Awful experience
Was on the phone with a Lisa from carers allowance this afternoon, she was not any help to me and refused to transfer me to another advisor then hung up
Customer service second to none
I phoned DWP this morning to give some further information on a claim that a member of my family is making.
The lady that I spoke with (Julie) was the consummate professional, polite, friendly and cheerful. She listened to everything I said and read it back to ensure she had the details accurately.
Having such good staff as this lady instils an air of confidence in the service and is a model of how customer service should be undertaken.
Sincere thanks to Julie and, I'm sure the rest of the team.
If a couple over 75 is receiving…
If a couple over 75 is receiving pension credit which entitles them to free TV LICENCE. You would think on the demise of one, pension credit would continue along with free TV licence. But that’s too easy.Lets make a process which is inefficient and get the widower to jump hoops in the name of process to be eligible.
Corrupt Criminals
Anyone at DWP that contributes to the death of disabled and vulnerable people need locking up in prison and never letting out. And I know you read these reviews, you KNOW you’re guilty of such crimes.
If you’re so adamant you “help” people. Then why do you continue to hide the numbers of excess deaths caused by the DWP?!
My experience with the Department of…
My experience with the Department of Work and Pensions has been deeply disappointing. It feels like most employees are more interested in finding faults and reasons to be offended than genuinely helping people. Many people who come to the DWP are already struggling and in need of support, yet instead of compassion, they often face indifference or even hostility.
Like many UK government departments, the DWP seems to paint everyone with the same brush based on the actions of a few abusive individuals. While I always try to approach meetings politely and with understanding, I have still encountered disrespect and felt insulted. Although I believe these negative encounters are not the majority, the attitude of some staff members suggests they dislike working with the public and are more focused on protecting themselves than providing help.
It’s disheartening to see that many people working in the DWP appear to be there for the wrong reasons, seemingly treating it as a job for pin money rather than a role where they genuinely want to make a positive difference. Overall, my experience has left me feeling unsupported and undervalued.
P.S. Not so with hardship payments, when you call them they treat you with respect and understanding and are never in a hurry thank you 5 stars
DWP ARE A JOKE.
DWP ARE A JOKE.
my payment is due on 26th december 2025 I get it on 24th December how the hell am I suppose to do a Christmas shop there be nothing in the stores these are a joke how they treat people on benefits
Poor service
I had a call from DWP. I was out, with lots of people around me so unable to talk about confidential information. The DWP suggested he could call back and we agreed 3pm the same day. He did not call at 3pm, but instead at 4.48pm when I was in a meeting and unable to take the call. I then received the following txt:
‘DWP have tried to call you twice about paying voluntary National Insurance contributions but could not reach you. If you still want to pay them, you need to ring 0800 731 0175 by 11/01/2026. You will not be contacted again’.
You don’t reach someone if you don’t call at the time that was agreed! Poor service.
POOR SERVICE FROM DWP AND NI
After illness and having apace maker fitted and being signed off by the doctor and receiving no benefits at all i tried to claim ESA have been refused as my NI payment was not allocated although i have made all payments and have proof of all payments made .A MISTAKE ON THERE SIDE. I have now been told it could take 52 weeks to sort out. Very poor service I now have to live on fresh air. The only thing I can do now is catch a ferry to France and buy a dingy and row back then i will be able to get help Thanks for nothing DWP
Been waiting for pip tribunal for about…
Been waiting for pip tribunal for about 8 months
The DWP only purpose is to cause stress to disable and sick people that we end ourselves.
After having my pip cut even thought my assessment was months before they cut it and they said they made mistake.
They did this before in past to Mr and I won at tribunal.
I am now having to do it again been waiting for over 8 months.
