I used Kardinal as my dealer through which I leased a scooter for three years with the Motability scheme. I had a mixed experience and hope that sharing this will help inform others.
Starting with the positive aspects, the initial application back in 2023 was easy, and the lady who visited me with possible scooters was kind and efficient and didn't pressure me to decide.
After I received the scooter I had a few issues which were looked at promptly, plus I received a loan scooter each time so I wasn't without a product.
Now for the negative aspects. Communication with Kardinal was often very challenging. This was particularly an issue when trying to find out updates in regard to the end of the lease for the current scooter and waiting for the new one. My contact for the current scooter ended on May 31st this year and a few days beforehand I was unable to speak to someone to find out what was happening in regard to the new one (the application for the new one had been placed some weeks earlier). I tried to call and as usual was told someone would call me back, but they didn't. I left a voicemail, but this was also ignored. I wrote a text to an employee's business account, but this wasn't responded to either. She finally did get back to me a few days later, by which time the contract had ended and I was really stressed. She asked if I'd called Motability, which I suppose I should have done, but I was too focused on trying to find out from Kardinal what was going on! Anyway, she told me there was a delay in getting my scooter but only for a week or so. I rang Motability to ask what to do but they said Kardinal only need to update their systems to extend the contract for another month, so I called Kardinal back and this was done. I thought everything was fine.
After a fortnight I hadn't heard anything so I rang Kardinal. Someone said they'd pass the message on but I didn't hear anything more. 3 hours later I tried again and got the voicemail, so I left a message. This wasn't responded to either. I was upset and frustrated so the next day I wrote an email explaining that I need an update and the lack of communication was causing me a lot of stress and having a negative impact on my health. This wasn't responded to either, so the following week I called again and this time I spoke to the employee who did my application; she apologised for my distress which I appreciated, but quickly explained they can't get the scooter due to supplier issues and she could give me some numbers for other dealers to try. She cancelled my application over the phone. I was so shocked and upset at this turn of events that I could barely take it all in. I'd wanted the new scooter since February and it was by then 26th June. I realised when I came off the phone that she hadn't told me what would happen with my current scooter, such as whether it would be collected by them.
After a call with Motability (not Kardinal) I was told that I needed to get a new application in by 29th June (within 4 days) because I'd already had a month's extension which was the maximum. This sent me into a panic because if this didn't happen my current scooter would be returned. I tried another dealer but they basically said no. In desperation I rang Kardinal again (this time actually getting through to the same person) and asked if I could make an application for ANY scooter that they could get hold of, but was told that they're having problems getting any right now. I had the sense - perhaps unfairly - that they didn't want to take me back on after my email. I was very distressed because I didn't think I could find another dealer who would do an application within days, especially as the only options left were out of the local area and they normally need to visit me with a potential scooter for me to try before placing an application. Also, this was the week of the intense heatwave.
However, I was incredibly fortunate to speak to another dealer the following day who recognised the difficult situation I was in and did the application for another scooter over the phone (not the original one I wanted, but one I could have quickly) before bringing a new one out for me to try. I was so grateful because otherwise I would have been forced to leave the Motability scheme and have no mobility product.
Kardinal may have intended to do their best for me under difficult circumstances but they could have handled things differently. In particular, they could have answered messages, kept me updated, and informed me what would happen once the application was cancelled. It was a difficult and distressing situation for me to be left in.
As a result, I would advise that anyone considering using Kardinal as their dealer via Motability finds out what the current situation is with their suppliers, and be aware that communication can be difficult.
Driver was very helpful upon delivery helped to get it in back way
I would like to thank Kardinal Independent Living for my scooter, it was delivered today, it's in beautiful condition and I would highly recommend for other disabled people living in the UK especially who are wanting a mobility scooter to go to Kardinal for all their services, they are so very efficient and friendly people to deal with, and Very very true to their word, it's free delivery, they're a friendly family company and all scooters are reasonably priced. Thank you again Kardinal Independent Living Shirley from Hereford.
I am utterly disappointed with Kardinal Independent Living. Over two and a half months ago, I placed an order for a mobility scooter, which I subsequently canceled myself due to their excessive delays and lack of communication. Despite canceling the order myself, they have refused to issue a refund for the goods that were never delivered.
Their refusal to refund a canceled order is not only unacceptable but also unethical. I have had to ask my bank to force a refund, which they have successfully done . It’s astounding that a company can behave so unprofessionally, ignoring basic consumer rights and leaving customers out of pocket after claiming to process an order.
Their unwillingness to honor a cancellation and refund customers for undelivered goods demonstrates gross negligence and a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. Such practices should be widely condemned.
