become time sensitive, so sending them back is going to create a whole new set of problems.
Overall it's just been a disappointing and frustrating experience.

Received gate which is just what we were looking for; excellent quality. Would definitely recommend, communication excellent. Delivery excellent, delivered within 2 weeks and was kept updated on the day of delivery what time it would arrive.

Very mixed feelings about this company and I will be very honest.

Ordered garden gate knowing full well, there was a lead time of 10 working days. However the actual time taken to despatch the gate was more than double that time.

That said, communication was good but via email only and Irene would often respond quite quickly. However if you do try to call, the voice box was full and there was no way of leaving a voice message when they are busy

To be fair, I was offered a partial refund for the inconvenience which was increased due to some slight damage to the gate when it eventually arrived.

It arrived one week after being despatched - this was the fault of the distribution company SGK, not MD Carpentry but MD could well do with reviewing this delivery service as well as how much work MD take on which leads to delays in lead times and grumpy customers.

On the whole, it was an alright job based mainly on me keeping my cool

Placed order for a gate, a month later I chased as no delivery, MD appologised offered a 10% discount and stated it would be prioritised. Gate arrived, it claimed craftsman finish, it wasn't. I have complained but no reply, the discount had to be chased apparently they take a month to do this on top of the month delivery. Would I use them again, no, lots of better offers out there.

Replying to MD carpentry saying they update and refund accordingly. No you did not. Nobody can even get through on the phone number as your messaging service is full !
Exactly the same with your email. I have proof if you want to dispute it - both the email rejection and voice recording of your answering service. The refund was actioned because I reported this to my bank not because you were forthcoming with it. Do better

Ai generated images of gates on their website, leads to a disappointment when you eventually get the gates(expect over a month to receive it).
I ordered a set of swan neck gates, but what turned up was a set of flat gates. Missing parts of the order too. Avoid avoid avoid

Placed an order through B&Q with this company at the start of May, and shock horror, still waiting. Empty promise after empty promise, supposedly they were dispatched on Saturday but unable to provide me with any up to date tracking information when requested.
Having read other reviews, not convinced they'll be up to much if by some miracle they do actually materialise.

I wish I had read these reviews prior to placing an order with MD carpentry. We ordered gates over a month ago. The website states 3-5 days delivery which is far from the truth. I was then told 1-3 weeks lead time. I am still waiting. I have received tracking which to be honest never has had update. The delay has cost us money each as I have to keep putting off contractors. Not to mention the stress of worrying if we have literally
Thrown £600 down the drain and may never receive our order.
Do not order from this company.

Ordered a gate on 15th May, they emailed to say it was sent on 5th June - Still not delivered - 16th June. 4.5 weeks from order and still nothing. They don't answer the phone or respond to emails. I have cancelled via my credit card company. AVOID.

I was sent an email to say my gates were being prepared for shipment on the 25th of May. I'm still waiting on the 15th of June. If I'd have seen these reviews I would of gone to someone else. I will put daily updates on here.

I have had a email today 16/06/26.
I have been given a delivery date between the 26th and 29th of this month. I will update after this date.
I've had my gates delivered today and I can't complain. Good communication from the delivery company and on time. Gates are as described and great value for the money. Thanks Martin 😊

What a joke ..waited six weeks for delivery ..many calls and emails and four delivery’s that never happens ..the quality of these gates are really really poor ..nothing like the website ..split wood and unfinished edges ..pencil lines still on the wood ..wouldn’t reccomend anyone get anything from them ..got lots of pics if anyone wants to see them …with regards to your response ..you were contacted directly about the issues ..the only that that was offered was a little discount ….which never happened either ..

If I could give 0 stars I would. Ordered gates from MD Carpentry on 6th May 2026 and was told they would take 14 days to be delivered. It is now 12th June 2026 and still no gates. Whenever I call this company no one answers the phone and it goes to voicemail. Their mailbox is full so I am unable to leave a message. When I email for an update I just get a message saying that they are prioritising my order and it will be with me within the week but gates never arrive. Please avoid this company.
