Similar issue as others regarding offer
Similar problem to others so I’m annoyed I only looked at recent reviews. Was offered £300 for phone to be then told that they’d give me just over £100 as the bezel and back were marked. This is not true otherwise I would have said. It’s been well looked after and always in a case. I even sent it in the original box as we look after our things Also said battery was less than 80% and it’s 83%. Have had phone back.

They are not worth one star I found this website though a compare website and I read the reviews first so I thought they were a good company. But how wrong was I so I did the pay work for the item and I told them it was not good condition. And they received the item on the Monday I soon received a email saying that they where going to bank transfer the money and then a few hours later they what to change the money to less than what was signed and agreed on then they could give me a couple of pound more. And they are still messing me around with the money as I pointed out to them they should have said the lower offer in the first place instead of change after they emailed me the receipt with the first price. To me they should have just told me they received the item and after they checked it then email me the receipt with a price to see if I agreed on that amount but they didn’t do that

When placing your order via Compare and Recycle, the initial quote generated reflects the device condition selected at checkout—in this case, "Poor Condition."
Per Compare and Recycle’s guidelines:
Poor Condition: Requires the device to power on, show moderate wear, and feature fully functional hardware and software (including the display).
Broken Condition: Applies to devices with structural faults, deep damage, or LCD issues.
Upon receiving and testing your device on Monday, our technicians confirmed that the LCD screen was damaged. Because of this display fault, the device fell under the Broken criteria rather than Poor, which resulted in the adjusted offer. Because sellers select their device condition during checkout, we cannot know a unit's true physical condition or issue a revised offer prior to inspecting it in person.
We regret that this experience did not meet your expectations. Because you declined the revised offer, we returned your device to you free of charge. We hope you are able to find a suitable trade-in option elsewhere.

So quick and easy!
It was so quick and easy to sell my old phone. After looking at reviews for several companies, and prices offered, I decided on We Buy Tek. I filled out a form online on a Monday and they sent me the packaging and the label, which I received on the Tuesday. I posted my phone to them for free that same day. The following day (Wed) it was received by We Buy Tek and they text me to say they had received it. By early afternoon, I had confirmation my phone was as I had described and the money was in my bank. Everything was so quick, easy and without cost to me. An absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end.

Avoid this company.
I traded in my old iPhone 11 with a cracked screen. It was still working, but the screen was damaged, so I deliberately selected “Broken” when getting my quote because that was the worst condition available. The quote came back at £66.
This wasn’t the first time I’d tried to trade it in either. On two previous occasions, I completed the entire trade-in process, received the confirmation email and even had the postage pack sent out. However, when the confirmation email arrived, I noticed the condition had been changed from “Broken” to “Faulty”, despite me specifically selecting “Broken”. Because of that, I refused to send the phone and simply let the trade-in expire.
I tried again later, exactly the same thing happened, and again I didn’t send the phone.
The third time, I decided to send it anyway to see what would happen. Sure enough, after they received it, they reduced the offer from £66 to £26, claiming the phone was broken rather than faulty and therefore wasn’t as described.
That’s the problem. I did describe it as broken. I deliberately selected the worst condition available every single time. Somehow, by the time the confirmation email arrived, it had been changed to “Faulty”, which was then used to justify a huge reduction in the offer.
By that stage they’ve got your phone, so your choice is to accept a much lower payment or pay to have it returned. I accepted the £26 because it wasn’t worth the hassle of getting it back and starting the process elsewhere, but the whole experience felt incredibly misleading.
Based on my experience, I’d avoid WeBuyTek and use another trade-in company instead.
Update 24/07/2026:
Following my original review, the company contacted me to discuss my complaint. Unfortunately, rather than addressing the points I had actually raised, the conversation simply became another attempt to justify their position.
When I finally tried to respond and explain why I disagreed, the call conveniently became “difficult to hear” just as it was my turn to speak. At that point I ended the call.
This has only reinforced my original opinion. The issue was never properly acknowledged, and my concerns were never genuinely addressed. Instead, I was repeatedly given explanations that completely missed the point of my complaint.
My review therefore stands. In fact, after today’s experience, I have even less confidence in this company than I did when I first wrote it. If I could leave minus stars, I would.