I strongly advise anyone considering doing business with Kardinal Independent Living to steer clear. Their arrogant refusal to respect customer cancellations and provide refunds reflects poorly on their integrity and business ethics.
In summary: Do not trust this company — their service is unreliable, their ethics questionable, and they show a complete lack of accountability.
This company wants more information they think I’m not a real customer guess they would like to take this review down THAT SAYS IT ALL I have lots of of documentation to prove I am a real customer The truth obviously hurts them
nice friendly staff and excellent advice as to my needs.
Kardinals Independant living-
What went wrong: ordered new scooter. Did not arrive. Poor communication. Refund requested- this took weeks to return- very stress inducing situation for me. Contacted my bank and Trading Standards office to get legal advise on my next steps. They were very helpful through the Citizen Advise Help line.
It should NOT, have been this hard.
Please improve kardinals.
All staff were extremely polite and respectful however this company I simply cannot recommend to friends or family , or leave a more positive review .
How the company can improve:
Keep customers up to date on delivery .
Keep customers informed on issues with delivery.
Refund r money on time ( 2-3 working days not as I almost 4 weeks of daily misinformation and excuses, that in the end became unbearable .
Pay the ‘goodwill gesture’ compensation that Kardinals offer ( £350 offered overall- £250 then a separate £100 due to the utter shambles and incompetence that the MD consistently apologised for and was polite at all times- however its was dreadfully stressful and anxiety inducing behaviour of a company which this should not be tolerated moving forward.
I bought a scooter from kardinal and paid upfront I had to wait for the scooter to be fully checked over so it was to be delivered a week later.
Unfortunately my scooter got damaged in the delivery process so Connor the managing director phoned me and offered me a much better scooter with better spec and a much higher price along with 12month warranty as a goodwill gesture.
Well once it arrived which was the very next day at 7.30 am I was blown over by how nice and good looking my new scooter was I just had to take it for a test drive, and my o my what a difference in comparison to my old scooter, it was like riding on a cloud so smooth. So in conclusion a big Thankyou to Connor for turning a disappointing situation into a fantastic situation, I can honestly say buy with confidence as Connor even told me any problems whatsoever and we will sort it for you.

They really made the experience simple and easy!
We had phoned them up a few months ago to ask for advice about a particular make of mobility scooter. They provided their advice in a really helpful and non-pushy way.
When we were in a position to buy a scooter, we went straight back to them. Conor was really helpful over emails and we had a great experience being shown different scooters that matched our needs and at different price points.
Whole process was really simple, not pressured and the staff were a pleasure to deal with.
Can't wait to receive the scooter and get out and about.

This company have stolen £2500 from me. Don't trust a word the managing director says. 6 months later I still have no scooter or refund. I am disabled with learning disabilities. What a way to treat people. I been so ground down by the whole experience. I'm just devastated and don't know where to turn. The managing director only takes your calls when he thinks he's getting money out of you. After that you'll be palmed off by a series of gatekeeping lackies. I'm happy to supply any documentation this site needs to confirm this is a genuine customer.
I’ve been asked for more information regarding this. They know exactly who I am. I can supply lots of evidence to back this up. The managing director won’t even take my calls now even tho I’m told he’ll ring me back every time. He never does. I have no scooter and they still have my money.
I Orded brand new scooter in December 2025 didn't get one till March 2026. Service was disgusting. Loads of broken problems. When I said I was going to cancel my order and get my refund, they offered me another scooter and half of my refund so I accepted the offer. Got my scooter but I have been chasing them for refund that never came. Do NOT buy anything from them.
Just a few adjectives to describe the service at Kardinal - helpful - knowledgeable - friendly
I can recommend this company 100%

UPDATE 17/08
Kardinal has now gone into liquidation, directors have opened a company called Nova Mobility Group Ltd. We have started a support group on Facebook for those who have been victims of this company, the MD sent someone in to take screenshots which has finally triggered contact. Unfortunately, I cannot allow them to continue like this.
UPDATE 29/7
Legal proceedings have now been started, apparently they can't get replacement parts for the damage and they can't swap the used scooter for a new one for some reason. £500 compensation offered and refused.
UPDATE 16/7
A final letter before starting legal action has now been sent. One month since I informed them of the issues and nearly 4 months since initial contact and we are still no further forward. Parts are apparently out of stock although no proof has been shown. Constantly ignored and I was actually asked to stop contacting via WhatsApp 🤷
UPDATE 2/7
Apparently the company didn't receive a reply when chasing the parts last week and he has finally chased them again and replied to me. No indication of how long this will take, given this is supposed to be sorted without inconvenience to myself according to the consumer rights act 2015, it looks like I will have to press forward with legal action in the near future.
