I wouldn't use the company again

I have not had a good experience using this company, with numerous issues having arisen, and I would urge others, in the strongest possible terms, not to use them. I shall outline my reasoning below:

To begin, I should warn others that prior to booking with Equivalency Testing the company sends out both a syllabus and mock exam paper, covering what information will be on the test paper. I sat the Foundation exam, having read through the syllabus and looked at the mock paper. I felt super confident that I understood all but the algebra on the syllabus, and upon attempting the mock paper, found that I could answer most questions. After all, writing down pounds and pence in figures, writing figures as words, drawing information from a timetable, describing correlation, placing numbers in order of size and giving the cost of a box of Frosties when it's written there in front of you are super easy, and are listed as being a part of the syllabus, making up as they do the bulk of the mock paper. As such, you are given the impression that you can easily pass this test. You are lulled into a false sense of security. BEWARE... the questions on the actual examination paper are far, far harder than those that appear in the mock paper. I looked at the syllabus and mock paper, felt confident that I could pass based on the evidence before me, and stumped up the cash. I scored 52%, thereby failing to secure a C and lost my offer of a place at uni. And, I'll never get my money back, so beware...

I should also mention that when I registered for the examination I made a notation on the application page that I have dyspraxia and would thus need this to be taken into consideration when sitting the exam, so that I could be allocated more time. On the day before the exam I contacted the company to enquire what measures had been put in place to accommodate my disability, and I was informed that there was no record of this. This despite the fact that the company had every other detail that I supplied them on file? I found that very strange. I was informed that I could not now sit the exam and that I would need to reschedule. This is very poor administrative and record keeping.

Whilst discussing the issue raised above with the testing company I spoke to an extremely rude woman on the telephone (as other reviewers have referenced.
Interestingly, since I originally posted my review, others have again raised this issue). This person has no people or communication skills. I figure that she thought that she was talking to a 16/17 y/o school kid, not a 45 y/o Masters degree graduate with more than 20 years professional experience. Bottom line, no matter who you're talking to, they deserve to be spoken to with respect. From reading previous reviews and from having had first-hand experience of dealing with this lady, I can tell you that you won't get any. I'm not surprised that she made others cry.

Next, I need to mention the fact that I wrote numerous emails to the owner of this copy, the person to whom you make your payments, regarding the cancellation of the exam, providing proof of my disability, sending off my written exam papers and important other issues, and I never once received a reply regarding these matters. Never Once. That should tell you something!

Had an awful experience with this company. I paid £300 for the ‘maths course’ which just turned out to be a revision pack & homework pack which I could have printed out off the internet myself. After raising concerns with the company it ended in a heated discussion and never resolved. I ended up paying for a private tutor in the end. I sat 3 exams with this company which I failed all three apparently with no improvements, even my tutor couldn’t understand why! On the last exam I wrote down all the questions & my answers on a piece of paper so I could gather where I had gone wrong. When I got home I googled the questions and discovered all the questions were taken from a November 2018 GCSE paper, I was told I had only achieved 43% but when I used the mark scheme to mark it myself I’m pretty sure I scored higher. I raised these concerns through email with the company and had no reply, I emailed three times. I still haven’t received my feedback from the company from my exam nearly 2 months on! I then decided to go elsewhere and sat a maths exam with Birmingham city university and the experience was amazing! And guess what? I passed with them first time and gained 71%! With Birmingham city equivalency maths test you need to achieve 50% to pass but with equivalency testing.com you need to achieve 70%. I regret wasting nearly £1000 with the company and the fact they have the audacity to ignore my emails when I have paid so much money to them! If you’re thinking of doing your equivalency exams please research first!

I sat two exams with Equivalency Testing and received my results within two days. I had a very good experience with this company and would recommend to anyone.

Delighted with the service I received from everyone at Equivalency Testing. I was very nervous about my exam and had many questions (apologies), but I was always greeted with patience and the answers I needed resulting in passing my maths exam. I would highly recommend to anyone considering equivalency testing as an option. You will not regret it!

Reading the bad reviews only after what I have experienced I can more or less relate to them. I sat twice with them. The first time I failed I am not blaming them for that cause I believe I was not ready , however it took ages (3 weeks) before I receive my feedback which I was told that I would get by post 🤔. I waited patiently few days after, nothing in the post, we are in the same country it should not take more than 3 days! I have called them several times and I was told that I would get them the same day by email, ( i urgently needed them to know which area I had failed and needed to work on) it never happened. Then I called and lost my patience because I felt as they were telling me things that I wanted to hear but I was not getting what I wanted. The woman described on the other bad reviews was actually nice and I felt like she wanted to help, she gave me good advice and her direct mobile phone number, it made me feel a bit special as to I can contact her directly if I needed anything. When it came to my feedback I was given different information as to how I would get them , I found it strange that I would receive my feedback by post ( when this is not mentioned on the website that feedback are sent by post) when they could easily send an email. After 3 weeks I got my feedback by email and never received the one sent by post ….

