Avoid at all costs
One of the poorest valuation experiences I have encountered.
I believe Gateway Surveyors significantly undervalued my property by relying on the lowest comparable sales whilst ignoring stronger market evidence showing properties selling for approximately double which was in line with the value of my property.
The inspection also appeared superficial. Only the kitchen and bathroom were photographed, with no meaningful photographs of the rest of the property or the improvements that had been completed.
When concerns were raised, Gateway simply stood by the valuation without providing convincing answers to the specific issues identified.
A valuation can determine whether a mortgage application succeeds or fails, so it is essential that it is thorough, evidence-based and capable of withstanding scrutiny. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

As this is a Lender instruction, you will need to go back to your Lender in the first instance to raise this issue with them as a post valuation query (PVQ).

My husband and I were very impressed with the whole process. It was very easy to book a surveyor and we were able to book our survey within a week of contacting Gateway. On the morning of the survey, our surveyor phoned us to ask if we had any particular worries. She then phoned after the survey to give us verbal feedback. The report was sent to us within two days of the survey. The report was written in plain English and was easy to understand. The traffic light system that Gateway use, made it easy to understand and helpful in relation to prioritising home improvements. Many thanks

Not properly valued
One of the surveyors has come out and surveyed property. They were given A valuation pack with comparable and the works completed to uplift the value but not sure what the surveyor thought as from £75k went down to £60k have had no explanation as to why. Someone else I know had similar experience and then when they switched lender they got the value it was meant to be valued at.
