This complaint was about the number of seeds in the packet, it is clearly states on our website that there are 6 seeds in the packet which we beleive is very good value for money and is cheaper than any other company that I can find offering the same F1 seed.

Below is a copy of the emails sent and received and I am happy that our response was perfectly reasonable and followed the 'tone' of the original complaint.

Original email from Mr Herbert:

I received my pumpkin seeds today. Six seeds. I have been buying seeds for decades and never received such a mean packet of seeds. I am totally dissatisfied with sowseeds - especially as a Cheshire Company.
Please explain how you feel six seeds is justified for £1.95. About 40p a seed.

Sorry you are dissatisfied with the number of seed in our packet of Squash Kabocha but it is clearly stated on the website page where you purchased the seeds.

Seed Quantity: Approx 6 seeds per pack.

Some seeds are a lot more expensive to buy then others due to their rarity and we have had no other complaints as most customers do not wish to grow a huge number of there large sprawling plants. If we put more seeds into a packet we would have to charge more.

Return the seeds in the envelope we sent the seeds in if you don’t require them and we will issue a Refund for the cost of the seeds only once we have them back in good condition.

Thanks for your unsatisfactory response. I won't be using Sow Seeds again and as rep for 100 plus allotments in Nantwich I will be passing on my experience widely.

With reference to your emails, I just wanted to let you know how disappointing it is to receive this kind of comment.

We are a very small family business who work extremely hard to provide our customers the best possible seeds at the best price.

With reference to your complaint, I have done a little research (as clearly you haven’t) and would like to point out that Thompson & Morgan charge £2.99 for 7 seeds (41p per seed) we charge £1.85 for 6 seeds (30p per seed) - not 40p as you have quoted. So I suggest that we actually offer very good value for money.

I suggest you shop elsewhere for your seeds in future as we would rather not deal with people like you.

Mr Herbert, you complained about the number of seeds, we explained that this was clearly stated on the website and because the seeds are F1 that we were actually good value for money and cheaper than other seed companiues, we also offered a full refund if you weren't happy.

You stated that you were 'totally dissatisfied' and has asked us to explain how we felt that 'six seeds is justified for £1.95' which is what we did, you then felt our response was 'unsatisfactory' and said you wouldn't be using Sow Seeds again.

Now you are claiming we can't cope with a bit of criticism! Can I just point out that you seem to be ignoring the fact that your complaint was unjustified but you appear unwilling to accept it, instead you now seem intent on trying to give our business a bad name, I guess some people just like to complain. Hopefully other people will read the above comments and can decide for themselves who has been unreasonable.
