Two stars – very disappointing delivery times
I ordered a shed from Shire Buildings via sheds direct on 2nd July and booked the earliest delivery date available, 12th August. Despite already having to wait nearly six weeks for the earliest available delivery slot, I still haven’t received my shed.
Since then, the delivery date has been changed twice, and I am now being assured that it will finally arrive on 24th August. We shall see.
Had I known when I placed the order that I could potentially be waiting nearly eight weeks for my shed, I would have bought elsewhere.
I understand that delays can happen, but after waiting so long for the original delivery date in the first place, having it changed twice is extremely disappointing. At the moment, I can only give two stars based on my experience.

The process of ordering the Shed was…Good
The process of ordering the Shed was straightforward. Once this was completed I was contact by Shire GB to detail the requirements for the Shed Base. I provided these and Shire GB have now established a delivery and Installation date of 4th September.
Hopefully everything will go smoothly on that date, so that I can start to use my new shed.

Damp thin and mouldy!
I was sent a mouldy wet shed after waiting over 3 weeks after the delivery date on the website. My son had a fire and i needed emergency space for a sick cat so ended up having to build it in hopes i could fix it! Besides it being paper thin and having to re nail the side panels its just a wreck. I contacted you guys and spent weeks back and forth with photos etc and even complained to b&q where i bought it and i lve had nothing back from anyone! Ive sent photos of the nould which is on everything bar the roof the floor is warped and its just a mess. Im aware i shouldnt have built it but i was desperate i even asked for a part refund but you refused then u said ud replace the parts that was rotten so i told you and sent photos but heard nothing back!

Yes i wanted to take it down and get a full refund but you said because it was built you would take damages off so wouldnt get a full refund! I also sent photos of all the parts of mould and damp and u said because it was built you would send the parts affected if i send pictures which i did! And heard nothing from you? . Also can i ask if i did send parts back would you re sell? Even with mould? I am autistic and struggle with speaking on phones so was doing it by email you stated because it was put up taking it down it would have nails ( that came with it) i.e. damage which you would deduct for so how would i get a refund? I spent alot for a piece of mouldy wood! Even if i hadnt of put it up you could not treat or resell anyway! If you arrange a collection day id be happy to take down as its just stood there empty now as what i needed it for ended up mouldy due to it!

Thank you for your review. We’re sorry that you were unhappy with the shed, however, we do feel it is important to provide some context for anyone reading this. We have not left you without a response or resolution options. When the condition of the shed was first reported, we offered replacement parts for the affected sections or a full return and refund, provided the building remained unassembled and untreated. You subsequently confirmed that you had assembled the shed, meaning the return option we had originally offered could no longer be processed in the same way. You then requested a 50% partial refund, which we explained is not an option we offer, while continuing to offer replacement parts for the affected components. When you provided a list of parts, we asked for photographs of the specific components so that we could assess the reported issues and arrange replacements where appropriate. Rather than proceed with that option, you later advised that you intended to dismantle the shed and return it. Importantly, the shed has not been collected or returned and no refund has been processed. In fact, our most recent correspondence was only in July, when further photographs were provided showing the shed assembled, alongside a continued request for a 50% partial refund. We have therefore not refused to provide a resolution; we have continued to offer options based on the condition and circumstances of the building. We understand that you are disappointed with the product and we are sorry that it did not meet your expectations, but we believe it is important that the review reflects the full history of the correspondence and the options that have actually been offered. We remain willing to deal with the matter through the appropriate resolution process.
2nd review for Emneth cabin
I already left a review but without the Emneth cabin built. Absolutely over the moon with it! Some pieces of wood a little warped that can be altered but nothing at all major. Overall I would definitely recommend. Worth every penny!

Absolutely shocking experience with…
Absolutely shocking experience with Shire Garden Buildings. We ordered a playhouse costing over £1,000, only to find that essential parts were missing, including the felt, wood surrounding the house, windows, flower boxes and other items.
Because of the missing parts, we had to delay the installation and arrange more than three additional deliveries. I have also had to call the company over 10 times trying to get the missing items sorted.
For a product costing over £1,000, this level of service is completely unacceptable. The amount of time, effort and inconvenience this has caused us is unbelievable. There seems to be a complete lack of care, communication and quality control. Even lied about when the order was coming promised Saturday and nothing had even been put thru!
We expected a complete product and decent customer service, but instead we have been left chasing the company repeatedly just to receive everything we paid for.
In my opinion, this company needs to be shut down. Customers should not have to go through this after spending over £1,000 on a product. I would strongly advise anyone considering ordering from this company to think twice.

