DO NOT BUY a car from N T Traders in Romford
We bought a car from N T Traders which was supposedly serviced and valeted, in January, it was delivered late on a dark rainy evening. The next day, we saw that the car was filthy inside and out, the previous owners rubbish all over the vehicle and dog toys were still left in the boot.
A service due warning, a tyre pressure warning, a battery warning and an engine fault warning displayed on the dash screen. The car drove badly, and we had no confidence that the necessary work would be done correctly by them, so we decided to complain and ask for a refund, we did this verbally and in writing.
We have been promised that the car would be collected on four separate occasions over the last 26 days, but it seems that even if the car is returned, we will struggle to get our money back. They are difficult to deal with as they just say they will do the right thing but do not act on it. They have no email address, so you can only communicate by mobile using WhatsApp, it is therefore difficult to keep usable chains of communication.
Have just read the reply to this review which is a complete fabrication, we still have the car and a refund has definitely not been received!

Firstly, the matter did not remain unresolved. The vehicle was returned and the refund has already been processed. The suggestion that money would not be returned is simply incorrect. We do not retain customers’ funds unfairly, and we operate in line with consumer law.
The vehicle was delivered during winter conditions, and while we aim to present all vehicles in clean and prepared condition, weather and transport can occasionally affect presentation on delivery. That said, concerns were raised and were taken seriously. When customers choose to reject a vehicle, the correct process must be followed, including arranging logistics and administrative confirmation before funds are released. These steps can take time, but they are procedural, not intentional delays.

We strongly reject the claims made in this review and believe it is important to explain how our purchasing process actually operates.
When we place a bid, it is based entirely on the information provided at the auction stage. If, during inspection, the vehicle condition differs from what was described, we are required to reassess the valuation to reflect the real cost of preparing the car for retail. This is standard practice across the motor trade and is not an attempt to “coerce” anyone.
Sellers are never forced to proceed. The decision always remains with the vehicle owner. If a revised valuation is not acceptable, the seller is completely free to decline the offer and move on without obligation.

Friendly, Honest and Helpful Dealership
I went through a broker to get a car on finance. When I arrived, the car I originally chose wasn’t really to my taste. Because of that, I had to go through the process of unwinding the finance so I could change the car, which affected everything and caused some delays.
However, to my greatest surprise, this car dealership was extremely kind and understanding. They worked patiently with me and my partner and helped us secure finance for the Toyota RAV4 we actually wanted.
I would like to personally commend the manager of the dealership – he is very friendly, approachable, and kind. All the staff worked hard to make sure we were happy in the end. I would definitely recommend this dealership and would happily use them again in the future.
My only advice to others is to make sure you view and test-drive the car you want before arranging finance, as this would have saved us a lot of hassle.
Overall, this is a very good dealership to buy from. They are also AA-approved and provide a free basic AA breakdown cover.

Before I start I would like to say I have proof of everything throughout this whole experience just incase they want to call me a liar like they have on many other peoples reviews.
NT Car Traders in Romford are, without exaggeration, one of the most incompetent and dishonest dealerships I have ever dealt with. If you value your money, your time, or your sanity, do not go anywhere near them.
I bought a van through finance and within the first day the engine cut out repeatedly and the engine warning light came on. I reported this immediately. Any legitimate dealership would have dealt with it properly. NT Car Traders instead chose to ignore me and ignore the finance company for over a week.
When they finally collected the van, I was repeatedly lied to and told the issue was an “easy fix”. Then they went radio silent for nine days. No updates. No calls. No replies. Total disregard.
The van was returned to me still faulty, now with additional issues including exhaust fumes coming through the air conditioning, warning lights, and other problems. At that point I quite rightly exercised my legal right to unwind the contract — and that’s when NT Car Traders’ true colours showed.
They dragged the process out for over five weeks, accused me of lying, and forced me to pay for two separate inspections. One of their so-called inspections consisted of driving the van one mile and declaring “nothing wrong”. That level of incompetence is either staggering or deliberate.
After finally collecting the van (seven weeks after purchase), they then delayed refunding the finance company and held onto my £2,000 deposit despite having my bank details. I was ignored day after day, repeatedly brushed off with excuses about the “accounts team”, and only got my money back after sending a formal legal email threatening court action.
Funny how the money appeared immediately once legal action was mentioned.
NT Car Traders are unprofessional, evasive, and operate in a way that feels deliberately obstructive. Their behaviour throughout this ordeal was that of crooks and thieves, relying on customers giving up rather than doing the right thing.
This was not a mistake or bad luck — it was a pattern of delay, avoidance, and dishonesty from start to finish.
Avoid NT Car Traders in Romford at all costs.
There are plenty of honest dealerships out there.
This is not one of them.