Second attempt : the good part as well is that I had previously booked a date for a test and then realised that I was not ready , that lady kindly told me that it was ok whenever I decided to book I needed to mention that I had already paid the account from before.

So I followed all the instruction from before as to send my id and to agree to whatever we needed to agree on. On the testing day during the registration my name is not being called few of us. The lady then call the company I suppose ask us to send our email address in the chat group and we should get an email. (She said that the reason why our names was not called out was because we never confirmed ) why we would get the zoom link if we have not confirmed ??? Anyways , i sat for math foundation I did not mention earlier , first paper calculator one , the lady sent a link in the chat group I clicked on it and I have started my test, I finished and submitted, mentioned it on the chat group. Same for the next one.

The next day I got a call I am told that I have not submitted my calculator paper , then again they blaming me but they don’t think that they might have had a problem with their IT system. I have submitted my paper, so now I only have one paper taken I need to retake the calculator one , I am very confused and upset will I retake the same one cause I was quite confident I did well in that paper. I have already started uni therefore my weeks are full. I ask if I can take it another day from the usual one , they say no so they are not flexible. So then I said that I did not fully paid because when they called the next day they told me they did not get my paper I did not proceed with the full payment . So because they were not flexible and I guess they thought I was desperate the man suggested that I used my previous paper from my first attempt which I failed to combine it with my second attempt non calculator one . I could not believe my ears, this is when I realised that all they want is the money. However I must give credit to that lady she called me after and suggested another day just for me individually to take the test, but the university had arranged an intern equivalent Gcse test for free, I said that I would think about it. At the end I took it with uni and passed finger in the nose with 88% it’s not the official one cause it’s Intern to the uni but it was good enough for me to start uni. After I attempted to call them once to let them know, did not get an answer I could have also text that lady but whenever I called her or text on that phone she never replied, my mind is now focused on uni cause now I am fully enrolled. I would say that they need to be more organized it seems that they don’t have much staff in the call centre and sometimes they lie to gain time to what they have to do. That lady I think she is trying to get the best service but the employees are not trained well. The lady had a better approach than the man I don’t think I would recommend them from my experience , I am just glad I did not pay fully I only lost the deposit it is money but it is ok, because I would have had to sat again for the calculator paper going through that stress.

I have recently sat two exams with Equivalency Testing. I was so nervous about going down the study route again but I am so glad I did. Everyone I dealt with from start to finish was helpful and supportive. The information I received was clear and most importantly I passed! My results were received very quickly and I could take a sigh of relief. Thank you to all again.

Thank you so much to Equivalency Testing! I’ve passed my combined science exam. Thank you to Penelope who reassured me and requested my exam to be marked within the time period I needed it for ( results came within 30 minutes) amazing company! Will definitely recommend.

When all GCSE's were cancelled for the year, my first choice university where I was holding a conditional offer stated that they accept equivalency tests from this company. Unfortunately, I did not do my due diligence to look up the legitimacy of the company beforehand and so writing this to help others avoid losing their money! Communication is impossible via phone and little to no response from admin or the general info email listed on the website. I booked in finally after hounding them for several months asking to book my maths GCSE higher exam. Upon payment of a deposit, we were sent a link for a Zoom invigilation session and a link to the 'exam' which is just a £200 Google form that you cannot show any workings out in or any mathematical symbols, just type your answers in. I paid extra for the expedited results, which did not arrive when stated they would be, and when I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and waited an extra 2 days before emailing. Only then I all of a sudden I got a phone call with two employees yelling down the phone at me! Very embarrassing as I was at work and my colleagues were aghast that someone would be ringing me and speaking to me in that manner! I was then sent my Maths exam result as if it had been sat for the Maths Foundation rather than Higher, and when I emailed back asking for clarification told off. Either way, was 5 marks off the pass rate as couldn't show workings out and was marked against the wrong exam! Giving it one star, as the Zoom invigilator was excellent - presumably hired as an outside invigilator, with many students on the call anxious and worried as they hadn't received adequate information prior to the day of sitting the exam, she was calm and collected and helped all of us before setting the start and end times. If you can use a different company - do! They did not refund my £25 I paid for the expedited results - and well, the other £175 loss was my own fault for not following my gut instinct when things felt off from the beginning and I had one email back after months and months of sending emails to the company. After my experience, I contemplated whether to resit with another company or just go with my insurance uni in UCAS, so did some quick enquiries with other companies and had a completely different experience! Stay away!