DWP hate the disabled
Here's How DWP steals from you
How DWP steals from you: a service center out of all 650 has "randomly" hijacked my account and perpetrated 3 / 3 total abuses against me, and falsified my UC capital declaring it taxable illegally, contrary to sections 46.1.b,48 and schedule 10 section 18.1.a of the Universal Credit regulations 2013 that makes it disregarded. It's Middlesborough Service Center, who also suspended my housing payment as terrorism, lying it's "investigation" twice since June 2024, infringing on the presumption of innocence. Of course they found nothing as they knew, and I been investigated since January 2024 by no less than 9 DWP "investigators", I suspect a lot more I never noticed. I sued. All DWP has to do is add a table to its database marking which cilent was investigated, and which not, but it doesn't want to, this is intentional embezzlement, sinecures, they pretend to work and use your data, "being a burden not working" in UK political speech. DWP DPOs never solved my complaints. DWP doesn't have an inner audit dept for its own Fraud etc., it's organized crime. How much chance does a known whistleblower have to be hired by DWP lol? And, the UK government is protecting it because it is the UK government
Legal accounting: if hypothetically I have 10 pounds, spend 5, I have 5 left. UC pays 5, therefore I have 10 again, out of which 5 is UC disregarded capital by the law, which replaces the other capital by this monthly process of expenditure - the law doesn’t foresee which capital is spent because it’s fungible, so UC capital remains as unspent because of the impossibility to prove which is spent or should be considered spent (it’s not statutory as proven by the very sections 46.1.b,48 and schedule 10 section 18.1.a from Universal Credit regulations 2013), and capital total is pushed up by the amount of UC income which is then UC capital, meaning regardless which capital is spent, which cumulates within existing capital, so the law doesn’t need to foresee this either which it actually does as part of the 12 months provision logic and letter of law - therefore up to a total of 12 months by regulations is UC disregarded capital
Bonus tip: how the council steals from you: the tax reductions are illegally applied sequentially, not aditively. Proof: in their regulation it is said they can't be over 100%, because when they add up its expected, such as 80% from UC + 25% single person. If they are applied sequentially, they never reach 100%. Simple 6th grade Math at most. Valuation Tribunal lied it has no jurisdiction, and has a perfect lowest score on Google Maps Reviews of 1/5. A "burden not working" as the councils. Fake UK judges are paid a minimum 8000 pounds / month
Nobody wants to be on fake "benefits", everyone wants justice and a normal life. I can prove my portfolio is worth 600 over to 600,000 over my social services I barely live on, but criminals have to be in the way. National interest has to be betrayed, and scapegoats found: Russians, Chinese, refugees etc. while the real organized crime is on the news all the time since it occupies the whole country, and its results are in plain view
DWP Stratford E15 - DO BETTER!
Before Shabana the work coach from the Stratford DWP office gives anymore advice to clients re: sick certification it may be a good idea that she undertake a quick crash course on sick entitlements to ensure that she does not mislead any of the clients that she is providing advice to. Not all employers are interested in the health & wellbeing of their staff, & not every employer offers sick pay, so before Shabana informs her clients to 'get a sick note from the doctor' it maybe an advantage to her to be somewhat aware of the general self certification process first. Maybe confirm if this has/has not been applied for as well as ascertain (for her own professional knowledge) if the same sickness benefit entitlements apply for both full & part-time employees. However strenuous her role may be she needs to remember that she exercising her role as a so called 'position of power' over clients who are receiving UC & how she wields that 'power' can make a difference to how people feel about themselves as well as their continuing search for work. So my advice is to be mindful. The authoritarian approach may go a long way to securing her next managerial role but you'll get no prizes for being dismissive & holding onto single (biased) point of view.
Keep fighting until you get what you deserve !
Awful service , delays delays., no one wants to help you. Corrupt and injustice service
RUDE AND UNHELPFUL
I dread having to speak to these people they are consistently rude and stroppy. The call centre should be closed down and set up else where. Awful staff
I called to enquire about an issue for…
I called to enquire about an issue for a care client and spoke to a lovely lady called Seth on 10/11 who provided an exceptional level of customer service, with excellent communication skills, a polite and respectful telephone manner and who was non-judgmental. She is a shining example of how all telephone representatives should behave, ensuring service users’ dignity is preserved at all times. There have been other agents who were unhelpful and churlish, so on speaking to her I promised I would leave a positive review because she earned it.
I waited a hour just for them to say…
I waited a hour just for them to say you cant confirm your identity and with your bank details as the bot says you can then they hung up on me
Profoundly disabled person discriminated and left to die.
Phoned DWP on behalf of a client to request a reasonable adjustment for them to communicate on their UC transition. 55 minutes later they cut off the phone call after claiming the call handler was fully trained in EDI policy but their reasonable adjustments were only what was on their check list. That it wasn't based on the individual needs. When PSED was mentioned the call was cut off by them. If this person's benefits are cut off they will die as it is used for them to pay for care.
call backs are never fulfilled
call backs are never fulfilled, most (not all) agents are rude and try to pass you on to someone else or put you back on hold any chance they get. Ive been waiting for two months to get my JSA appointment / first payment advanced. Ive lost count of the hours I have spent on hold or waiting for call backs that never come. would recommend complaining to your MP, but even then you still need to speak to staff on the phone which is near impossible. don't know why they havent just set up an online live chat already.

DWP Detrimental to Workers Purse when living on savings
Had my tribunal video link up this morning . Delayed until December . Why? Because the DWP did not send the letter to me outlining on a "point of law" why I did not receive backdated JSA after my former employer illegally withheld my salary (Maximus sub contracted by the DWP!!) The letter will be stuck in the Mail Handling sight at Wolverhampton .
