La-Z-Boy UK Ltd was established in January 2017 - a wholly owned subsidiary of La-Z-Boy Incorporated, in the USA. La-Z-Boy Inc, which has its international headquarters in Monroe, Michigan, has a strong history for producing comfortable and quality products and is a brand that is known throughout the globe. The furniture company that would later be known as La-Z-Boy was founded in 1927 by American cousins, Edward M Knabusch and Edwin J Shoemaker, who invented the first recliner in 1928. A comfortable concept, the folding wood-slat porch chair followed the contour of a person's body, both sitting and leaning back. Using orange crates to mock-up and refine their idea, the partners invented the reclining mechanism that would sweep the world off its feet. The chairs were an instant hit - but needed a name. Combining promotion with necessity, the partners held a contest and turned down suggestions including Sit-n-Snooze, Slack-Back and Comfort Carrier before choosing La-Z-Boy as the clear winner. Over the subsequent decades, La-Z-Boy's product line has grown to include a myriad of pieces and styles, making it the world's best-selling recliner. La-Z-Boy continues to innovate, building on a unique heritage that has pioneered new developments in the furniture industry.

Pet Owners Beware
We have a large sofa with 2 electric recliners and we have had it about 18 months and we have 3 big problems with it:
1. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE IF YOU HAVE CATS. We have 3 cats and of course they disappear, one day I sat down and put the recliner up but unknown to me, one of our cats had gone behind the sofa and fallen asleep with her tail over the recliner mechanism which trapped her tail when I started to recline the sofa. Cut her tail severely but it was her cry and my panic that was the worst.
Please change the design from levers to cylinders, or enclose the system so animals can't be trapped.
2. A large area of the middle seat has lost its colour, literally looks like the colour has peeled away and it isn't because of over use or wear because no one really sits on it.
3. One of the end seats has really sagged very badly, I only weigh 11 stone so it should be able to withstand that, surely.
DEFINITELY WOULDNT BUY ANOTHER

Took delivery of Knoxville recliner…
Took delivery of Knoxville recliner three seater sofa and chair 27th November 2020 by January the chair and one side of the sofa had sagged , the electric plug continuously drops out of the back of the sofa . Following a visit from and engineer he concluded it had not been filled properly and the webbing at the back was not tight enough . SCS said they would offer no other option than having the sofa and chair fixed and they would contact me when that would be possible to come out and fix it . since then I received yet another email saying the filling etc will not be availed until May they will then contact me to arrange a repair date.
Absolutely ridiculous when you pay £3500 for a sofa and chair that didnt last even 2 months. I would never buy a lazy boy product again and definitely nothing from SCS . Feel really let down by both companies .
Sagging seat & flat arm cushion
Bought a 2 & 3 seater electric recliner which was delivered in October 2020, one of the arm cushions was flat which had been caused by being squashed in delivery, this was eventually replaced & a week later was flat again, doesn’t seem to be anything holding the cushion in place unlike the other cushions, one of the seats on the 2 seater has sagged so badly that it’s uncomfortable to sit on, home serve engineer came out to inspect & said it was natural settlement & he could tell it was a preferred seat with the position of the tv??? None of the other seats have sagged & they are also preferred seats in fact the one that has sagged isn’t sat on as much as the others, he said you shouldn’t sit on the same seat all the time, don’t know what you would do if you bought an armchair! He is putting it down as invalid claim even though the seat is too uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time, this suite is 4 months old, I dread to think what it will be like in 4 years!
Although La-Z-Boy replied to my review saying they had been in contact to resolve my problem, they have in fact said the engineers report says no structural fault so the case is closed! I don’t think so, I have paid £4000 for a recliner which is too uncomfortable to sit on, this was bought for my partner who has serious health problems resulting in an amputation, we thought this would be great for him to relax on when he was too tired to make it upstairs, I am so disappointed in the customer care attitude.