We accept that there were issues with missing parts from the original delivery, and we appreciate the frustration this caused. Our records show that replacement parts were raised and dispatched directly by Shire once the missing items were reported. Unfortunately, one of the DHL consignments was subsequently lost in transit, which caused further delay. Additional parts were also identified as being required and were raised separately.
We also note your comments regarding being advised that the parts would be sent on a Saturday. Our standard remedial parts service does not operate on Saturdays, but as you state that this was specifically advised during a telephone call, we are reviewing the relevant communication rather than making assumptions about what was discussed.
We appreciate that you have had to contact us several times and that the delays have been frustrating, particularly where you had arranged work around the expected deliveries. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and are continuing to work through the outstanding parts with you.

Easy to order and arrange delivery
What I really appreciated was being able to contact by phone. I'm not a tech person.
Lost all my order details and wanted to change time of delivery or arrange where to leave Play House safely. The lady I spoke to was so helpful found my order details and I was able to contact delivery and all was well.
I would highly recommend both Wickes where I purchased and Shire who supplied and delivered. I now have very Hapoy Grandchildren.

Hi unfortunately not a lot went right for me.
I was specifically asked to select a date which was a waste of time as did not arrive. Particularly annoying when I took a day off work.
No comms on time slot for delivery and when it did arrive (I had to keep chasing) 9 days later the shed was damaged. I decided to make do and use splintered wood to the best I could. Communication was good when I chased but poor otherwise. The driver was a lovely chap though.

Three stars is generous
Three stars is generous. The timber for the Arbour arrives wet. When it dries it shrinks leaving gaps in the roof for rain. The roof panels don't fit well again needing beading to fill gaps.The kit requires a lot of assemblyand parts were missing taking lots of calls to get them sent on. The Arbour looks lovely but I wouldn't buy again.

Timber is a natural material and will naturally absorb and release moisture, which can cause it to expand and contract as it dries and with changes in weather conditions. However, we appreciate your concerns regarding the gaps that have appeared and the fit of the roof panels.
We’re also sorry to hear that some parts were missing and that you had to make several calls before these were sent out. We understand how frustrating this must have been, particularly after purchasing the Arbour expecting a straightforward installation.
We’re pleased to hear that you like the finished appearance, but we’re sorry that the overall experience has left you feeling that you would not purchase from us again. Very poor quality
Very poor quality.
The shed arrived quickly but two of the main panels were badly warped and there was damage on two other parts of the shed. There were no instructions and no hinges for the doors. I emailed Shire with photos straight away and then phoned them the following day as I didn't get a reply. I requested for the shed to be collected which only happened a week later. I'm still waiting for my refund from the company I purchased this shed from.
I would not buy a Shire product again.

We can see that you contacted us following delivery on 6th August and, after speaking with our customer service team the following day, you advised that you would prefer to return the building for a full refund rather than receive replacement parts. The collection was then arranged and has now taken place.
As your order was placed through a retailer, the refund itself will need to be processed by the company you purchased the building from. Now that the goods have been collected, they will be able to arrange this for you.

Shed wasn’t delivered on the time given…
Shed wasn’t delivered on the time given due to driver running out of hours (did circa 500+ mile day as tracked and almost passed my house twice). I had to make contact with shire to find out when delivery would be the following day, not them calling me and letting me know it would be on delivery ASAP due to the issues above or any apologies for inconvenience like booking the day off work to take delivery. Next available delivery 8 days later. No liability. Wouldn’t buy from again and do not recommend (unfortunately they were a 3rd party from a company online I bought it from and they ship the item).

We completely understand how frustrating it must have been to take a day off work for a delivery that ultimately couldn’t be completed, particularly without the communication you were expecting from the courier. We’re also sorry that you had to contact us yourself to find out what was happening and that the rescheduled delivery was not as soon as you would have hoped.
While the driver’s hours and the circumstances that caused the delay were outside of our direct control, we fully appreciate that this doesn’t lessen the inconvenience caused to you. We should have communicated more proactively and we’re sorry that this wasn’t the case.

Log Cabin 7 x7
I purchased a log cabin on the 1st May with a proposed lead time of 6 weeks. I was then contacted with a revised delivery date of early July, this was then pushed out to the end of July. I finally received my log cabin on the 5th August. I suppose it was too much to expect that all the parts would be shipped and YES there were parts missing. I have to say that I rang Shire and the missing parts were promptly dispatched. The assembly drawings are very vague and not easy to distinguish parts on the drawings. I am an engineer and used to working with drawings, so this was a challenge. Having started to assemble the logs it soon became apparent that the logs were twisted and bowed which makes assembly very challenging. Some of the logs had damaged tongues and in some cases missing. Fortunately I overcame the problem of twisted and bowed logs by using clamps and some thick pieces of wood. Once assembled you could actually see the bowing on the log planks. This wood has obviously not been seasoned to a point where enough of the moisture has been removed.
Good luck to anyone who decides to buy from this company, you will need it.