We would like to clarify a few important points for accuracy and transparency.
At the time of purchase, the vehicle was sold as a used vehicle, and we also provided 3 months warranty for peace of mind. When the customer first reported an issue, we immediately arranged collection and carried out repairs, keeping the customer informed.
Later, despite the vehicle being repaired, the customer requested to unwind the deal. Although this was not required after repairs were completed, we agreed to the unwind purely as a goodwill gesture to maintain customer relations.
As per standard finance procedure, the refund process was completed in the following order:
Finance company refunded first
Customer deposit refunded after finance clearance
This is a normal process and outside our control once finance providers are involved.
All payments were completed by us in full. Only after receiving both refunds did the customer choose to leave this review.
We always aim to resolve matters professionally and fairly, and we regret that this experience did not meet expectations. Nevertheless, we wish the customer all the best going forward.

Bait-and-pressure tactics – would not trust this trader
I had a very disappointing experience dealing with Collectors NT Traders Ltd t/a The Car Traders, who were referred to me via Motorway.
I fully disclosed the condition of my car upfront, including uploading clear photos showing all cosmetic issues. On that basis, an offer of £9,200 was made. After inspection, the price was suddenly reduced by £750, with claims of “undisclosed damage”. This was simply not true — the issues relied upon were already disclosed and visible in the photos.
What concerned me most was the conduct afterwards. When I challenged the reduction, the individual I spoke to on the phone was rude and dismissive, even questioning whether my written complaint had been generated using ChatGPT instead of addressing the substance of the issue. More seriously, there were attempts to pressure my elderly parents into accepting a much lower price, which I found completely unacceptable.
This felt like a bait-and-switch operation: a high headline price to secure the deal, followed by aggressive renegotiation once the seller is on the back foot.
I would not trust this trader. If they bid on your car, be prepared for pressure tactics and significant price drops, even if you have been completely honest about the vehicle’s condition.

We would like to clarify that the original offer was made based on the information and images provided online, where the vehicle was listed as having no scratches. However, upon visiting to collect the vehicle, we found multiple scratches that were not disclosed, which materially affected the vehicle’s condition and value.
As per standard Motorway purchasing procedure, any undisclosed damage identified at inspection is discussed with the seller and reflected in a revised valuation. A price adjustment was therefore proposed. The customer was not willing to accept the revised amount, and no transaction proceeded.
We categorically deny any pressure tactics or inappropriate behaviour toward the customer or their family. Our team aims to treat every customer with professionalism and respect.
Vehicle purchases are always subject to physical inspection, and revised offers are only made when the condition differs from what was declared.
We regret that this experience did not meet expectations, but we stand by our assessment and process. We wish you all the best going forward.

Buying a car from NT Traders - hassle and trouble free
Went to buy a new (to me) car from these guys on a rainy Sunday. They were really patient whilst I wandered around looking at various Kia Niros and comparing to some other cars.
Got a 68 plate with relatively low milage for under my planned budget and drove it away as they also gave me a fair price for my considerably scratched 08 Prius with a knackered Hybrid battery (yes, I did tell them!).
Would have dropped a star as their yard is quite muddy in the wet, but they did give the car a good clean just before I took it!

