If I could give minus stars I would

If I could give minus stars I would. I have never known an organisation as useless, slow and incompetent as these people. The universal credit section is a joke and has no care for anyone and I won’t go into great deal as it is my intention to take legal action against this government dept but they have serious negative impact on people’s lives

Probably the best DWP advisor ever.

I have in the past had very negative experiences with DWP staff, poor and unhelpful attitudes and sometimes downright rudeness. Today though, I spoke with the most helpful and polite young lady ever. I had a problem with my pension not arriving in my bank in Spain when it should have, it was an issue with a Spanish and a UK bank holiday happening on a Friday in Spain and a Monday in the UK. Normally I would get my pension on a Monday but with a bank holiday it arrives on a Friday, last friday was a bank holiday in Spain. A double whammy, but, as I had recently returned my life certificate, I panicked and assumed it had not arrived. The advisor went through all the usual ID checks very patiently, checked that the payment had been made, and then checked my life certificate had been received. All was OK, the pension had been sent, delayed because of two bank holidays, the life certificate had been received, so she confirmed that all was OK on the phone and then sent the text confirmation. Keep employing staff like this person DWP.

Totally biased and discriminatory behaviour

North Kensington JobCentre Plus
The UC system is made to be not transparent so vulnerable people can suffer with more problems and make you feel micromanaged. Some of the work coaches are incompetent and do not know how to help disabled people or people looking for work. That is not their job!! Funding is very limited or what they feel is better for your development.
They are lazy and do not care about people’s physical and mental wellbeing. I have been in more stress for over a year in that place than any other job centre (North Kensington). They do not want to spend money to help you develop yourself if you are housebound. They don’t care if you are suicidal and struggling to cope with life. Many people I speak to just don’t have any will to live. It’s getting worse.

Appalling service

Appalling, incompetent service delivery. Letters and complaints go unresponded to and original items lost. Communication dire. Managers need immediate sacking and the government held accountable to tax payers.

I normally receive my state pension weekly which I normally had paid into my wifes bank. Owing to a change of circumstances I arranged to have it paid into my own bank. My pension was always paid weekly on a Wednesday, but it's been a week and I've received nothing. I have tried phoning different numbers given online that either never get answered, or they just cut you off. I am 73 years of age, in very poor health and have had no money for over a week now. This is making me very ill and feeling suicidal!

These creatures are the absolute lowest…

These creatures are the absolute lowest of the low. My husband has cancer that has metastised to both his lungs. The doctor has signed an SR1 form for him. Another SR1 (Special Rules 1) form basically means that he is likely to die, possibly within a year. It is designed to take the strain away, from a seriously ill person, of the application for PIP. It is supposed to be fast tracked and paid out within 2 weeks.
We were told his claim would be backdated 6 months because he felt too stressed to do the application properly back then. The SR1 ruling was supposed to make it all simple.
Cancer is absolutely devastating to the patient and their loved ones. On top of the constant stress, worry, appointments, bad news and tears, you then have to deal with the impending financial devastation!
My husband has paid tax 40 years. The thought of getting the back payment was a tiny glimmer in a sea of stress and misery.
Yesterday, whilst I was sat worrying about tomorrow's medical appointment (where we find out if the chemotherapy is even working!). I get a call to inform me he won't be getting a back payment at all. Oh, and it is going to take a other 2 weeks because somebody forgot to do the forms! Incidentally, the first dwp creature he spoke to had absolutely no empathy whatsoever and hadn't even heard of SR1! Was trying to get him to search for work. He's still working because he has to!
They said "sorry". I'll tell the government that when we can no longer pay our council tax! I'll tell the thieving water companies when we can't pay for our water!
This country is a disgrace, whatever the government. People like my husband and I are of no importance whatsoever. They save money when we just go away and die!
I cried my heart out, my husband is even more stressed and depressed.
Don't believe these people when they promise you anything!
May they all rot in hell!

After 30 years of paying into the…

After 30 years of paying into the system at maximum rates, I became medically vulnerable and needed support. What I received instead was a regime designed to bully, obstruct, and cause financial distress.

The DWP does not function as a safety net. It functions as a deterrent. The process bears no relationship to the reality of people's lives, medical circumstances, or the urgency of their situations. This is the conception of a witless, dim, ignorant, ideologically driven and deeply cruel man, Ian Duncan-Smith.

It drives anxiety in people who are already unwell. It threatens housing security. It treats claimants as problems to be managed rather than citizens who have paid for a service they are now entitled to receive.

This is not incompetence. Incompetence implies good intentions badly executed. This is a system operating exactly as designed — one where cruelty is a feature, not a failure. Ninety thousand staff administering a process that actively harms the people it exists to serve. As taxes rise, we really should be asking more about how they are spent.

If you are healthy and employed, understand this clearly: there is no safety net waiting for you. When you need it, the system you have funded your entire working life will treat you as an adversary and will exercise cruelty as a routine part of its activities. Plan accordingly.

they don't follow their own rules

Having previously claimed Tax Credits and received a migration notice, with the reminder that in order to receive Transitional Protection, I must claim Universal Credit before the deadline, which I did.

They then stop my universal Credit award, telling me to claim Pension Credit because I am in receipt of a state pension. Which I was receiving when I was told to claim Universal Credit. So what happened to Transitional Protection?

I have rasied a complaint, they haven't even replied to.

So I have claimed Pension Credit. They claimed they didn't receive the forms they sent me, leading to a four week delay. They sent someone else's forms in the same envelope, so someone else has also had their award delayed,

I have finally been awarded Pension Credit and received an arrears payment, but they have decided, based on the same information provided that there has been a change in my circumstances, so from April 1st (how appropriate), my award has been reduced by £100 a week. No explanation of why, or a calculation showing where this extra income is supposedly coming from.

