Kind and compassionate
From the day my mum died to when she was buried Peter at the Blandford branch could not have been kinder or more empathetic to the situation. He happily responded to any query we had and I truly believe a very distressing time was made a lot easier by the help and advice he gave us. I would have no hesitation in recommending anyone thinking of using their services.

Saying farewell at the hearse's rear door.
We held a funeral service and celebration of my wife's life at Swanage Methodist Church. Thank you for the funeral you and the church provided. We found saying farewell at the hearse's rear door was more intimate than the crematorium. It also meant thst we could epend time after the servce with those who wanted to remember her.

Did not bother to ell me when my friend…
Did not bother to ell me when my friend of 36 years was cremated. He wanted nobody to attend his cremation but i was told my the funeral directors that i would be told when it was. Very unprofessional of them with a lack of care
As i was down as next of kin and NOTthe person who arranged the funeral who was just the executor of the will i should have been informed.
Therefore your conpany acted very unprofessionally and obvious has no respect for next of kin
Hopefully people will bear this in mind when using and paying for a funeral with your company
Your company rang me regarding the funeral as they were rightly told by the home that i was next of kin andpromised me that i would be told the date of the funeral (lie) . Perhaps you should not make promises you have no intention of keeping. I know what the deceased wanted for his funeral as he discussed the details with me as his friend and work partner of over 30 years. Just want people reading this to beware. Money in pocket, promises out of the window

Thank you for your review, and for the further comments you have added. I am very sorry for the loss of your friend.
Two points of clarity that will help anyone reading. The funeral was arranged on the instructions of the executor of the will, who holds the legal authority for such arrangements and we were given no documentation or instruction recording you in any other capacity.
Being noted as next of kin in other settings, such as medical records, does not transfer authority to the funeral. That is the law, not a company policy.
We followed the wishes of the person who died and the instructions of our client in full, including the request that nobody attend the cremation. Our team acted properly throughout, in line with the wishes given and the duties we held.
If you would like to discuss this with me personally, my door remains open.

Caring, compassionate and professional services
I have chosen to carry on the tradition in my husband's family to choose Douch & Small. My husband was from Wimborne. He had arranged the funerals for his father and a few years later for his mother with the then Charles Small Funeral Directors. Now it's my turn to arrange my husband's funeral so I turned to Douch & Small.
I have chosen to discuss the arrangements at home. Nick Douch came and guided me through the process. He is caring yet professional. The discussion from our first meeting then summarised and communicated via mostly emails. The costs are itemised and transparent. I have amended the order of service sheets, and that was accommodated. Also add one more line on the stone inscriptions, that was also relayed to the stone mason and accommodated too. I also wanted to witness the interment of my late husband's ashes at the cemetery with his close family and friends, that was accommodated too.
Losing my husband is very hard and at times unbearable. Caring, understanding and professional services from Nick Douch and the team at Douch & Small Funeral Directors made my wishes possible. Thank you Nick and the team at Douch & Small, 7 Leigh Road, Wimborne.

When we first spoke on the phone, you were navigating not just the loss of your husband, but also the weight of expectation that can come with it. A sense that certain things simply have to be done in a certain way. I’m glad we had the chance to talk that through properly, so that the choices you made were truly yours and reflected what mattered to you and your husband.
It was also a real honour to continue a connection with your husband’s family that goes back to the days of Charles Small. That kind of trust, passed down through the generations, is something I never take for granted.
From the order of service to the stone inscription, and being present at the interment of his ashes, it was our privilege to make every part of it possible.
Losing your husband is an enormous thing to carry. I hope in the weeks and months ahead you find moments of comfort alongside the grief.