I stand by my original review dated January 2, 2026 and I do not accept the response from NT Traders LTD T/A The Car Traders, as it is factually incorrect.
The vehicle in question was a White Mercedes C-Class Premium Plus 2017, sold via Motorway, with the transaction completed at £10,800, not £11,500. Your claim that the highest bid for this vehicle was £5,100 is frankly laughable and clearly incorrect. This figure appears to be confused with another vehicle entirely, which raises serious concerns about your record-keeping and honesty.
For clarity:
• The car was placed into auction
• Your company bid on the same day
• Your bid was accepted, despite the vehicle being reserved at £12,100
• On the same day of collection, you listed the car on your own website for £13,000+
• The vehicle has since been sold, which makes your claims even more questionable
I am not interested in hearing excuses about “fees” after the fact. Any professional trader should account for all costs before bidding. Attempting to retrospectively shift responsibility onto the seller is unacceptable and could easily leave sellers out of pocket if they are pressured into agreeing.
The fact that your public response contains such blatant inaccuracies suggests this is not a one-off mistake but a pattern of behaviour. Misrepresenting figures to cover tracks only reinforces my experience of this company as unreliable and dishonest.
I would never deal with NT Traders LTD again and would strongly warn others to be cautious if they do not want to risk losing money.

All bids placed through Motorway are recorded and visible within the platform system. The figures referenced in our previous response were taken directly from auction data available to us at the time. There is no benefit to us in “confusing” vehicles or misquoting numbers, and we take record-keeping seriously.
When purchasing through Motorway, bids are placed based on the information provided in the listing. As is standard industry practice, vehicles are often listed in advance within internal stock systems and sometimes on websites as incoming stock. This does not indicate wrongdoing or misrepresentation. Pricing reflects preparation costs, overheads, warranty provision, VAT obligations, and market positioning. It is entirely normal for retail pricing to differ from auction purchase prices.
It is also important to clarify that sellers are never forced to proceed. Any adjustments discussed during collection are based on inspection findings and remain optional. The seller always retains the right to decline.
We strongly refute the suggestion of dishonesty or any “pattern of behaviour.” We have been trading for over 11 years and have sold more than 18,000 vehicles, operating within established consumer and trade regulations. Allegations implying misconduct are serious and should not be made lightly.

Bought a Car, Got a Weekly Subscription to Excuses and stress
My girlfriend’s brother bought a car from this dealership and, honestly, what followed deserves its own Netflix series.
The car broke down within a week. Speedrun any% complete. Instead of an apology, we were accused of deliberately causing the fault because he “couldn’t afford the insurance”. Bold accusation. Zero evidence. 10/10 confidence.
The car came with a “new MOT”, which sounded great until we realised the rear lights worked on a rota system and the reverse lights didn’t work at all. I’m not an MOT tester, but I am fairly sure “sometimes works” isn’t a pass.
When a refund was requested, they refused to collect the car unless we agreed to a repair — even though the AA had already recovered it and advised it shouldn’t be driven. Apparently consumer rights only apply if the car is mobile and cooperative.
Communication then entered its witness protection phase. Emails ignored. Calls unanswered. We were repeatedly told they had “14 working days” to refund the money. Fun fact: the law says 14 days, not whenever you feel like it. After well over that, the refund eventually arrived.
Since then, my father-in-law has been contacted every week asking him to remove the review. Every. Single. Week. The dedication is impressive. If that same effort had gone into checking the car or responding to emails, this review probably wouldn’t exist.
I can only assume the desperation is because this review joins a very crowded collection of negative ones.
If you’re looking for a car, I’d suggest going literally anywhere else. If you’re looking for excuses, stress, and a crash course in consumer law — this place has you covered.

We would like to clarify that when the issue was reported, we followed our standard procedure and offered inspection and repair under warranty. However, the customer later chose to unwind the sale, which we accepted as a goodwill gesture.
The vehicle was collected, and the unwind process was completed in full. As per standard procedure, refunds were processed within the required timeframe once the vehicle and finance settlement were finalised.

Early days but so far so good- older, used car in good condition. Drives well and looks nice. Decent price and prompt delivery of car. Friendly and polite staff.
