Brilliant service by Farooq at Practical WAKEFIELD. A very friendly team - The prices were better than anywhere else and the streamlined service meant everything was arranged prior to my arrival. This included all of the ID verification checks etc. My £200 holding deposit was returned promptly as well. Farooq surveyed the vehicle with me prior to my departure to ensure that all prior damage was full recorded. Top service and I will definitely use them again.

This review concerns the New Milton office.

I hired a van from Practical New Milton in early September, and paid a deposit of £250. The van was returned within the allowed mileage and without any issues, the same day, but a month later, and no sign of my deposit. So I phoned the New Milton office and spoke to Zara, who checked my paperwork, and said yes I should have received it by now, and that I was literally on the top of her list of people to ring!!! What are the chances of that!!!??

But why don’t I believe her story? Because precisely the same thing happened last time I hired from them in Jul 2022 – no sign of my deposit until I chased it up.

Nice people to deal with. But if you don't chase up your deposit, you're just paying £350 a day to hire a van!

All staff incredibly helpful and friendly. They gave me a lift back to the train station after I dropped the car off. ( They said they could also pick me up from the station if they were free)
I hired a People Carrier at short notice which was very easy to drive and very reasonable price. All their vehicles are ULEZ compliant. Re-hired again with the same excellent experience.
They operate from a Porta Cabin which is clean and tidy ( including the toilet )

Hired a van at end of August 2024. Have just received a penalty notice of £90 from Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) people. I rang the Haverhill branch and they told me, very bluntly, it's my problem.
So, Practical have hired out a vehicle that does not conform to all UK road requirements. When I challenged that their terms and conditions on this issue draw no mention whatsoever to ULEZ, they got very angry, started shouting down the phone, told me they have another customer to deal with and hung up! I shall send the t's and c's to ULEZ as evidence.
Also, the vehicle they gave me was smaller than the type I had ordered, according to their own specs on their website. They accepted that complaint as an error and partially refunded me. I did not review that problem previously as the refund resolved it but this ULEZ issue compels me to advise both problems now to other customers. Be very wary if you must use them!

This was a short notice hire from the Wakefield branch. They were extremely helpful and made this very easy for us at a difficult time.

We are a U.S. company and have been in Northern Ireland doing business for a number of years. We started using Practical of Belfast (Moneyreagh) two years ago and they have made all the difference. Excellent service, great vehicles and friendly staff. I just thought its time to let others know about them.

Easy process to book the van!
Send all needed documents over, had a look around the van and then was ready to go! Same process with dropping it back!

I’d definitely recommend to anyone that needs to hire a van! I went with the Luton tail lift for a home removal and done it all in one go!
Very friendly staff!

I used the Stoke On Trent branch to hire a van and dealt with a lovely gentleman named Steve. The communication from Steve was outstanding, he rang to check on the booking and managed to sort out an issue when my Husband had cancelled it in error, he gave us a larger van at a cheaper price and then made sure to ring to make sure we were clear with all of the I.D checks etc.
The van itself was very clean and tidy which was lovely as most are a bit ratty !
I have used a few van hire places in the area over the years but I have now found my favourite, I would always Use Practical in Stoke from now on.

After 30 miles the van breaks down. I wait hours for recovery and discover practical only have a basic breakdown policy. The hire company in Skegness then proceeded to blame me. After 3 hours I'm still waiting to be towed home. The attitude of practical was absolutely disgusting stay clear.

Great service with lovely staff at the Wakefield branch. Really helpful.

Friendly and efficient - Sittingbourne

I've used a couple of other companies in the past, but won't use anyone else but Practical now. The vans are in good condition and always clean, they do a walk around when you collect and make sure they show you any damage and record it. Just genuinely good staff.

From initial booking, to pick up was polite, efficient and a very good experience. We extended to an extra day, which we had discussed with them, and it was again polite friendly and easy. They very quickly sent over the extended lease details to assist us with a permit. Lovely staff on drop off and return. Prompt refund of the deposit. Good not recommend highly enough!

The customer service experience from Helen and Michael at the Market Harborough branch has been outstanding. The prices are very reasonable. I feel that I have been treated as a valued friend as much as a customer... nothing has been too much trouble for them, and they have extended every possible courtesy and have been totally fair and flexible in their dealings... really decent people. Thank-you to Helen especially, you have been brilliant :-)

After booking a van via Europcar and then being called the day I'm supposed be picking it up to be told they don't actually have vehicles available, called the guys over at Haverhill and they had a van available and was able to accommodate at such short notice! Funnily enough, this is the second time I've had to book a vehicle with them at short notice, however the time before it was Enterprise who had let me down! But the team over at practical always pick up the phone straight away and will always help out wherever they can! From now on they will be my first phone call when I need a car or van! Thank you guys so much!
