My old NHS crutch broke irreparably. My new replacement, much better than the original as it is lighter but still strong, arrived the next day. the new crutch is colourful and easier to clean.

I have used Essential Aids twice now and overall I am happy to recommend them, particularly on pricing and product reliability.

On both occasions, the pricing was very competitive compared to alternatives, and the products themselves were exactly as described and of good quality.

However, there is a consistent issue with communication that is worth highlighting.

With my first order, I placed the order and then heard nothing for five days – no confirmation email, no dispatch update, and no indication of delivery timing. I had to email them to prompt action, after which the order was shipped and delivered within a few days. So ultimately it was resolved, but only after I intervened.

With my second order, I proactively emailed them immediately after placing the order to request dispatch. Again, I received no response. Despite that, the order arrived a couple of days later via DPD without any prior confirmation or delivery notification.

So, in both cases:

Orders were fulfilled and delivered within a reasonable timeframe
Products were correct and well priced
But communication can be improved. I did receive emails but just before the driver delivered and then email that my order has been delivered a few days after.

My current approach, based on experience, is to contact them directly each time I place an order to ensure it progresses. That workaround has been effective so far.

I will continue to use Essential Aids because the value is strong and the products are reliable. However, customers should be aware that this is not a “next day, fully tracked with updates” type of service. If communication improves, they would easily be a top-tier supplier.

Recommendation:
Highly recommended for product quality and pricing, but go in with realistic expectations and be prepared to follow up if needed.