UPDATE 30/6
Over 2 weeks since I was promised new parts would be ordered and arranged to be fitted. Was told Friday 26th that he would chase it up and give me an update and I'm now being ignored. Wonder if it will be another 3 months of me chasing for it to be sorted?
I first contacted Kardinal mid March 2026, and I am STILL fighting to sort things. We wanted to exchange a 2 year old Cabin car for something that's more portable. Eventually, after lots of back and forth via WhatsApp (I am autistic and really struggle with phone calls) we finally agreed on a straight swap for a brand new Pride Revo 2.0. Again, lots of fighting and back and forth to sort delivery and it finally arrives (with no promised delivery slot, just randomly arrived that day). Imagine our surprise when we open it and it was very clearly used. Connor was shocked! Said it was definitely the wrong thing and he would sort it. Had to chase about the used one being collected, and again they just randomly arrived. Took it and another portable one we had, with no sign of swapping the used scooter for a new one. Eventually, I'm told that there's an issue with the brand new Pride Revo 2.0 we were supposed to get. Connor offered an upgrade to a BRAND NEW Pride Baja Bandit. Told me that the Revo was being phased out and the Bandit was replacing it or something. He sends me a picture, turns out this one is a customer return. He claimed the customer had it less than 7 days, but it looked more used than that. He claimed it was in "excellent condition", which is odd given it was supposed to be brand new. He also claimed they were waiting for a charger for it. Again, it's supposed to be brand new. How do we know the customer only had it 7 days? How do we know there's not some issue hidden away?
Had to get trading standards involved, and sent a final letter before starting legal action. They sent me a picture of a "brand new" Baja Bandit they were sending, claimed it was not the customer return and was brand new. Arranged for it to be delivered on the Monday and was told we would get a time slot at 9am. Well, you guessed it! No time slot until the afternoon, 3pm. It arrives, wrapped in clingfilm and on a pallet. They take away the Pride Revo 2.0 finally.
WELL SURPRISE, SURPRISE! THE SCOOTER IS DAMAGED! And my husband said it smelled of cigarettes!!
Connor claims that the damage occurred in transit, under multiple layers of clingfilm. I actually managed to spot the damage on a picture HE sent me.
We are back to being ignored by Connor, despite the Consumer Rights Act 2015 stating that the damaged parts must be repaired or replaced in a timely manner. I was holding off writing reviews to see how they would handle things but to be honest I've had enough.
Do not use this company unless you're willing to chase them for 3+ months and take legal action. The way they treat people is disgusting, never mind that their customers are predominantly disabled.
From beginning to end was a seem less experience and especially the difference payment options, especially when I needed the wheelchair with my declining health.
Thank you

So this is a revised version of my original review.
Delivery driver turned up and it was raining and he didn't show me how the scooter worked or came apart, not rocket science but it was similar to the previous scooter I had.
The managing director contacted me due to a previous issue and sent me a replacement scooter and although we sorted things out I could have done without the stress, anyways the scooter itself has a great battery and a good range, now im not the tallest person but the scooter is rather small in length for me, the seat is very uncomfortable even with another foam cushion on top of the original seat, its very light weight and comes apart easily to fit in my boot of my car, im pleased with the scooter overall and im happy that the MD actually reads these reviews and contacted me, so based on my experience so far id recommend this company to others and I have done, id also be interested to know if this scooter is available in 8mph version and how much for a used one to purchase, now things have gone south as they say, the scooter battery is left charging over night, put it on scooter and the gauge shows not fully charged, use it for a while, turn off and turn back on it then shows fully charged, so happy days, no! Battery got down to 50% on gauge and this is all i can access the battery level on, well the 1st 50% lasted over 6hrs while out and about, so one would assume the same for the last 50% so as we were away for a family break we went to a soft play area, after parking car at the lodge, I got to the soft play 50% remaining got some drinks and then went outside, a total distance from getting drinks to outside 15ft, then decided to come back in, got in through the door and the scooter died, I've never been so embarrassed when I had to get workers to push me home as I cant weight bare on my leg, so called up, to be told that they would take the scooter back today 26/6/26 but it would be an early pick up 07:00 this was agreed and nobody turned up, but I was also told that id have no scooter to use while checks on the faulty one were carried out, should it be my problem if your machine develops a fault that im penalised and made not to have a replacement so I can go out? As im housebound otherwise! Anyways no replacement scooter, scooter not collected, had to call and arrange another date, so this is really stressing me out, so if no replacement while you look at the one I've hired, keep the scooter and i will have no choice but to cancel the DD and look for another hire option elsewhere