LA-Z-BOY DO NOT LISTEN TO CISTOMERS
LA-Z-BOY DO NOT LISTEN TO CUSTOMERS! Following on from my previous review I have just paid £60 for technician to come and look at original fault. When he tipped the chair over there was a bolt on the floor. He placed it on my table and pretended it didn’t exist. He sat on the seat and said ‘this is a rickety thing’ and heard the clunking it has made from new and that the chair drops in the corner of where the clunking comes from. Homeserve are the company sending technicians and all they want to do is say’ not a manufacturers fault’ and it’s within the tolerances!!!! Are you serious, you don’t pay thousands for a la-z-boy for it to clunk and collapse in the corner and accept ‘it’s within the tolerances’. Today I looked at the chair myself and found where the bolt was from, one half of a support bracket was not attached, I put the bolt back it and the chair feels less ‘rickety’ but the clunking is there every time you sit on the chair. What did I pay £60 for? A technician who couldn’t be bothered to see where a bolt on the floor came from and couldn’t be bothered to fix the clunking or even try and identify why it was clunking??? The LA-Z-BOY warranty is worthless, in fact you’ll be out of pocket trying to have a fault recitified. Stay away from SCS, Homeserve and LA-Z-BOY!!!! Terrible!!!
This fault has been there from brand new, it should have been repaired the very first time. Are you also saying that ONLY manufacturing faults are repaired? Just so customers have more information regarding your rubbish warranties so that they can decide on whether to purchase your furniture based on the product and not thinking they are getting extra with the warranty. As I’m sure most potential customers would walk past your furniture based on the cost and reading honest peoples reviews on the quality and the useless bit of paper that says ‘warranty’. Waste of time, save your lip service, I’m tired of hearing it.

18 Month old sofa - Leather Peeling
18 Month old sofa - 'Leather' peeling
We purchased 2 lay-z-boy reclining 'Leather' sofas from SCS. We thought, naively, that the quality would be good. How totally wrong we were. 1 year after purchase the so called leather started to pit and then peel away. We have spent 8 months trying to get the issue resolved but no-body wants to know. SCS have sent out technicians, the first felt that the seat needed to be replaced and were the 'leather' was waring from the arms and other areas that they should either be repaired or dealt with in-situ.... At last we thought that we were getting somewhere.....no. Lay-z-boy queried it and another technician was sent from SCS. Who had made his mind up before he saw the sofa that it was 'accidental damage' caused by us in the home.
We have had a few leather sofas in the past and not one of them has 'peeled' now down to the base.
After weeks of complaining directly to Lay-z-boy, they sent out an 'independent' technician, who turned up with no tools, informed us that 'he had been told that he couldn't discuss anything with us or to talk about it'
He also felt that there was not a case to answer and closed the claim.
I know that I am not going mad, Genuine leather doesn't peel!!
I really don't know where to go from here, and any advice would be very greatly received.

Don’t waste your money on A LazyBoy
Bought three seater electric recliner 2seater and a rocker chair. Spent over 5k on our seating furniture, which was a really nice piece. But the quality of wear and tare is a joke when you want to sit in comfort. Reclining mechanism are cheap and nasty the leather flakes and that’s me even treating with leather cleaner designed for sofas. Feels like the foam support has push down into the springs when using the recliner making you feel of you are sinking through to the floor. Suppose to make you feel really comfortable but it’s like I am sitting on springs very lumpy. We are not heavy users of the furniture also we are not big people either. Had this furniture for almost 4 years and will be glad to find another suite that is not badly made as this one. I will not be spending my money on another Lazy boy as it does live up to its name. LAZY!

I brought a Lazy Boy corner sofa 2.4…
I brought a Lazy Boy corner sofa 2.4 years ago for the sun of £7500 from scs. It is now starting to peel on a chair we never sit on. I contacted scs that told me to go through Catalan warranty only for them to tell me it’s not covered.. I will never buy a cheap bonded sofa from lazy boy again.... This is the worst sofa I have ever purchased... I wish I read the reviews before I purchased it... Also do no buy scs is warranty absolutely useless.. It’s not even suitable to wipe your bum with.....

