I couldn’t have asked for a better driving instructor than Yousaf Hassan. Passing my test in Chertsey with only one minor fault still feels surreal, and it’s all down to the journey he guided me through.

Before starting with him (with a previous instructor) I lacked the fundamentals needed to feel safe and confident on the road. I was an extremely anxious driver, and outside pressures only made that worse. From day one, Yousaf created a calm and supportive environment, something as simple as having tissues ready in the car showed how much he genuinely cared. He helped me manage my anxiety and, more importantly, taught me how to believe in myself and stay in control of my thoughts while driving.

What really sets him apart is how he tailors his teaching. He took the time to understand my personality and learning style, even using music and endless patience to help me overcome specific challenges. He emphasised key techniques like “mirror of the gas” whereas my previous instructor was reminding me to ensure in the test the Examiner will see that I was checking the mirror but Yousaf explained to me if you are just going to show the examiner it means you wont be checking mirrors after you’ve passed so he installed the habit of checking my mirrors for my own safety and explained why it’s required to check. This is so I can come off the gas to engage engine braking giving myself time to Look Assess Decide & Act according to the situation. Also helping me to correctly use the gas padle, teaching me how to position my foot in order to control the car under any situation. He gave me the confidence and awareness to react safely and in good time.

He always reminded me that I wasn’t just learning to pass a test, but to become a safe driver for life. That perspective stuck with me and especially thinking about the responsibility of having loved ones, like my younger siblings, in the car.

This experience has been about so much more than driving. I’ve grown not only as a driver but as a person. Yousaf puts 100% energy into every lesson and truly cares about his students’ success. One of the most valuable lessons he’s taught me is that failure only happens when you give up and that’s something I’ll carry with me far beyond driving.
He also taught me another best technique to keep me calm n focused on the road was "Commentry Driving" Which Really helped me to control my anxiety n it showed clearly during the test that I not only passed first time after learning from him and had only 1 driving fault.

I’m incredibly grateful for everything he’s done and couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

Just passed today, and I couldn’t have done it without my lessons with James Ursell. He was really thorough in each lesson, explained what was planned at the beginning, and always asked if there was anything specific I wanted to go over. He was always calm and patient, which really helped with my nerves. I’d recommend him to anyone who wants to learn to drive.

I don’t normally do reviews on anything, but I had Michal Polowczyk and he was a hell of a Instructer, I passed today with 4 minors and only had 7 lessons with him, if you went with anyone I definitely recommend him, his instructions were very clear and he definitely makes you know your mistakes and it helps a lot! Thank you mate I really appreciate it!

Following on from my previous review, the situation with Red Driving School has unfortunately not improved.

After the issues I initially experienced, I was told I would be transferred to another instructor. However, this has still not been resolved, and due to the ongoing delays, I requested a refund instead. I was then informed that this would be processed, but despite this, no refund has been received.

What is most frustrating is the lack of follow-through. Being told that a refund will be issued and then not receiving it, along with no communication, has only added to the overall negative experience.

At this stage, I am simply looking for the refund that was promised so I can move on and continue my learning elsewhere. I would strongly recommend that others ensure they are clear on refund policies and communication expectations before committing.

Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience from start to finish and im going to be following up again with red for the refund if continue to avoid it .

Great instructor couldn’t ask for anyone better

After two chaotic lessons via other companies I was very lucky to bump into Juliet Jones (south east London region) on the street outside my house as she was putting away the L sign from her car.

After a brief chat she directed me to book lessons with her via Red, and from that point on I was in safe hands.

Juliet is methodical, patient, knowledgeable and reliable. The lessons were clearly structured and delivered. With a big wait for tests she also gave great advice on how to space the lessons to keep confident and well practiced whilst factoring in cost.

Thanks to Juliet’s great instruction I passed my test first time. I highly recommend her!

I passed my test 1st try with the instructor Jason Meaning. Having previously had a bad experience from a different instructor he made me feel confident and at ease when driving. His inside knowledge of test routes and the way examiners work enabled me to fully prepare for my test and be calm when taking it.

I passed my test 1st attempt today after great help and support from Serigne. He was such a calm and relaxed instructor. After a bad experience with a previous instructor he really made me feel at ease and developed my skills quickly. Thank you Serigne, I couldn't have passed 1st time without you.

I had a great experience learning to drive with Niall. I was initially very nervous, but he was patient, supportive, and explained everything clearly. He really helped build my confidence and improve my skills each lesson.

My Oxford based ADI Shalena Rahman and her husband Abdul were absolutely fantastic! They are such lovely people and incredibly welcoming, I had a bit of a rough experience with a previous instructor and I went into lessons with my confidence broken. But these two completely turned that around and made me feel so much more confident about myself and my driving. I was able to focus better, enjoy it more and excel in my skills dramatically! They are two of the kindest and most understanding people I have ever met and I would seriously recommend them to anyone else. I’m very happy to say that I passed first time and I put all of that up to these two. I cannot thank them enough and I wish them all the best!

Website is fantastic, great booking system, but very disappointing service. Instructor allocated to my son was very good for the first few sessions but last Saturday he was obviously having a bad day and ended up shouting at my son which really knocked his confidence. I’m not paying £90 per two hour session (super high for the market) to have someone shout. I called up to change the instructor and was told nobody could be recommended, it was “pot luck”. I said “is there not a scoring system from students? So the ones with the highest ratings can be selected?” No. I asked for a woman in that case as they’re often more patient and empathetic. Only one female instructor operating in my area and she doesn’t do weekends. I got a refund and have signed up with AA which was cheaper and just as efficient online. I’m really disappointed overall. I wouldn’t recommend Red.

Couldn’t fault my instructor Mick Horsley throughout the entire experience of learning to drive with him and passing my test. Patient, kind and an excellent teacher.

Niall Davies - Great teacher, helped me pass first time. Lessons had a good structure and learnt something new every time. Great experience learning to drive with him.

Red has a few drawbacks: the app just links to the website so isn’t very helpful. The digital charge and booking fees are steep and occur every time you buy lessons. HOWEVER it is a really reliable service and the instructor in my area (SE4) was absolutely fantastic. Michael Kodwiw was calm, patient, efficient, always punctual, generous, accommodating and so brilliant. He helped me pass my test in Bromley with just two minors! He went above and beyond, can’t recommend him highly enough!

I got passed with red instructor antony gray based at dorchester . Lessons for 24 hrs become very useful to pass on my first attempt.He is very friendly,co-operative and supportive to overcome nerves during lessons.

My instructor Erigert helped me pass my test at Brentwood in a week! he was very patient and made sure i understood the manoeuvres before moving on.

This company feels like a complete scam. Trading Standards are investigating them, which says a lot about how they operate. There are far cheaper and much better driving schools out there—do yourself a favour and avoid this one at all costs.