I am now at the rear of the queue, four weeks after submitting my response, it is still in the queue.

I note the standard request to treat staff with respect, Try considering that if your customers are treated with respect and provided with an efficient service, then they wouldn't get frustrated and use hurty words to express this

Disgusting and vile organisation.

My mother is 98 and in heart failure, has severe mobility issues and has lived in the same council house for 72 years, the house I was raised in.

on 28th Sept 2025, my wife and I were made homeless, as the landlord was forced to sell the property. My wife and I had to put all our belongings into storage and move in with temporarily while we found a new place to rent close to her. Our long term plan is to move to France when my Mother passes.

The local council classified us as 'homeless', hence my mother didn't have to start paying council tax. However, this vile organisation wrote to her in January and demanded she repay £1300 as we were living with her in her spare room with our cockapoo. So, one organisation classifies us as 'homeless' but the disgusting DWP doesn't, even though my Mother didn't have a lot of option. They also removed her benefits. You can only imagine how my Mothers health plummeted with the stress and a demand for £1300.

We contacted Kemi Badenoch who was straight on the case for us but even she coudn't fight these vile leeches. Basically, my Mother was the wrong colour and religion and that is not a racist comment. If a 98 year old Afghan refugee had been given leave to remain here, living on benefits paid by the British taxpayer and had offered to take in two illegal migrants, the DWP would have thrown money at her.

We are so angry, not for ourselves because we can sort ourselves out and will do so within the next two months but to demand £1300 from a lady who did so much for her community is obscene to the extreme. I hope Richard Pull from the DWP Complaints Team rots in hell

Absolutely pathetic

Absolutely pathetic. All these complaints and nothing done. These yo-yos on the end of the phone don’t have a clue what they are doing and are very rude. On hold for over an hour then whilst asking my disabled relative who hates phones the security questions we were cut off, I’m assuming due to her impatience, maybe it was dog walking time or time to meet her mates for coffee. Absolutely fuming. Just penned a letter instead, don’t have much confidence it’ll get me anywhere, this is for a change in circumstances and important. They’ll be threatening to take a man who is in residential care who cannot walk who has anxiety issues to court soon due to not letting them know. Come on government get something done this treatment of people is not good enough. Just being on hold for over an hour and more is not acceptable but to be rudely cut off is just nasty and frustrating. life is too short to waste waiting about for someone who won’t help you, their getting paid as we will never get that wasted time back and get nothing but stress.

Incompetent unreachable DWP

Incompetent, unreachable and a disgrace for a department of state. Citizens pay into a state system tax and national insurance allowance their working lives and this is the shambolic result. Unable to get through, passed from pillar to post, sent letters to sign and return which never get a response. What on earth is going on?

Jobcentre abuse

She sits there so refined
with one thing on her mind
You find a job or suffer sanctions
designed to concentrate the mind
Dispensed by Lola, the witch from dole-A
Don't try to tell her its not fair
because Lola doesn't care
Don't make your case or shed a tear
for it will fall on her deaf ears
Empathy she doesn't do
or abide by any rules
Except ones of her own invention
pressurise is her intention
Walk the dogs, pick up poo
dead end job will have to do
to get the government off my case
her wrath I'm not prepared to face
So this is where I take my leave
her target met, result achieved

DWP sent a letter to my mum saying that she did not know about her NHS pension and that she owes them £2.079.76p but when we look at the calculations they have given its £71.22 x3 =£213.66 +£84.91 = £295.57. So not the £2.079.76p that they are asking for it does not make sense and then when you try and contact them they put the phone down on me and sent to the wrong department. Disgusting especially when my mum has disabilities and cant hear properly and needs help when speaking on the phone.

Claiming for attendance allowance

Claiming for attendance allowance - One astar is too good. Suffering from advanced kidney disease and heart failure, with mobility issues and a spinal injury, I claimed Attendance Allowance and after a 6 week wait, got a letter saying I was entitled to higher rate payments from March 3rd. It also said that they would send another leter to say when payments would begin. Since then - nothing! I have tried to phone them several times but they don't answer or the phone goes dead. I am very grateful for the award for sure, but have received nothing. I am not able to afford taxis to get to frequent hospital appointments, or anything other than the basics.

Benefit fraud and Identity theft!!!! Please all read.

In 2019 I reported to the DWP that an individual had made multiple claims in my name.
In 2020 on my birthday I had to attend an interview under caution with the DWP.
I was happy to attended as I had evidence to prove that I did not make these claims - especially to be stupid enough to do it in my name.
They mentioned that had CCTV footage of the individual and recorded calls.
This was good news to me and this was hard evidence proving it wasn't me.
How this individual was able to pass security and claim to be me is a mystery - We look nothing alike...
I chased this up every month with the DWP, Met Police and Action fraud.
All parties were so reluctant to help and there was a lack of urgency.
Despite my reporting and notes on the system till this day 2026... 6 years later the DWP have not done anything about this and have continued to take payment from my wages.
This has cause me a lot of stress over the years especially during Covid where I had to claim - nearly a 3rd of the benefits was taken back by the DWP so I had nothing to live on for the month.
I have started a new Job in the new year and recently had a baby. I made my most recent report last year and have not heard anything back since. This individual is still out there living their best life while a victim has to suffer for their actions. The DWP owe me hundreds back from wages taken from me and some sort of compensation for dragging this in for 6 years. Some people would had killed themselves by now.
