Very disappointing experience.
I had an out of hours visit through Practice Plus Group, and the main issue is what happened afterwards. The details of the visit and the prescription information were not sent to my GP, which has created unnecessary stress and disruption in follow-up care.
What makes this worse is that it has been extremely difficult to get this corrected. I have not been able to reach anyone who actually understands how to resend the consultation details and prescription information to my GP. I keep hitting a wall, with no clear ownership and no practical resolution.
For a healthcare provider, continuity of information is not a minor administrative issue. If the outcome of an OOH appointment does not reliably reach the patient’s GP, that undermines confidence in the whole service.
The clinical visit itself is only part of the job. Proper communication afterwards is just as important, and in my case Practice Plus Group failed on that.

PPG runs the NHS 111 service in our area.
They are clearly not interested in the 111 service and prefer to concentrate on the private side of their business.
When calling 111 the operators are very often rude, arrogant and aggressive. They lack basic knowledge and it does not occur to them that patients are calling because they have a health issue (and are regularly advised to call 111 rather than other services).
By the way, there is absolutely no point in raising a complaint with PPG. We did so a couple of years back after I was receiving text messages from them regarding a call I never made.
For approximately a month they kept pushing me around to different departments/locations, never getting anywhere and speaking to a very rude manager who advised they were too busy to talk to me.
Rather strangely, there was a constant IT issue throughout the period of my contact with them, therefore none of our telephone conversations were recorded from their side. Eventually they just stopped responding.
As someone who has life limiting disease I didn't have the strength to pursue this further.
Absolutely appalling company with regard to the NHS 111 service. If this is what the NHS is spending its money on, no wonder it is going downhill so quickly.
This should be the first area in which they make cutbacks.

I went to Practice Plus Group MSK centre in High Wycombe for a private ultra sound knee steroid injection. The experience was extremely positive , the receptionist was friendly , the consultant gave clear explanations about what was happening and what I should experience . Sound advice was given for activity over the next few days.
I would highly recommend this group.

After a referral to Shepton Mallet Practise Plus. after a 2 month wait on 17th Feb I saw the surgeon who agreed to operate. On April 17th after not hearing anything and several attempts to get in touch, I was finally told by a nurse that the lead anaesthetist, (without ever seeing me or speaking to me) has rejected me for surgery. Due to a rare gene I have that gives me no issues. I had provided information from the leading specialist in this genetic condition who assured me there is no risk to me having surgery at this type of hospital. The specialist team had kindly written a letter and offered to speak to the anaesthetist, but to my understanding the anaesthetist didn't take this up and spoke to another Dr who is not a specialist in this field, before deciding I wasn't suitable for surgery. I tried to appeal, it would have made a huge difference and taken only a few minutes for the anaesthetist to call me to discuss this, but I was told No. The whole thing was handled really badly.
Nobody contacted me, it was always me trying to ring to find out what was happening, many times it was impossible to get through on the phone, even to the main reception, the phone would ring and ring then go dead. If I tried to get through to bookings I was often in a queue of 7 or more before speaking to someone. The staff were friendly and polite, but the way I was treated in this process is inhumane.
The biggest irony is that I worked here myself as a nurse for 10 years! I expected so much better.
This is my critique of the telephone service and not the facility.
Telephone call wait times are unacceptably long; waiting for one hour in a queue suggests that this service is understaffed and requires reviewing. I have used the telephone service on a number of occasions and waiting for an hour (sometimes longer) has been the norm.

One thing that is inconvienient is that after seeing a consultant, the long wait up to two hours to see nurses for follow up tests such as blood tests etc, I expected better seeing it is a private consultation.

I have used Practice Plus Group several times over the past 4 years mainly for scans of all kinds to aid later diagnosis. This service had been without fault and provided timely treatment.
Late last year I consulted Mr Akhbari for a shoulder injury. He recommended a procedure called subacromial decompression. I had this procedure in March of this year at Shepton. The hospital facilities and staff provided exceptional, personalised treatment. Throughout, Mr Akhbari had my full confidence providing exceptional surgeon patient communication. The NHS could learn from the methods the Practice Plus Group apply to their patients. I have nothing but praise and recommendations for the Shepton Hospital and its staff.

I was an NHS patient and have withdrawn from care at Woodford/Ilford because it felt so lacking. The consultant showed no empathy and made no effort to explain a treatment plan. I was met with shrugs and sarcastic comments, which felt so weird for a caring profession. I left feeling so confused. Comms with the department were also terrible. I was lost in the system multiple times, didn't get results until I chased and chased. I have now been chasing my records - constantly - for two months, and am preparing to report them to the Information Commissioner. I have now transferred to an NHS hospital instead, and the care I am getting there is wonderful - there's a wait list but they are deeply caring and have excellent communication. But the time with Practice Plus has very much delayed a resolution to my health issue.
Everything great. Caring - professional and reassuringly open and honest

Care was outstanding, I cannot say I was excited about an operation on my knee but it has been worth all the worry as I have no pain after about 3 weeks after the operation. Follow up exercises are worth doing, thank you Shepton Mallet.

After some delays (at the NHS end of things) I was referred to the hand surgery team at Practice Plus Group, Ilford. I was reviewed on the Tuesday and immediately scheduled for a carpal tunnel release on the Saturday following. Mr Pardiwala and his team did a fantastic job: the procedure takes less time than a dental examination. It was painless and the recovery took about ten days. Fantastic!

I have now had cataract surgery on both eyes, both done be Mr Querish and supported by the Rochdale team. Before I went to the first appointment I was very anxious about the procedure but the excellent care and attention I received dealt with this well. I still have not got over the huge improvement in my vision. The colour that has been added to my world is awesome. I definite feel I made the right choice in where to have it done. First class!