If you can use any other source for this i would recommend doing so.

They are incredibly slack with communication. Once you pay the money for the tutoring aspect they send you a homework pack which is so poor. It has missing information, the written links don't work, it is terrible for the money. The questions on the practice test sometimes cover things that weren't covered in the material so when i called to complain they said "yes, because you need to Google and do your own research. We wont just write the answers for the questions". So i said if i need to research what am i paying them for? The admin woman was so rude to me, she just had an attitude with me the whole time i was saying the cost vs help provided is poor. She offered me a refund saying "we dont care we dont need your money" but said if i get a refund they won't let me take the exam with them at any point, which unfortunately i need to do. Personally I'd just do all the research yourself and avoid the £400 and just book the test with them if you have to because you get nothing for your money.

You send your homework sheets off to your 'tutor' who sends back a sheet with your marks on google docs that doesnt open properly. I complained and they started printing the exams out and sending me some written comments but its so poor feedback, just tells you to revise. Then they stop replying at all. I've asked for my feedback for months now, still waiting on 5 out of the 12 weeks.

I can't believe they are still in business its disgusting. I know another person who has used these and had the same experience

I have recently used equivalency testing to do my maths gcse. They have been fantastic since my first email. Very clear on how to book and sit exams and really helpful and friendly on the phone. I would recommend equivalency testing to anyone who needs to resit any exams. Absolutely fantastic.

From start to finish I was met with the highest standard of professionalism. I had a few questions which were always answered quickly and effectively. Thanks to this service I have passed my exams and I couldn't be happier. I would definitely use them again.

I can not thank Equivalency testing enough. I have just passed my foundation Maths to be able to start the assessment only route to QTS. The support and professionalism is outstanding. I had lots of questions, and they were fantastic and reassuring me, nothing was to much trouble. I will be recommending them to lots of people. Thank you again.

I decided to go with equivalency testing alongside enrolling at college, I was hoping for a fast grade in order to enrol onto teacher training. I revised the entire syllabus myself (maths has never been my strong point) and I'm so thrilled to pass. Equivalency testing have been great throughout, I couldn't recommend them enough to anyone that hasn't achieved their desired gcse or would like to train to teach. I also recieved my results the next day which was a Saturday as I paid for fast track result! Thanks again.

Went with this company after comparing it to the others. Very friendly and helpful from the start, gave me all the information and help I needed to be able to pass my exam and get into teaching.

From my initial contact the Equivalency Testing Team They have been outstanding in helping me achieve my dreams of getting in to teaching my certificate arrived in the post and I just wanted o say a big THANK YOU to you all and wish you all the best.

Yesterday I called them after receiving an email telling me to contact them in case I didn't receive the payment details. I was in shock to encounter the most rude, unprofessional person on the other side of the call.
After being spoken to like a child and told that the email couldn't have come from them, even though it came from their email address; I was in horror to receive a call back from the female's personal number. On the phone she decided that my complaint of their behavior was not warranted and therefore I should take it down or they would not allow me to do the test. I asked time and time again, while she shouted on the phone that I should stop spreading lies and falsehoods about the company, if she was literally blackmailing me, stating that I either come on this website and delete my previous complaint or I would not do my test. I did end up deleting the complaint because for a moment I thought my hands were tight. However, after much thought I stand on my truth. This establishment is rude and very unprofessional and because they don't answer to anyone or is not regulated they think they act however they like. I was also threatened by the same person that if I didn't stop saying that they were rude to me they would take it further.

Train your staff and be kind because this is not a cheap and free service that you are providing. We as costumers are paying hundreds of pounds to be treated with dismissal, rudeness and utter disrespect.

I purchased the English course. After receiving the starter pack, I completed my first assignment. I uploaded it but heard nothing for 3 weeks. I sent several emails but didn't have a reply. Finally, I sent a email of complaint. Within an hour I had a phone call from an extremely rude lady, telling me I had no place complaining and I must have technical issues. During the course of the call I received my feedback for week one. Things picked up, I sent my work every week and the tutor returned it usually within a week with really useful feedback. I have now completed and submitted all 12 assignments. I am still waiting for grades from three weeks ago and I've sent several emails to arrange booking my exam, again, I've received no reply. I have now booked my exam and a science course with a different company. Such as shame because the tasks and feedback were great. It's no good if you can't book the exam though. I think when you're paying for a course or service a certain level of customer service is expected. This is where this company falls flat! I would NOT use this company again. After more research I've found that cheaper self study options are available.