I really wish I had looked at reviews…
I really wish I had looked at reviews before I bought a leather corner suite. I purchased the leather cleaner kit from SCS at time of purchase and have looked after the suite to the book. A few weeks ago I noticed peeling in two places and the strange thing is where the peeling is no one sits. The high traffic areas where we sit are fine. I contacted SCS and they passed my information on to furnico who have sent me a copy of the limited warranty booklet!! The £5000 suite is 2 years 1 month old so apparently the leather is not covered as over a year old. I am devastated. What should I do now.
Purchased a so called leather settee…
Purchased a so called leather settee and single chair
3yrs ago from House of Fraser for £2500. The arm of the settee is now peeling to which I have now covered with a patch.
Evidently the leather is bonded which I understand to be scraps of leather mashed together and then sprayed with the colour of your choice which after time will peel . The guarantee only covers the material for 12 months
What a waste of money Steer clear

We are in communication with the retailer …
Typical of such iconic brands or companies...when you have a genuine issue they enter you into an array of put offs depending on that issue.we have a MERE 2YEAR YOUNG RECLINER SOFA.
The sofa has a part broken and we discovered this a bit by default when we went to clean and polish again.
We had a representative from the insurance Co call. His report was assessed by the insurance team a lady who informed us its not covered.
So I am giving LA Z - boy this early review for its aftercare and service provokes a lot of puff to baffle brains.
If you respond let your CEO ring me.

Milwaukee electric recliner
Milwaukee electric recliner fabric is torn and worn looks about 10 years old!. Chair bought in Nov 18, first reported to scs just as warranty ran out . SCS wont help referred me to insurance company Castellan, (policy bought with scs at same time) who have said not covered. Poor quality chair, poor quality service from SCS and insurance not worth having. DO NOT BUY INSURANCE it's not worth it and you will never be covered for anything.

Very poor quality La Z Boy
Very poor quality La Z Boy
Bought a chair made by them 13 months ago. Have to say quality is very poor for a manual reclining chair costing £1400, with 10 year warranty! Leather is peeling! Mechanism is now wobbly and Seat squab has sagged too. Raised matter with Claytons in Lincoln who I purchased from, they got Homeserve to come see the chair. According to Homeserve, leather is flaking in high points And that’s acceptable, mechanism isn’t too wobbly and falls within ok limits, sagging seat is settlement. So my claim is invalid. Guess what I’m saying is DO NOT BUY A LA Z BOY CHAIR! They’re rubbish.
LA-Z-BOY 3 piece suite
Bought a LA-Z-BOY 3 piece suite 5k Dec 2018 now 13 months later the stitching has come loose on one of the sofas we took out insurance for 5 years at a cost of £350 only to be told it does not cover stitching by the insurance company and SCS will want a £60 call out fee just to have a look.
Called La-z-boy only to be told that they cannot do anything as it was sold through a re-seller, well that may be but La-z-boy made the suite, but will take no responsibility for the manufacturing.
WILL NEVER BUY AGAIN FROM LA-Z-BOY or SCS WHAT A RIPOFF.

Well after I reviewed last time
Well after I reviewed last time. Lazy Boy customer services have been in touch. Told me they don't do the colour anymore, so cant replace faulty parts. So went down to SCS same colour is available, checked with lazyboy direct, pretending be a customer after the colour of my sofa, for a sofa in store and hey presto they do it not a problem. Total Liars !!! Contacted lazyboy customer services telling them colour available, they said they will get back in touch, still heard nothing, nearly another month gone by .This has been going on since March 2019 since their homeserve technician came out, reported fault months before that, so nearly a year gone by and still none the wiser. :(
Bought a 3 piece set in 2013
Bought a 3 piece set in 2013. 10 year frame and spring guarantee. Frame and springs have gone on 3 seater sofa and surprise surprise lazy boy say it’s wear and tear. I have put reviews on their Facebook page and they ask me to contact them privately which I did and surprise surprise, yes you’ve guessed it they didn’t bother to reply. I wouldn’t waste your hard earned cash buying furniture from them. It’s very poor quality and they try and fob you off.
It’s taken Lazy boy 8 months for them to reply on here. The settee has since been chopped up and put in a skip. When we dismantled the furniture to get it out of the house easier it was fastened together with staples. It was even more utter garbage than I originally thought.
Oh and another reply from my edit stating lazy boy have a strict quality control. Clearly our sofa missed out on that quality check and so did the after sales and customer service because it was non existent.
Like I said. 8 months to reply tells you something.

Mediocre quality product. Customer Service laughable.
The furniture is not bad at first but then screws start falling out for no discernable reason.
The company provide no kit for restoiring scratches and scuffs to the leather. This is entirely beyond their skills.
Customer service has no idea about the products they sell. Pathetic service.
I cannot find the name of the european CEO. No doubt he wants to hide in shame.
